Finally, finally done with all Covenant work in DS3. 60 items through "co-op" with friends rather easily, 180 items painfully, very painfully through rare enemy drops in PvE.

But I've done it. I've done it all! Woohoo!!

I went to a specialized High-School. Mechanical & Electronic Engineering, so History & Business lessons were but a farce. Very basic sadly as I like History.

Infinifactory stands out. Remember Vlad liking it a lot. Might look into resellers. Hey, if the price is right, why not?

Rocket League was very well "discounted" when bought through Canada in the BundleStars 4-pack which already happened two times, so people who are exclusively interested in that might be better off waiting for the next time.

The article about the steam community being toxic makes no sense, it implies the whole of steam community is like that which is false.

The toxicity depends on the games , you are going to encounter a lot of raging and poor quality posts in mass games like call of duty and counter strike but for the rest the rage really depends on how the game is , if the dev/publisher has done something that offends the players they are going to get a lot of flak.

I hang out around the stardew valley, sega classics and many older games and age of empires threads and people are pretty friendly and tend to put up good discussions.

first, spoilertag some of that stuff, dks2 is not that old and those are big ass spoilers

i don't mind your analysis but i think you're kind of missing the point of dks2.
dks2 isn't a direct sequel, while some aspects of the game strongly suggest that it happens after dks1, it's also got some parallel universe stuff going on that makes it less of a linear continuation of 1.

yeah that's kind of a copout, but the game is strongly themed around repeating cycles and weird resurrections and stuff.
so to me it felt like a different world sharing themes rather than a direct sequel with the unanswered returns of ideas and characters and locations. i think it posed the question of why are these loose connections (which were hidden in ng+ iirc which made them a nice surprise for me on replay) happening? what's the nature of it? and maybe there's no real reason for it, but it was slight enough that it could've just been thematic references rather than direct story connections, i for the most part believed that and i'm cool with it, that's really acceptable for me because it had its own stories to tell

dks3 on the other hand is a lot more straightforward. tiny spoilers ahead, mostly about the first like half an hour of the game

some number of years passed, so this is how X looks now or this is what happened to Y character. it's cool, i guess, to see some fan favorites back, but it also felt pandering and devoid of substance and its own identity. i found it particularly annoying having

in ur freaking base and the guy never changes his dialogue in the whole damn game. you have like a billion questions to ask him and all he can talk about is how to upgrade your estus flask, which is funny cos the one time he got special dialogue i accidentaly skipped it cos i was so used to him repeating it. and like, you go to
anor londo and izalith
and what do you find? what does going there answer that wasn't already in dks1? and like you talked about the sunlight statue but there's a freaking giant tree like 15 minutes into the game that's there because idk it lookd cool. the new characters are alright, my appreciation of the game is a bit warped cos i failed a couple of the big quests and so i went back to the hub area a bunch to find ppl like the sorcerer having his lines unchanged for the whole game, or the pyromancy teacher changing it like twice. whatshername bonfire lady is easily the most boring bonfire lady ever, somehow having less personality than emerald herald. to me dks3 feels like they rushed it and the story and characters paid for it

and i don't think dks2 was amateurish, i think that's unfair to the game because imo it's really solid even if it doesn't manage to capture the magic of 1. dks3 comes a bit closer because at least the dungeon design and the boss fights are for the most part really good, but frankly i think the story stuff is trash and i think the souls series deserved a much better sendoff than what we got. i wanted something that felt like closure, it didn't have to tie everything together but it should've felt like an ending, and instead i feel like i got the part 2 of a trilogy or something

If a covenant has no items I'm gonna use, I couldn't give a damn about grinding for it, Darkmoon blade is exactly the same as freaking Lightning blade except it deals magic damage, useless.

Also Dark Souls 2 best Souls game. :p

Problem is, getting all the cheevos requires you to grind these covenants for the item/magic.

Which is shitty. It was bad in DS2 and it's worse in 3.

Well, we're still getting two big DLC's to do that job. Not really ideal, but then again, having DS3 beeing the big end and then still having DLC's after that would be weird.

I considered going the route of selling the key, especially since it's a hot item (for good reason) but I'll probably just eat it and give it to a SteamGaffer.

That's not a testament to my wealth, by the way. Because wealth I damn sure don't have. It is a monument to my laziness. Easily the laziest on the East Coast, probably US-wide. Really hoping this year to be a global contender.

it wasn't a big deal in dks2, grinding the bellbros guys was annoying but it's nowhere as bad as it is in 3

and like, i get that they want to encourage invasions and whatnot, but if the requirements were smaller i'd feel a lot more enthusiastic about it

having to farm 30 tongues of going 1v2 or 1v3 of "who has the more estus!" duels isn't great and yea you can buy undead charms and there's a lot of ohk moves but the game's also really laggy and either way you're not gonna get 30 invades right

so like doing like 70 invades or whatever it takes sounds awful, specially since u need to do that with like 3 different covenants?

i think dks3 is still better than 2 because at the end of it the things i care the most are exploration and boss fights and dks2 was also a disappointment

dks1 will be forever be the best dark souls and demons is the closest to my heart since it's the first (and it's also fucking awesome still)

Invisibility frames, so.....yeah. Sometimes that's what happens. Also some of the bosses, the best place is directly underneath or in front.

He clearly mistook the lightning attack for a start up of a sword swing, so the barrel-roll wasn't random at all. And due to i-frames, rolling into the boss is usually more effective.

I guess I'm pretty happy with my first Humble Monthly purchase. I'm enjoying Mad Max so that alone was worth it but none of the other games were really on my radar, but they all seem pretty high quality. Now I have to decide if I want Rocket League enough to gamble on next month.

That GI article reminded me of how little interaction I have with steam. All I do is launch it and click on the game I want to play.
I don't dig around looking for games I might find interesting because I don't even have the time or money to play the ones I already know about so the wishlist is pretty much the only tool I use. And the market to sell cards I guess.
Never used the forums, only MP I do is co-op with my brother.

I only go there if I need a game tweak and Google says to go.

I personally find Dark Souls 3 to be a disappointment in terms of lack on replayability, no hard mode covenant, no enemy placement changes for NG+, reliance on Dark Souls 1 nostalgia, no invasions or friendly summoning in areas where you've beaten the boss, no PVP arena. Its just overall missing a lot of the things that kept me playing Dark Souls 2 for 781 hours, which is a damn shame because I like it more than the first game because of the boss fights.
