Zero Time Dilemma: JP Trailer 2

I looked at the older trailers of VLR and I can say it's less awkward than this trailer.

Exactly. Also in VLR the models were only standing there VN style and only did some basic gestures. Here we have this cinema stuff and the models will constantly move around.

Oh wow, those are some bad animations... But a few wonky cutscene animations can't bring down my hype for this game.

The animation in VLR wasn't great so I'm not bothered by the stiffness here. Didn't really look at the flashing images either

Yeah but VLR had vn-style dialogs and VLR gave us exactly the few generic animations and expressions that one would expect from vn dialogs, in the end models just replaced animated sprites, but cutscenes are totally another thing, they need good recitation, bad animations won't bother us most of the time, but i'm sure that bad recitation will ruin great scenes full of pathos or tension that require good recitation, this trailer itself already shows scenes losing impact because of bad animations.

Definitely preferred the visual style with 2D art in 999 over 3D characters in VLR. I think the best would have been to have 2D characters and 3D real-time rendered backgrounds.

Edit: oh, and just 2D artwork for certain scenes, like 999.

The akward lip-sync and animation in VLR actually took me out of it a bit. I was far more engaged in 999.

Yeaaaah would have prefered if they kept the storytelling ala 999/vlr. Still hyped though. Can't wait to watch phi and sigma in action again. <3

I don't mind the visuals. Just excited I get to play this.

Anyone have a good site to summarize the events of the previous games? I have played both and have the main gist of what is going on, but individual story lines and specific events are foggy.

we should just have an all purpose Zero Escape spoiler thread to try and talk over what happened lol

without looking it up

Compared to VLR, the animation looks fine. And I didn't get sucked into the series because of the art style or graphics, I got sucked into it because of the gameplay and story so as long as the quality of that is good then this will easily be game of the year contender for me.

I just skimmed through the trailer because I want to go in as fresh as possible. June 28th can't come soon enough.

Those are some MMD-like animations. Still hyped though.

Also, the cover looks better than the western one, I wish we got that.

Why does Phi have orange eyebrows, damn it. WHAT IS UP.
I wholeheartedly encourage more discussion of Eyebrowgate 2016 if it will discourage further gangpiling on the janky animations from this game we should feel blessed even exists in the first place.

I don't care about the graphics. I'm just glad we're getting this game.

Also, I'll be playing on 3DS, even though I could play it on both Vita and PC.

I can't decide if I want to play Team D for Phi or Q for the all new group.

I was honestly expecting more speculation than criticism. We're getting the game so soon.

The absolute last thing I care about in this is how it looks.

Story, gameplay, music ... so much more important.

The awkward animation in VLR was relatively easy to get past with the visual novel format of the game, as you wouldn't expect much animation at all anyway. But if they've dropped that format for ZTD and all the story sequences will be 'cutscenes' like this, it's going to be a whole lot harder to get past.

I get that this is the only way we get a third game, but I guess I'm inherently a bit pessimistic about it since I still kind of think 999 didn't even need the first sequel. (I do hope that ZTD can somehow convince me the sequels are worthwhile, though.)

I love how most of Team D's interactions in that trailer amount to:

"KILL ME!"
"NO, I'M THE ONE WHO'S GONNA DIE."
"FUCK YOU, I'M THE ONE WHO'S GONNA DIE."

Like, they're all trying to keep the other two alive and it's precious. Though from the trailer looks like Phi wins out on being the sacrifice for the game.

Team Q ain't got time for that.

Trailer looks awesome, I prefer it over the first one. I have no issues with the animation or art design. I paused on the flashing images towards the end to see if there was anything cool, I'm not worried about accidentally spoiling myself, since I'm sure the craziest theory I create of what the images could mean would be no where near as crazy as what they actually will mean in game.

I'm a bit distraught though about when I'll get to play this game. I will be away for work when it releases, and won't be home / back to a normal schedule until the end of August. I'll have two hours of free time a day (I won't have time to play at night) but I feel like using all of my free time to play the game in small chunks won't be optimal (Since I'll definitely have other things to do on my breaks). I think I'm going to have to wait until the end of August to actually play this properly. :'(

Damn

This game looks like the most fucked up out of 3 "games" so far. I really feel bad for the participants this time around, heh

Seriously? When can we get the translation of this trailer?

I feel bad about Q. He's stuck with two loonies. Mira is downright psycho.

Damn, I feel like I'm always gonna be the minority on stuff now. The first trailer made me not want to play the game anymore, but I thought this trailer was awesome from start to finish. The movement is wonky, but it was always going to be. The story stuff they hinted at definitely has me pining for more (Voting? Percentages? a Pig)? Voices mean nothing since I'm going to be playing in English since I don't know Japanese, but I guess they're good for people who understand that language, so that's nice.

Roughly 69 days till it comes out (At least in NA, since we get it first for once). Definitely gonna watch a friend play through it, and will pick up a copy if it doesn't have ME3 levels of a bad ending like Junpei and Akane ending up together in a happy timeline or Phi being Brother and Snake and Aoi or something.

Oh, and Mira looks off the wall crazy, and I think Reddit found out her twist.
She's a lizard. Look at those eyes.

You think Aksys is going to translate this trailer at all? They didn't translate the second VLR trailer (which was kinda like this one as far as introducing characters goes), but the first trailer did say "trailer 1..."

A quick and dirty translation, in spoilers:

TEXT: December 28th, 2028
TEXT: 9 People Trapped
TEXT: Split into 3 teams, the challenge they face
TEXT: Is a game that will decide the fate of over 8 billion...
TEXT: The Decision Game.

Carlos: That's why I'm telling you to shoot.
Eric: What?
Carlos: Don't worry... I won't die.

Eric: What's going on?
Akane: There isn't a point to all of this if I lose the one person who's most important to me!

Junpei: Sorry, but... I'm through playing the hero.
Akane: But why?
Junpei: I just grew up.

Q: If I just... kill one more... One more... One more...

Mira: Yesss, this... It feels just like the first time this happened.

Eric: Mira! Where is she?!
Q: Eric, calm down!
Eric: Mira is my... my angel!

Diana: You're kind... If it will make your decision easier... Please, kill me.

Sigma: This is to save both of you!
Diana: Please, wait Sigma!
Phi: Don't! Stop!
Sigma: If I don't, we all die!

Phi: Please, both of you... Survive this.
Diana: Phi...
Phi: ... I love you both.

Zero: The fate of the world rests on your decisions... So then... What will you do?
Zero: That said... Sweet Dreams...

I'm just hoping that we didn't accidentally see something spoilerly that's obvious. I mean, the 999 trailer had
Ace holding the gun
and the VLR trailer had
Dio holding the detonator
, but you don't understand either of those till after you played the game. The second VLR trailer, though, had
Alice killing herself
front and center, which kiiiiinda ruined any mysteries revolving around
who killed Alice.

As a person who deeply appreciates the story of 999 and VLR, I couldn't care less for the stiff animations of the game...

give me that mindfuck conclusion!!!
