Red Dead Redemption stories emerge from court documents, including Houser panicking

THE DARKNESS!!!

Man seeing stuff like this makes me wish I could be a fly on the wall to see the real kind of stuff devs and management go through while making games.

The Benz to RDR rescue! Walks in, sees the darkness, fixes with ease.

Wow... so... in other words, I should be looking forward to The Benz's next game and not necessarily Rockstar's next game?

Duly noted

They've been operating at a profit without Rockstar releases for the first time in a long time recently, so they should be generally fine.

They're also large enough that they're not going to have any issues getting capital for projects as small as Firaxis titles.

That's good to know then, thanks for the info.

GTAV is still selling stupidly well and is bringing them money. Few realized how great the next version was still going to sell due to it having been already out on previous gen consoles for a good while.

Wow if it wasn't for "The Benz" who knows what RDR we would have played...!Makes me worried about the sequel if he is gone

If he was/is so instrumental at Rockstar, then the firing must have been for something really critical.

How so? Take Two themselves weren't impressed with how much the DLC sold last time.

GTA online is the reason due to that. Not one person leaving. He was on a break anyway.

Probably what happens when you keep your DLC exclusive to a single console for a significant amount of time. Likely would've sold more if not for that.

Seems like Benzies played a large role in management and keeping projects on track. His departure would almost certainly throw a wrench in any story DLC plans.

They really need to fix some shit if a single person can pull that, alleged, trainwreck into GOAT material in a few months. Horrible project management.

But he took the break a year after they released the game. It doesn't take a year to develop DLC. Some developers even have it finished before the full game is out.

Rockstar most likely had no plans to release DLC. I think some people have been trolled by one of the lead voice actors.

There were stories of resentment between San Diego and the North developers because of how they were treated different. North developers were flown over, staying in five star hotels to get this game shipped. Have to imagine Benzies was one of those key developers.

There was a rather publicized piece from a Ex-Rockstar employee who basically said things got worse during RDR especially when it came to Mexico, they had no clue what to do.

They insinuated that DLC would be coming in 2015. And nothing happened. And regarding the bolded, you don't know that, do you?

That they had no clue what to do with Mexico, was clear from playing the game.

That's hilarious. That's what you get for trying to cheat someone out of their money.

That is fantastic but I think it should read BenzGame on the label so it's like:

"Damn, shit is getting sideways! We need to rub a little of that BenzGame up on our devs to get shit straight!"

Damn...and RDR turned out to be one of the best games ever and incredibly well optimized, for the 360 at least.

"Benzies' complaints also were personal in nature, accusing Sam Houser specifically of "mounting resentment" that Benzies received the same compensation from Take-Two as the Houser brothers."

Why on Earth would you get rid of the guy who's overseen possibly the world's most successful development studio? They're out of their minds.

Sony should get themselves some Benz to put their 1st party production in order.
Everyone in the industry will be falling all over themselves to get some Benz. I imagine the UK studios will be the front runners though.

To be fair, San Diego really screwed the pooch on RDR and it seems like the North guys actually knew what the fuck they were doing. The discrepancy seems entirely justified to me lol.
