COMPETITION TIME

I'm currently creating the Battleborn OT, but I don't have a catchy title.

Due to an order mix-up, I will also have a spare Steam key from cdkeys.com.

Post your suggestions for an OT title and the best ones will go into a draw, with the winner having their title being used and a free copy of Battleborn for the PC!

Closing date: 30th April

We don't know certain dates but they said there will be free maps and 5 free characters added to the game post-launch.

Ah cool, I wasn't really following it at all until just trying out the beta on a whim so not really sure what all is coming. Thanks!

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Miko, Galilea and Ambra are the unkillable trio when together. So much sustain and damage.

They are OP as hell playing solo with randoms using them. In a party I'd just straight up consider it cheating. :p

I will not disagree. Yet I will continue to abuse it. :p

There is a beta/demo alive on PS4, right? Haven't seen anyone in my friends list play this. Shame, really, as many have been longing for good games, but this experience collides with Division/Souls etc.

Battleborn IOTI The Last Star Fights back Against The Void

Can't really think of a silly title. Maybe something like:

Battleborn IOTI Fighting to Save the Bordered Lands.

Jumped in for a few hours. Really liking the unique character designs and the humour works for me, but the FOV is really bothersome at the moment.

Hey Everyone! My name is Grant. I'm a character, systems, and balance designer at Gearbox. I want to express my gratitude to all those enjoying our open beta so far! I also want everyone to know that many of us are following and reading all the feedback from everyone here (and other places too). Expect to see some of us comment and try to clear up any confusion when we're not busy trying to get this game out the door. In the meantime, I'd like to address a few things.

We have some balance fixes in the pipe for a few BattleBorn! Some BattleBorn will see some much needed reduction in effectiveness and some will receive some love.

We'd love to hear feedback in regards to our Incursion mode. For those that have played the mode a few times, what did you think? Do you prefer this mode over Meltdown? And did you have any feedback for the map?

Finally, I want to remind players that there is a "return to base" teleport function in PvP! A lot of players have been asking for one and we have one so if you need to heal and don't have a healer nearby, teleport back to base to instantly heal to full.

Thank you for your support and I hope to see you in game!

Gave the Beta a shot and then deleted it after going through a "solo" mission to completion. I think the visual style is fun which makes sense because it's very borderlandsesque and most of the characters are pretty interesting but I just wasn't feeling how the game actually plays.

I really don't like how they label content as single player and yet everything about the solo content is very clearly designed for multiple people. I felt like the field of view was far to narrow for the amount of stuff that is happening on screen, especially when you don't have anyone with you, and I really don't like moba style character progression at all.

I can see where others would be really into this but I have Destiny, The Division, ESO and FFXIV to fill my thirst for mp and they are better designed for solo play in most cases as compliment to the MP side.

Hopefully Borderlands 3 isn't too far behind

I don't know what modes are included in the beta as I haven't played it yet, but the primary mode for Battleborn in my opinion is Meltdown Mode. The most-MOBA esque mode. I enjoyed it a lot in the Closed Technical Test and I'm going to assume that it's only got better since then. Looking forward to playing and streaming the Xbox One beta this week.

Meltdown and Incursion. I got the impression Gearbox considers the latter as the main mode. From all the streams I saw Meltdown seems better.

Battleborn IOTI MOBAlands

Battleborn |OT| Bordering on the MOBAlands?

Incursion is the map with the single lane and two big robots on each team right? The problem I have with that mode is that its really hard to turn the fight back around once you have lost your first bot, you only have one single lane of robots and if you manage to destroy the first bot on the enemy team, you can pretty effectively hold the middle of the arena and all the bonuses that comes with it. I preferred Meltdown more in the end cause its easier to try and switch lane if the fight gets too hard on one side. I really hope they fix incursion though in some way cause the more modes the merrier.

I really wouldn't come to a conclusion on the balance of the Incursion game mode atm. The vast majority of people don't even know the mechanics of the game yet. I can't tell you how many 20+ minute games I have been in where teammates and enemies have not gotten past level 2-3 while I was at level 10. I want you to think about that for a second. These people have no clue that you have to kill minions in order to level up early on, so they try to kill players. Except the players they are trying and failing to kill already outlevel them, so they just end up feeding them even more XP and get further behind.

Given that, I have played several close games on Incursion with both sides knowing what they were doing. Everyone on both teams were Rank 25+. You can easily come back from being one robot down after winning a team fight once people have reached level 7-8. The respawn time at 30+ seconds and minions melting at that level makes pushing back extremely quick. By the time you get to the other robot you have several waves of minions/mercenaries and your teams damage output just melts the first robot.

Basically the majority doesn't know what the hell they are doing right now. Give it time.

With a couple of people in my party on the same team I've turned had a few games turned around after the first sentinel robots go down. The way to do it is normally to get the center mercs with shields. It'll push the battle-lines to the half-way point and their tankiness will allow you to take out enemy turrets and the like. You'll find yourself at the first sentinel in no time even if you lost your first if you have a competent team.

Has anyone had success with Phoebe? I just unlocked her and felt like a joke for a whole round, furiously trying to poke players that just backpedaled out of my range and shot me in the face. Her teleport seems the only option to close range and if that's not up I felt useless against anything but minion bots. I guess I just don't "get" melee heroes, it seems so much harder to have success with them. On the other hand I tried Oscar Mike for the first time, had been kinda avoiding him because he seemed so generic, but had a couple great games with him. Fire grenades, good sustained damage with primary weapon at range, and upgraded Stealth to be a get-out-of-trouble-free card with instant shield recharge when activated.

The biggest snowball effect for me is when the first sentry is taken down and they make sure to destroy and place sentries in your spots. Having your own base shoot at you and heal the enemy slows you down a lot when they're right in your face already.

Played this earlier today. Must say I'm not impressed.
Might just be that it's not for me.

Also don't really get the Borderlands references. It's seems more visually inspired by Wildstar.

You can still get past and build turrets in the middle if you get the shield mercs. Moving the frontlines forward makes the enemy camping your own base pointless.

One thing I've found interesting is how the story missions scale with player numbers. Like, the arachnis fight in Episode 1. With two people he won't spawn tesla turrets, but with 3 he does. The actual mechanics change based on how many people you have on your team.

Also, the dialogue changes from go-through to go-through.
