Wii U's discs were a proprietary format. Essentially blurays but they didn't need to pay for licensing fees.
It's a bit smaller, but still a lot bigger than a DVD.

This was never the experience in my house growing up, but I worked at the Toys R Us R-Zone for two years, and this is generally how parents perceive video games.

The WiiU was blurays, it just didn't play bluray movies. This will probably be the same unless they shift to cartridges/gamecards for the console.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo used a Blu-Ray formatted alternative to avoid having to pay Sony and the rest of the consortium for royalties. That's why you couldn't watch Blu-Ray movies I believe.

NX's boxes need to be 30% more saturated than PS4 to represent the difference in hardware

You think 3rd parties are all going to flock to Nintendo just because (according to rumors) it has better specs?

If they want to get anyone else besides Nintendo fans, they will fail. VR (whether it finds huge success or not) will be on the tips of the tongues of gamers and the casual audience alike this holiday season.

I switched out cases with Mario Kart 8 because Wonderful 101 just looks so much better in red than blue. It would be perfect if the Wii U trim wasn't blue.

If that were the case there would be no point in Nintendo ever releasing another console again. Nintendo is ALWAYS trying to get 3rd party support. The only time when this wasn't the case was when it was clear the Wii U would be prematurely phased out, and they focused on making sure at the least it didn't have a last year like the Wii.

People who honestly believe this...well, there's no way a console can survive on only 1st party games. Even if every game was a hit, Nintendo simply couldn't match the numbers and amount of output of dozens of other devs

Probably not. I do remember Monolith Soft saying that XCX was almost a 2 disc set but they managed to fit everything on a 25GB disc with optional downloads to speed up loading times.

You know what? I don't care anymore. I posted some info I heard and some people shat on me for it or accused me of writing fan fiction. I tried to do people a favour by sharing some interesting info and entice discussion.

I just wanted a better understanding of whether any mod came forward and said "hey, this guy is verified," as has happened in the past. That's why I was also wondering what people were referring to in regards to mention of some mod comments in this thread, and asked as such, but didn't get any answer that I saw at least (I'm on mobile so I very well may have missed it). The bottom line is, I truly appreciate you coming forward with this info, and I simply wanted to know whether the mods here had had the opportunity to vet not you, since I know you as an excellent member of the community and a great poster, but rather your sources themselves. In the case of the Trev leak I believe his sources were formally verified, and we know that leak ended up being accurate, so I simply was wondering if your own sources had been verified as well. I've asked this a few times ITT not to create any consternation, it simply because I hadn't seen any answer to my question as of yet. All I can say is, if I did offend you, you have my sincere apologies.

I agree with everything except your conclusion.

I think everything you say leads to only 1 conclusion. Nintendo isn't going to make a copycat box. They are going to do their own thing. It ultimately won't matter when they launch whether that turns out to be 2016 or 2017.

They are going to live and die by how big of a hit the NX is.

The NX represents their latest swing at the fences. They swung and missed and struck out with the Wii U. They hit it out of the park with the Wii. Nintendo is approaching the batter's box yet again.
