I hope this is fake or Nintendo are screwed with 3rd party support. A touch screen will never be a replacement for buttons.

As far as screen space, it's beautiful.

However, there is no substitute for the tactile nature of mechanical components. There's a reason touch keyboards are wholly, completely inferior to actual keyboards. Are there "haptic" buttons? Are there buttons on the back? Does the system support a classic controller?

So many questions, yet so long until E3.

Well, if it's real, it's a proof of concept and I can see more alterations made. Patent also described panel buttons in the back like the Steam controller has.

Even if you're on team fake you need to throw the "this could be done via 3D printing" theory right out the window

3D printers are not magic. Both the actual printing process itself and quality of materials results in a lot of imperfections in the final product - plastic burrs, uneven surfaces, flaking, etc.

It cannot produce smooth, flawless surfaces as has been shown in multiple pictures by multiple sources. We're just not there yet

It might be fake, sure. But it absolutely was not 3D printed. It's like saying you can't tell the difference between a developed photo and a picture printed on a LaserJet. The quality isn't even close

If an article/tweet that you are about to link was not posted within 2 minutes ago, its already been posted.

This thread is a monster that is eating everything that has the word "NX"

I didn't read the whole topic, so don't know if confirmed fake, but if it is real, then more Gimmicky Nintendo nonsense. It's like they are afraid to conform or mimic the success of Microsoft or Sony with basic concepts.

"afraid to conform" = "brave enough to try something different"

It's called risk-taking. Sometimes it's successful and sometimes it's not. Let's wait and see before dismissing it.

Nah, just grips to hold it like a traditional controller. Everything still on the controller as usual. Like 12b

3DS's circle pad added a second stick and more buttons. The way this is designed, I could see a docking component with d-pad and buttons. That would "solve" all the design concerns.

never left the stone age
If it has a taptic-like haptic engine and screen all around the sticks, I wonder how well large haptic feedback giving buttons all around the sticks would work, a bit like this amazing drawing I made

What does a shiny apple on an unfolded cardboard box have to do with anything? jk

Well lets just say hypothetically this is real... does anyone think this is a good idea? I mean their feedback on touchscreen would have to be completely industry changing, like 100x better than what is on the best androids because touch screen games are horrendous... tried playing Zelda on my android and it was unplayable.

I hope this is fake and then the real controller ends up being even worse. Like an app you download to your smart phone that truly is all touch controls, but on your shitty phone touch screen.

I don't really mean this, oh God GAF be kind.

So can sean give us a fucking answer and clear some shit up, or is he/she just going to give us ":)" and think that helps the fucking conversation.

Wish we had some legit sources doing work so we can debunk this move on, or at least confirm it's existence and stop the charade.

We probably wont get an answer just like we didn't on the last batch of photos. Everyone is under NDA

Why couldn't someone touch up a picture of something that's been 3D printed?

I personally think it's real now, and I'm not buying it.

am I reading too much into it when I realize gaf mods allow this and the other thread to remain open for 5k posts all while they remain silent and do not participate in the hype and speculation??

not a single mod has commented on this, that seems quite stranger.

Probably just a coincidence but still.

Oh God, that sounds horrible

The mods were posting in this thread earlier

100 pages hype. This thread is more insane than the first leak.

Meanwhile, /r/Nintendo is in complete denial over these leaks.

Edit: can anyone explain the microphone (?) hole in the idriss2dev leak, while this one seems to have no such hole to the left of the home button?
