Blizzard said:
We'll replace the pose. We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented.

Apologies and we'll continue to try to do better.

As someone who knows little about overwatch, is this her only victory pose or is it something the player can choose?

My reading of it was, it's not that it's sexy or for ethics, but because it doesn't make sense for the character to strike that pose.

The original post on the forums was calm and well argued.

Widowmake, Mercy, Hanzo and McCree have the same pose and it doesn't look like they're going to be removed, so this is pointless.

"Ethical reasons"...??

WTF is this industry coming to

That's a gamergate embellishment. It made fans uncomfortable, blizzard decided they wanted to be all inclusive and not exclude anyone, so they removed it.

Check the actual blue post:

We'll replace the pose. We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented.

Apologies and we'll continue to try to do better.

Quote from above in the same thread:

But her personality is youthful and innocent and besides all that, do we really know she is emotionally and intellectually 26 years old since she was adrift in time for an extended period?

Again, it's not that a female is being sexualized that makes me uncomfortable with this pose. I am 100% for it when it's appropiate (Widow, for instance). But this particular hero's personality seems anathema to sexualization, and that's what makes it pretty gross.

It doesn't fit the character. The pose is still part of Widowmaker, who it does fit with:

But I'm sure there will be plenty of wailing and gnashing of teeth anyway.

This too.

Don't believe those are Blizz's words: "We'll replace the pose. We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented.

Apologies and we'll continue to try to do better."

Fine by me tbh

Always funny how "artistic integrity" is pulled up as a defender for INCREASED sexualisation but it's always seen as "pandering" when the opposite is done.

'ethical reasons' is an invention by the owner of a fan twitter feed.

Not Blizzard's phrasing, which is this:

We'll replace the pose. We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented.

Apologies and we'll continue to try to do better.

What does this industry have against butts?

Seriously, it's getting really blatant at this point. First R. Mika, now this - butts are being remorselessly thrown into chains while breasts proudly adorn all manner of cultural product with no trace of humility.

The official forums are a total cesspool right now. I really don't understand all the outrage on this topic. The pose is out of character for Tracer and is needlessly sexualized. Nothing of value was lost by removing it from the game.
