"Rendering a frame in Kingsglaive takes between 30 and 100 hours!"

Oh, and I just wondered, could this be Cor's father or so?

How long until we can render this frame in 16 ms? :(

Yeah... I'm wondering if the original idea of escaping from Insomnia took up a big chunk of the game leading to Nomura's idea of multiple entries. So they changed it.

Just a theory anyway.

Yeah, maybe Nomura had in mind some kind of Midgar sized story arc for the Insomnia invasion. I always pictured it as a 2 hours setpiece, but maybe his intention was to make it a bigger portion of the game.

I used to think too hard on stuff like this, but knowing that Kingsglaive's been in the works since 2013 just makes everything I thought of not make sense anymore. It would have been dope if there was an entire game dedicated to moments like this, though. I think Insomnia's set piece would have been like 2 hours, with establishing events being an additional 2 hours.

Whatever the case, the 2011 opening CG was awesome. I don't think the rest of Versus and now XV is like that CG. There's too much fantasy going on at any given time compared to that scene.

I like the variety that Kingsglaive has, but I don't like how Western they are. Square is a Japanese dev, they don't have to hide it.

I wouldn't go to a Japanese restaurant and order a burger and fries.

Count me on the "the original Insomnia escape intro is the one thing i'm going to miss the most and the one i'm really mad about they changed" train.

Whenever Nomura talked about Versus and the story it always seemed like getting the crystal back was the end goal, and that the game would just be the invasion, us roadtripping to Niflheim, doing things along the way, eventually getting the crystal back then going back to Lucis, the end.

They mentioned that they condensed Versus and its sequels into a single game with XV in 2012, so maybe the Versus sequels was going to deal with the rapid aging of the king and the Plague of the Stars, and now that they condensed it all into one game it feels like going to Niflheim to get the crystal back and reclaiming Lucis is just one act of the game, with the rapid aging of the king and the Plague of the Stars being the overarching story for the later acts.

They also said that condensing the story into one game is one of the reasons for why they changed Stella's role into Luna's role and that resulted in the intro changing.

It's something done to get a different audience interested in the game itself. Based on the reactions in this thread, it's working. People who were interested in FFXV the game still are. They did facial capture for the key characters as well, and we know there's no actual person who looks like Luna or Ardyn.

I was initially disappointed too when it started to look like the Versus intro was no more. But now that we have Kingsglaive, I'm ok with it. I was mostly bummed with us possibly not seeing what happens in Insomnia in much detail, but with this movie I'll be satisfied with getting that epic intro, though details have changed. Even if it's not by us controlling Noctis through the invasion chaos, we still get to see shit going down.

This is why we barely have any diversity in multimedia. Look at how much complaining there is about the characters having an Asian aesthetic to them and not looking 100% white.

Insomnia takes a ton of influence from and IIRC some places are almost 1:1 replicas of Tokyo. So they kinda are.

Insomnia being based on Tokyo doesn't make Lucis Tokyo, the characters still aren't Asian.

Noctis and Luna are the only characters in the entire game that you could even make an argument for as being "Asian", and even then they look mixed. Everyone else we've seen in the game looks Caucasian.

They went from casting their main characters with people such as her:

Serah, Cloud

to him:

Regis

The woman at the top was never cast as anyone in XV so I don't see what that has to do with anything regarding XV, also even Regis's original Nomura face design looked Caucasian, he looked almost exactly like Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.

I disagree with you on Regis' old design not looking Asian.

And if this doesn't look like an Asian face to you, I don't know what to tell you.

Isn't the majority of the XV universe based off of western countries? I recall they sent the scout to Europe for inspiration?

Also the story is Shakespearean which is Anglo-English

Whitewashing is garbage, but I don't think you need to worry about this here. This is made to get people interested in FFXV, a game with Asian looking characters. It's a similar yet different case.

Also. NAORAAAAAA.

There's an anime in addition to this movie.

Something something whitewashing yet again
Is it really whitewashing if the rest of the game is based on a western aesthetic? Gothic sculptures, ornate stylings, etc.

I prefer the character designs of Kingsglaive because it fits the rest of the game better. It's the cherry on top the ties the rest of the game's style. I guess if Noctics looked more realistic rather than anime I wouldn't be complaining but then again that's a different argument ha

The setting for Kingsglaive is based on Tokyo though.

Prompto's new hair and face are much better. Still not a big fan his design though (Cor is still da best).

Clothes on the other hand... ugh.

Wtf was Nomura thinking with Roen?

I swear he did it so he would get their clothes for free. I only see him wearing Roen now.

He has Caucasian features, nose and facial structure, blonde hair, blue eyes, freckles, I'm not sure how you are seeing Prompto as ever being Asian, not in his 2013 design or even in his Versus design did he look Asian. Having anime style hairstyles doesn't mean a character is Asian.

Regis also always looked Caucasian, like I mentioned before he looked just like Alan Rickman did as Hans.
