DOOM – Launch Trailer

I have a couple questions.

1. Does anyone know if the pre-order bonuses will be purchasable separately afterwards?

2. Does anyone know if ordering a retail PC version from Amazon will negate my need to download 50 GB of the game's data on Steam? Basically will be data on the disc be all or most of what I need? I'd prefer to get the retail version for the artwork but I'd also like the ability to play it on day one. I currently have slow internet so downloading 50 Gb will take up my entire weekend which is the only time I'll have this week to play it.

Thanks.

It only comes on one DVD on PC so you'll have to download approx 35GB from Steam.

Everytime I pre-order on Greenmangaming I end up mad they haven't given me my key for preload when it starts. Why do I keep putting myself through this lol

Hoooooooooooooold up. How does this schmuck get his hands on a copy to do video of and give his "impressions"... But reputable organizations like Giant Bomb, Gamespot, IGN, etc, etc, etc, can't do anything of the sort until release day?

This shit bothers me to no end.

Edit: Can't hear sound in video. Apparently the dude played it at Bethesda. Cool.

Uhhhh, he states in the video that he played it at the Bethesda offices in London on a PS4.

You should really watch the whole video before jumping to conclusions....

Last couple of times I’ve pre ordered from them, last time being fo4; I got the key the day before release. Here's hoping they send out the codes for Doom by Thursday.

I'm at work, in a large factory, and can't hear any video ever.

All the same, did press play it on Bethesda's recent tour?

Sooo, yesterday I was able to play it for a few more hours... And I can tell you that the campaign is definitely NOT a 6 hour thing.
It's probably not gonna be as meaty as the one in Wolfenstein TNO, but it's something that will keep you entertained for some hours, surely above 10 considering my experience (I don't know my exact play time, but I'm above 10 hours for sure, probably around 12-13... and I think I'm getting close to see the credits, but not really there yet).

Overall, I'm having tons of fun with this game (just to tell you how much I enjoy this mindless demon slaying affair, I felt THE NEED to play this this morning just before leaving for work, so I arrived 20' late to my office, LOL), but I'm still convinced the opinions will be polarized, mainly due to the emphasis on the Glory Kills and the particular kind of combat (because, as I stated in my previous post, that sort of arena structure is where it's really all at, and not everybody will dig this approach).
However, if you are ok with it and decide to take the game for what it is - instead of comparing it to what you might (even legitimately) expect - playing by its rules... I think you're probably gonna have a blast.

Anyone else get their code from GMG?

I bought it off GMG and entered the code they sent me, which unlocked the free bonus of Doom 3 BFG, but Doom still isn't listed in my steam games like it is when you buy it direct from Steam prior to release.

Will it show up later, or will they send me a separate code later, or... ?

EDIT: Sorry for being ignorant, I just saw the comment a few up from me. Looks like we'll get our code at or right before release, I suppose.

I guess preload is up for all platforms? Downloading it now on PS4...time to get this meaty 50GB out of the way for Friday. lol

Do we have any info on the singleplayer performance on Ps4 and X1? I wanna decide which version I should get. I'd buy the X1 version as I have the Elite controller which I absolutely adore, but I'm afraid performance won't be as good as PS4.....Help?

Where is the official thread?

tomorrow
But i can post the OT now if allowed, not sure

1080P 60FPS on both. Love that X1 controller! Already pre-loaded and ready to go. Can't wait!

I thought you could turn off glory kills?

I'll only play if you cab turn those off and completely disable even the prompt

This sucks. Amazon usually delivers late in the evening so I probably won't play till late Friday night after the huge download. Anyway to preload without Amazon retail key?

What platform are you playing on?

Amazon didn't want to ship my CE til the release date, meaning even with Prime - I'd get it Monday. So yeah, cancelled. Best Buy can deliver on release date (plus that sweet GCU discount + $10 gift card)

I don't have as much time as I'd like to play games anymore. Hell, I haven't even cleared NG on DS3 yet.

But I'm putting that aside for Doom. It's one of those games where I make it a point to beat them all on the hardest difficulty, and I am looking VERY forward to doing the same here.

Pre-ordered for PS4, hopefully it'll pre-load and come Friday I'll be able to play as soon as work is finished.

Even Bethesda's store says their shipping the CE on Friday, so yeah, weird stuff.

The only caveat about ordering CE through Best Buy is that no stores within 250 miles would offer an in store pickup. And that's not just because it was the PC version either. I tried for PS4 and same thing. It seems like Best Buy (in particular) won't be stocking the CE in stores. That, or I'm just really unlucky, but given I live in a very large metropolitan city (Austin, TX) I find it hard to believe that NO store within 250 miles would allow in store pickup. But still, Best Buy claim to have it delivered on Friday - so fair enough.

Either way, I'll be at work, so I'm having it shipped here - going to redeem the code on Steam at work, download the additional data, put it on my External HDD then take it home. Why? Because I have satellite internet and downloading 45GB of extra data would put me over my monthly bandwidth cap three times over. No joke.

Can't wait!

Preload started (GMG Steam key).

Unsure whether to activate BFG edition i got as pre-order bonus or give it away.
On one hand, i'get Doom 1+2. On the other hand, i'm not terribly interested in playing them (have Doom 1 on 360 anyway) and i already have Doom 3+Resurrection of Evil on Steam.

Posted this in the other thread but might as well post it here too:
Received the game today but have a question.

How do you unlock the challenges? On the second level (after the intro level) and it tells me it's unavailable. There's a room that I'm unable to access which I'm sure is a challenge room. Any help?

My CE just shipped from Best Buy!

I think you can only disable the blue visual feedback, don't know if you can completely turn them off honestly.
Also because they are pretty linked to the way you actually fight in the game (they give you rewards).

Does each campaign playthrough have its own save slot or does it do the thing where playing through levels just "unlocks" them and if you replay earlier ones it keeps all the collectables you've found? I might save Nightmare for a second run (assuming I think it's worth a replay) and would prefer to start from a blank slate, curious if that's an option.

I got my game preloading right now on Steam, it opened up last night at midnight on PS4 as well

I'm not sure if anyone else knows about this.

Won't this get a Win10 release too? The Doom store page takes me to the WinStore when I select the PC platform to buy.

If it does, that's where I'll be spending my money.

But if not it's all good, my Steam controller awaits.

No it's only on PC via Steam. Every Bethesda published game has always been on there

That's a good call. It's the only 100% reliable way to completely stamp out the upcoming plague of unauthorized mods.

As i said in another thread, this is how a shooter gameplay trailer should be done.
A competent player playing fast and effectively.

None of that slow-ass "look around slowly and shoot poorly" stuff we usually get.
"It is to show off graphics!", someone says.
Well, that fast video sure shows the graphics as well, they look pretty damn good at that speed.
