How would an upgrade work? That doesn't seem possible. Its gonna be "BUY this new more powerful console".We dont know whether current PS4 owners will be able to upgrade or if theyll have to buy an entirely new device to benefit from this power boost
Eh, I'd rather the PS4 try to tackle higher frame rates than 4K. It's either 4K at 30 (or less) or we can stick with 1080p and hit 60 (if not higher).
Ive heard whispers about an upgraded Xbox One for a while now, and Microsoft has been public about the possibility. At a press briefing earlier this month, Xbox head Phil Spencer hinted to journalists that his company has been exploring the possibility of evolving hardware. We look at these other ecosystems out there like mobile, tablet and PC, Spencer told the assembled press, as reported by Polygon, and we see that they have a very continuous evolution cycle in hardware, whereas between console generations most of the evolution is making it cheaper and potentially making it smaller.
Wow. Won't this fragment the userbase?
Been calling this shift since the x86 rumours.
Consumer electronics doesnt do 7 year cycles anymore.
Obviously he isn't >.<Are you for real ? You made that joke today already
You can't understand why people who buy a console expecting it to last an entire generation don't want to have to upgrade that console to get the optimum experience?I cant understand why some gamers are so opposed to this. I truly can't.
One developer jokingly called it the ‘PS4K’ while telling me about the device.
Hoping they call their next PS4 PS4.9 taking inspirations from square enix
+1Pretty sure I would buy one if it meant 30fps games ran at 60fps in 1080p.
Are you for real ? You made that joke today already
but if that's the case how does an upgrade system solve the problem? Wouldn't developers still be making games for the current PS4 as the baseline?
Yep been telling people to get ready for this. We are transitioning out of a traditional console cycle from all appearances all around. MS, Sony, and Nintendo all appear to be doing it
