Very nicely done! How was the LOCA application? Any issues?

Just applied it to the GBC screen itself in a kind of 'X' shape and then applied the light and pushed it around so it covers the whole GBC screen, dont lift it off once you placed it on though as it will cause air bubbles that are a bitch to remove

That light looks really good, not as washed out as other's I've seen either. I'm curious about the speaker, does it sound better/louder than stock? GBC speakers are pretty weak sounding in terms of volume so I wasn't sure if the new ones were better.

Well the speaker in the GBC originally didnt work at all so i just go a new one off ebay, think it was £3.50 for 2 speakers. Sounds good but going from something like a 3DS i forgot just how quiet the GB systems were!

Yeah, if you played through Metroid 1 and 2 when they were released or at least before Super Metroid was released, M3 was some next level shit in 1994. Taking the areas of M1 and twisting them in a both cinematic way (omg you realise what this place is?) and naturalistic way (nature re-taking over abandoned dwellings).

Completely blew my mind doing something that clever with a game. It was truly art.

Zero Mission went all meta by being a remake of M1, which through being effectively an 'extended cut' of M1, explained additional parts of the world of M3, and equipment of M2 and M3. It wasn't quite as clever that time because it had been done, but I loved it almost as much for being so meta.

That's a heck of a collection there friend! Unfortunate that you're letting it go, but at the same time I can absolutely understand your reasoning. Sometimes it just feels like having too many physical objects sitting there doing nothing can be a mental drain. As well as that, hopefully the buyer might get some more use out of them than you plan to (and also you'll get mad cash for that collection!)

I'd be interested in the boxed consoles, if they are in good condition and the price is right (regular gold Light, SP 101, Micro).

Also it'd be nice of you to post a list of the items. Really useful when buying Japanese games in bulk. From what I can see in the pictures I'm interested in Link's Awakening DX (US boxed) and Metal Gear (US cartridge-only), and with a list it could be 5 to 10 non-boxed games more.


As an off-topic,
1.- My pink GBA SP 101 started emitting a high pitched buzz sound. Is there any simple way to fix it? It really is a shame since everything else is in perfect condition.
2.- Recently I've been looking for a gold game boy camera (Zelda edition) and I have found nothing yet. Any tips, or even better an offer? It's the very last item missing from my GB Camera + GB Pocket collection (yes I collect that stuff).

Got two queries for y'all.

First, anyone based in the US familiar with a modder that does Pocket Bivert mods? I'm becoming more and more interested in getting one despite being perfectly happy with my GBC. In theory I'd like to pay under 90$, but I'm not sure what the market's like, since they seem relatively uncommon.

Second, anyone find a modern carrying case that they hold a gameboy (especially the Color, but whichever gameboy) in? 3DS and DS cases are similar in dimension, but they tend to be designed with the clamshell or small cartridges in mind. I'd really like a proper case but I'm afraid I'm going to have to make one myself.

Thanks. Yes, had to shave down the rails and also trim away the plastic piece for the bottom of the LCD to fit into. It's not hard, just used a sharp wire cutter and scalpel knife to shave it down.

Just curious how did you glue the screen on? I have Liquid Fusion for my custom backlit GBA but for some reason I can never get it fully right. Some dust always gets behind the screen and I always end up redoing it a few weeks later since I want a perfect IQ...it's been driving me nuts lol

The kit I bought from Rose Color Gaming came with some fine double sided sticky tape that was cut L shaped. Just peeled those and stuck them around the screen and stuck to the screen to the tape. The screen seems to stick pretty well to it and I'm OCD with dust as well, so hopefully I won't have to take any of it apart again!

I see on eBay that the newest counterfeit GBA cartridges even have the indented number stamp on the label replicated. Sigh. That used to be the easiest telltale sign when you only had a photo to work with.

That plastic snap case is still a giveaway, though.

The GameBoy Advance lettering on the cartridge itself is too thin. The number 11 is on both of them and I'm guessing it shall be on most of the fakes since I doubt they'll use random number/letter combo like Nintendo did for the sake of time. Also you can see the lettering below the Nintendo seal is too far off, the sticker is applied haphazardly (there is uneven space between the edge and the cartridge over the various parts) and the artwork itself is off-axis. The Nintendo capsule looks a little off (thin I'd say), too.

That said, the counterfeiters have definitely stepped up their game. I'm a little surprised they're not focusing on DS games instead. Also, there's a small part of me that worries the guide I made a while back (along with others like it on the net) doesn't actually help them focus their efforts...

Dang, the Gameboy Advance lettering combined with a stamped number plus contact with the seller have worked out great for me so far. And if I ever get a fake I'll just take my money back thankyouverymuch. I might actually have a fake cart on the way, the price was way too good (FF6A for around $30).

Yeah, I love the TRU Midnight Blue, although I think a third party case has similarly come out (I believe the (R) next to the Nintendo logo at the top is just a circle on third party cases).

I'm not too displeased with the EZ4. It's stupid to set up and the interface is dumb but once you have it set up once you pretty much never need to do it again. It works, everything is full speed...

Edit: Also looks like the Everdrive GBA will stick out a bit like a Yoshi Topsy Turvy cart.

Which clearly says RTC testing so as far as I know RTC will be in there. Given he was testing Boktai and the prototype has a larger cartridge footprint it may have a light/tilt sensor in there, but that part is all speculation on my end.

I mean there is really only one alternative for the GBA. I'm guessing it'll come in around $100 given the GB version is $88. The ability to drag and drop, not have to patch to carry a whole collection, AND if it has RTC (+/- light and/or tilt sensor) would make it worthwhile to many is my guess. I'm really hoping the extra height is for tilt sensors ala Yoshi and Wario (especially since the latter is a beloved game).

Is it the casing? Sometimes aftermarket shells are a bit off at the edges. Could do with a bit of filing down, or it could just be a case of the button needing replacing.

Which ones? As for decent falshcarts (that are available, I'm not talking M3 Perfect Lite of yesteryear) that have RTC and good compatability for GBA there really isn't anything that comes to mind, unless I'm missing some new manufacturer/storefront.

There's none with expandable storage apart from the supercard (crap) and the ez flash IV.

The others are vastly overpriced, difficult to obtain and can only store a few games at a time at max.

Really, the best option right now is the ez flash IV v2. Which is why the Everdrive is so sorely needed.
