@OnLeaks, famous leaker of mobile phones, just posted this rumour round up about the iphone 7. the original article is from Feb 3rd but it was updated around one hour ago.

the full article is here: https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/iphone_7_deals/#latest_rumour

some information:

iPhone-7-WATERMARKED.jpg

Leaked blueprints for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have given us our most detailed look yet at the handsets due for release in four months’ time.

Exclusive renders sourced on behalf of uSwitch by @OnLeaks, AKA Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowwhereelse.fr, confirm that both editions will ditch common-or-garden headphone jacks, forcing customers to use wireless headphones or buy new ones that connect via the Lightning Dock.

The blueprints/renders, which come to us via Apple subcontractor Catcher Technology,
also add heft to claims that the Plus edition will be equipped with a superior dual lens camera. Those of you who opt for the standard iPhone 7 will have to make do with a single lens camera.

Both phones’ cameras protrude from their casing, in keeping with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. But this time around, there’s no metal ring around the lens.

To further differentiate the larger model, which has been variously dubbed the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro by tech-watchers, Apple will also equip it with a Smart Connector on the rear. This new port, which debuted on the iPad Pro, will not be present on the standard-sized iPhone 7.

Once again that tallies with long-standing rumours that the iPhone 7 Plus will offer support for a new set of dedicated accessories, as well as existing iPad Pro add-ons such as the Smart Keyboard.

And in news that may disappoint audiophiles and music fans, Apple has opted for a single speaker rather than, as was widely rumoured, a more powerful dual speaker set-up.

We’re also assured by our source that although the top and bottom antenna lines on the rear of the phone are not visible, they will be visible on the edges on the finished model. The lines crossing the back are gone for good.

Dimensions of both models are unchanged from last year, with the iPhone 7 coming in at 138.30x67.12x7.1mm and the iPlus 7 Plus measuring 158.22x77.94x7.3mm.

Apple is set to lift the lid on the iPhone 7 in September. The renders here are 3-4 months old and are taken from Apple's January testing stage, so may differ from the final product.

According to reports, Apple will fit the iPhone 7 with a 3,100mAh battery. That's 12.5% larger than the iPhone 6S Plus.

The upside is that ought to mean the iPhone 7 lasts longer. The downside is that it’s likely the phone might be thicker to accommodate the larger battery.

Presumably that’s why Apple is reportedly set to double the onboard storage of the top-of-the-range iPhone to a whopping 256GB this year.

I thought the latest was that headphone jack is still in (using the exact same case as the 6S) and smart connector is out.

legit shocked

thought they'd go for 0.0000000000000000001mm thinner instead

The headphone jack is the most infuriating will-they-won't-they tech story in recent memory.

SE for now then, until Apple removes it from that, then anything but Apple phones.

oh good, they removed the headphone jack without making the phone thinner, or implementing dual-speakers, or generally doing anything of value that would even remotely justify it

Apple plans to produce a single iPhone 7 Plus that will ship with a dual-lens camera and 3GB of RAM to compensate for increased image processing demands, according to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that walks back from past reports suggesting Apple would produce two iPhone 7 Plus models.

"In a previous report, we said the new 5.5-inch iPhone model (referred to as iPhone 7 Plus), to be launched in 2H16, may come in two versions: one with rear single-camera and the other with rear dual-camera. However, we now believe Apple (US) will only roll out the dual-camera version in 2H16, with 3GB RAM to meet image processing requirements, and we estimate shipments of this model in 2016F of 20-30mn units."

Every product release nowadays simply underscores how important Steve Jobs was to Apple. No wonder the stock is tanking.

Steve am cry

The pencil is not a stylus, as much as people want to make that false equivalence. The context of that quote is "if you see a stylus (as the required method to control the UI for all situations), they failed."

The pencil is exactly what I was expecting Apple to eventually deliver as an optional art focused tool once the tech was good enough.

More and more this is looking like a phone to skip. I still believe people are going to have a huge problem with the headphone jack being removed.

Not expanding the Smart Connector to all models seems like an odd choice.

Still, vastly bigger battery capacity is lovely news. It's not sexy but it's the best upgrade the iPhone could get.

I've been planning on upgrading from my iPhone 5 to a 7 for about two years now. I might just skip it if the headphone jack is removed. Not sure if I'll just get an older model or switch to Android.

Nice, 3GB of ram sounds juicy. I'm happy that I have a Bluetooth receiver for my headphones so I really don't need a headphone jack

Man, that's some cold snitchery right there.

If all this turns out to be true, I hope this thing shits the bed. Apple needs a good kick in the ass.

I know it has been beaten like a dead horse, but if the camera is going to protrude from the case, why take out the headphone jack (and bigger battery)? Other than that every looks great. Hopefully they have wireless charging.

Really wanted to jump back to iphone too. Oh well :(

I just want a phone that doesn't slow down over time. My HTC One M9 is crying at opening apps. Then again it is HTC.

I'm guessing the Smart Connector is there so you can charge the phone and use lightning headphones at the same time. Just buy a $49 charging plate and you're golden.

Could also open up some interesting possibilities for MFi controllers, slide-out keyboards, etc.

Some thoughts and questions.

For me the removal of the headphone jack is only mildly offputting. If the headphones that Apple makes work well and don't fall apart like the current cable does for the lightning port, then great. One thing that does bother me is that the lightning port needs to be cleaned out periodically on my iPhone just from collecting lint in my pocket. That's something I've never had to do with my headphone jack. Alternatively, if the wireless headphones are really good, then I would see that as an even better solution. The reason being that I hate the tangle and mess of headphone cords.

So basically I'm taking a wait-and-see approach with regards to my opinion about the headphones.

A question I have is regarding the smart connector. Could that be used to connect the phone to a power source while you are using the lightning connector as the headphone jack?

Regardless, the iPhone 7+ or pro, whatever they call it, is going to be my next phone. My iPhone 5 is starting to fall apart.

I went 6 last time. I'm seriously considering plus this time around given battery and features though.

Once Apple removes the headphone jack, it is a safe bet that many flagships will follow.

That probably won't happen until USB-C's digital audio spec finally a thing and smooth enough (keep in mind that much of it will be software-dependant) for the consumer. And even then, marketing it will be everything but easy.

Apple is (at least partly) doing it because it's in a position where it can profit directly and indirectly from the sale of new accesories, which is not the case for Samsung or any other manufacturer, which in turns removes a huge incentive for them to ditch the good old minijack. Specially since you can have both Bluetooth audio and wired one.

It's a shame people will unfortunately buy into their reasoning for ditching the headphone jack.

It is indeed tiresome seeing the same old rhetoric brought up.

The Pencil is an art tool, not a stylus.

Wow.

So what exactly will be new for the 4.7" iPhone 7? Newer SoC and the absence of a headphone jack? That doesn't even warrant labeling it as a "7", especially if the Plus/Pro is going to have a dual camera system and a smart connector.

But how am I supposed to troll Apple supporters when they seem to love playing themselves over and over again in a mad dash to get the newest and best while the hardware they use is years behind the curve and more expensive than 99% of the market?

It's infuriating. The antithesis of efficiency! rabble rabble normies get out reee.
