Nintendo's 2015 Fiscal Year Financial Results Briefing | 10:00 AM JST

HD games are hard work
Yeah I'm confused and I believe people are living in an alternative universe. PS4 and Xbox one's first year was abysmal and the rate of games released is still pretty sparse compared to previous generations. It takes significantly more time and development to make these games. Nintendo also had to develop NX before Nintendo could even start working on games for the project as well. Not too mention their entire internal structure and staff was moved and overhauled. As well as Iwata dying. I don't think people realize how small Nintendo is. Nintendo's about due for another Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Retro Studio project, as well as Wii U ports and smaller projects they've partnered with other developers on. However, the delay could be for any number of factors and they never anounced a release date for NX to begin with. Usually 3rd party developers complain that Nintendo doesn't give them enough time to create a game for their system by launch. Maybe this will allow for more 3rd parties to get games released during the launch window as well as making sure those games aren't rushed, buggy messes.

3D Land and Mario kart 7 are, what, 4 years old now?

Not to this degree, and not with what we know of the software line-up internally. We wouldn't be getting Emily's rumors if the software development was a mess and delayed.

I've been wondering about that. Manufacturing delay is one of the only things that make much sense, and if they weren't using something "new" then a manufacturing delay probably wouldn't be an issue.

It could just be software, but I doubt that's the only reason. Nintendo has had teams done with Wii U/3DS software for years now.

Nod.

Other signs also point to hardware related delays, the issue is knowing the reason.

I had to import the Splatoon OST. Great soundtrack by the way... never made available in USA. The report notes that Nintendo wants to leverage the Splatoon IP with stuff like you see in the picture above, but... most of that stuff is no where to be found in America. AFAIK.

Digital sales growth is the silver living here.

Amiibo is interesting, its YoY growth was huge, but its last quarter was a YoY decline.

Nintendo needs to release more amiibo more quickly and/or there is a limited audience for the things. It'll be interesting to see. There should be a LOT more potential since its Nintendo, all their franchise, and something like Skylanders has sold 10x more figures LTD.

Splatoon has reach cultural status in Japan, the only reason it isn't a multi million seller it's because is a Wii U game.

That game will be day and date with the NX.

I would buy the Splatoon OST in a heartbeat. Nintendo should make a deal with itunes to sell all of their music on the site. My wallet would burn.

I imported the artbook and would probably buy an english version if it ever got officially released.

That's understandable; Smash launched amiibo a year ago with a massive line. Nothing comparable this past year
That was actually the quarter before (Q3/15).

Its not bad or anything, I just think there is a lot of upside potential in Amiibo and they should be pushing harder. The TTL segment is still huge and theres no reason Amiibo should be doing worse than Skylanders/Disney Infinity/Lego Dimensions. Its not going to last forever, get in while the going is good.

That's the biggest issue. Amiibo aren't really TTL as Nintendo hasn't put out a true TTL game yet. Hopefully the NX will get one.

Nah, Amiibo is done. Every major character is covered, some more than once and, besides a few cornerstones, they don't work outside of Smash Bros.

Skylanders continues to sell like it does because it's cross-platform, forward compatible, there's yearly new software to leverage the toys and there are brand new designs with every release.

Like every Nintendo platform they've starved Amiibo of software support and because they rarely deviate outside their major franchises, there's little scope for expanding the range in any meaningful way to grow the market.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking nintendo's going to expand amibo in the NX years by pushing it heavily towards third parties as a way to get exclusive content in third party games (pretty sweet bargining chip) and as a new platform to collect royalties.

We still have Cloud, Corrin, & Bayonetta's Amiibos on the way.

I just want Zelda weapons in The Witcher 4. I'd get it over the PC just for that is it runs well.

790,000 unique players over a 24-hour event in 1 game… I don't get why many people still assert that noone plays online on Nintendo hardware.

Even if it did, there's no reason it's not simply referring to Robobot (granted isn't that out today in Japan?), Federation Force, and Sun & Moon.

They explicitly said unannounced 3DS games. And there will be some. There always is. They keep popping up out of nowhere and will serve to fill out the release schedule for the rest of the year.

Am I the only one that's happy that Nintendo is selling the Seattle Mariners?

It didn't seem like the biggest money-making venture for them and baseball fans hated Howard Lincoln nearly as much as I do (albeit for entirely different reasons), so if they can sell the team potentially at a profit now that there's no risk of them packing up and leaving Seattle, isn't that a win for everyone overall?

Yes we would, they just wouldn't be seen as credible rumours. Even her rumours are questioned for their credibility.

I've been wanting them to sell their stake in the Mariners for years. The only reason to hold on was to sell when they got good... unfortunately that never happened. :p But overall I agree with you.

It's good news.

I guess we know what E3 will be about. It's going to be Zelda U and new 3DS games announced along with Paper Mario, Pokemon S/M.

I mean, yeah it's a good thing, but there's already a thread for that. That being said the investment is gonna pay off with a cool half a billion dollars after the initial purchase back in 1992.
