Left Alone

This is an indie horror game that released yesterday. I played it yesterday along with Back in 1995, and I thought I should bring this game up. It was actually MUCH better than I was expecting. It starts off just okay, but it gets better as it goes along. It has some great atmosphere and sound design, and managed to actually completely unnerve me and make me very paranoid at a couple parts.

Has some rather cryptic puzzles and doesn't rely on jump scares. It was actually a really good experience, and want to see if I can convince more people to try it for those who are interested in this sort of thing.

My full Steam review:
Left Alone is a first-person psychological horror-puzzle game about a man named Joel who was left by his family while in a coma, and has found himself in a miserable life where his only real companions are two friends he made while he was at war (where he earned a medal of honor). He's an ex-soldier now, and with his only real friends returning from overseas, they agree to go camping and fishing to reunite and share stories. However, things go south when his two friends arrive there before him and get trapped in a nearby abandoned school...

This game was much better than I anticipated it to be. To be honest it doesn't give the best first impression, and there's roughness about the title (some objects and models you can clip and walk right through being the biggest thing), but this game nails what it sets out to do.

This game actually completely unnerved me. I wasn't expecting it to, I am a horror veteran who has played all eras of the genre, and I've gotten harder to scare over time. And it doesn't accomplish this with jump scares or cheap tactics, it has some excellent sound design and slowly builds up a really thick atmosphere and creepy antagonist. You read about the people before you, and small things happen as you explore. It got to the point where I started feeling incredibly paranoid, and I admit I got completely spooked for a good 10 minutes. Rare for me, and worth bringing up.

Which also highlights the game's excellent sound design and slow burn elements. Sound brings a lot to horror, and they nailed it here. The music is appropriately spooky, as are the sounds, and most fit with the scenes so well I hardly noticed them, and yet they succeeded in unnerving me. Really helped the immersion factor, and knew when to go quiet too.

And this is to be said; the game is a bit slow. It builds up its scenario, you spend some time exploring rooms. And the game has puzzles, some relatively challenging ones at that. There were a couple points I was stuck at a puzzle for 10-15 minutes before eventually solving it; none are really too hard once you figure them out, but many give you cryptic or little information you need to piece together to figure out the solution.

With all of this comes a rather nice story, though I will admit while the ending wasn't bad I kind of wished they would of explored it more.

There's not a whole lot for me to say on the game. It's a fantastic psychological atmosphere piece with some great mood, cryptic puzzles, and builds itself up nicely. If that sounds up your alley, I'd recommend it.

The threads slow posting this month could be partially attributed to everyone playing Dark Souls.

well there's that and there appears to have been some sort of exodus because some folks didn't like stuff that was happening so some regulars aren't posting any longer.

regardless, im sure the next major steam sale will bring some folks in. And, no, this anime caca sale doesnt count

The Division here, sad as it is to say. I haven't made much progress in Souls3 at all. Like, not even a character created. But I've installed it! And I think about how I'd like to start it every time the old lady scrolls right by it to get going on another 200 hours of Stardew Valley...

But I've personally not posted as much due to people not putting enough respect on my name.

Comparing Summer sale or Winter Seal to such sales is ludicrous.
Stop being ludicrous, child.

For UK people, Tesco has TMNT Mutants in Manhattan for £14 pre order

http://www.tesco.com/direct/teenage...016-pc/256-6015.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=256-6015

Now be careful as I remember last year they had problems with Transformers Devastations and never seemed to get it in (the PC retail release of that game had problems just like this one seems to have)

Weird, German Ama offered the PC Retail for cheap AF too, but they cancelled all orders and threw it out of the program.

Dammit.

Now you've done it.

Anyone bought this one yet? Review seems good enough. Looks like a solid SRPG with meaningful choices and character building.

And apparently, you can marry up to
ten women and have children from each.

wolfenstein the new order is 85% off, which brings it to 9 dollars which is its lowest price according to enhanced steam, plus there's a 20% off coupon bringing it to $7.20

worth it?

also worried it's gonna show up in the humble monthly lol
Not bad, not bad. Even more enticing now that I learned uncensored games become "easily playable" in Germany 3 months after activation.

The Mega Drive classics sale is weird. Everything is discounted with the exception of anything Sonic related(could sorta makes sense because Sonic) and the Toejam and Earl games(because reasons?).

I got one early April, but there was nothing I wanted to buy at the time that would take the coupon (like Dark Souls 3 season pass for example).
Oh, you had your birthday last month. I must have missed it. Happy belated bday! We're also not friends on Steam surprisingly. Let's rectify that.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Looks like playfire is trying to get rewards running again

So they got rid of Playfire rewards, then they got rid of the VIP section of the store. Now they've combined them. That 27% off is only 7% more than the standard 20% off coupon, and the game in question is only $20.

So you play a game for 2 hours, and get to save an extra $1.40. Cool.

Bought the game upon reading your review. Seems the kind of horror game I enjoy the most. Out of curiosity, how long is it

Spirited

Mine is pretty and pink
Yeah seems like a lot of regulars stopped posting.
I've almost stopped but can't say I contributed much anyway both in quantity and quality of comments.

I took a little over 3 hours, but I think a lot of it would do with how much you explore, and how good you are at its puzzles, so I would estimate 2-4 hours.
