Is Destiny: Rise of Iron the next Destiny Expansion?

If this is set in Old Russia then count me out. If not then I'm probably still out, but we'll see, just been burned so many times before.

Been waiting for a real reason to get back into this game, it has so many good things going for it: fantastic concept, great controls etc. But I can't take the levels of repetition.

I can take some, but I just feel ripped off with how many times they expect you to replay the same stuff.

Seriously, I know they still have plenty of people playing and I won't be missed, but I GENUINELY LOVED this game for over a hundred hours until I saw through it, my friends too.

I know it's successful, but I think with a little less greed and a little more content for the money, this game could've been unstoppable.

Looks interesting, maybe is the continuation of the plot with the missing kell of the kings trying to take the last city, as the hologram in that house of wolves mission seems to imply.

So do you expect an infinite amount of fresh content to go through? No matter how much new content they add, repetition will always be involved if you intend to play for a long amount of time.

It just screams IRON BANNER. Dude looks exactly like Lord Saladin, has wolves in it, he's holding a hammer, Jolder was a Titan, an Iron LORD and he used a hammer in battle.

Every time i look at the image i think it's fake.

makes sense that things would start to leak now considering how close we are to E3

i assume this will be an announcement at the sony conference or something

If this is the expansion, maybe time travel shenanigans to the Battle of Twilight Gap? Not sure how a raid would fit in though.

Also weren't the hints about the content being related to Cabal? Or was that Destiny 2?

Will return to play my 20-30 hours of new content and then move on to the next thing, just like I did with TTK. I've decided it's a good relationship to have with Destiny.

Ah, this must be the one where they explain why the Fallen, who are aliens, know about wolves and use wolf idioms.
I haven't played this game in like a year and half and even I know the L O R E answer to this.

Fallen house names and a lot of their language we translate is just humanity/awoken finding the closest approximations in our language to their words.

Of course, the real answer is who honestly gives a fuck because whatever ~wolves r rad~

Real or not I'm excited for the expansion they have in store for this year. My friends and I absolutely loved Taken King.

yes excellent point. I hope this is finally the expansion where they explain how the fallen, who are aliens, know what wolves are, and why they use wolf idioms and metaphors

Hmm, might be time to return to the Cosmodrome. I expected something to come out of this E3 and looking forward to further news on this.

This needs to have lots of new environments for me to jump back in . I'm not trudging back through old Russia again. Even if it's a whole new area of the planet they need some new locations .

Loved my time with destiny but I hope they have at least double the taken kings content and some new planets , not just s pretty small spaceship.

Damn, that's one hell of an expansion. For whatever reason I thought there was word of a smaller freebie being released after Taken King.

Yep, that's what just launched...the "April Update." Just a new quest line, higher level Prison of Elders, some new weapons and gear, and a higher light level cap (might be missing a couple things). No new playable areas or anything.

Rise of Iron should include a raid and probably a new playable area. Probably will get announced on Sony's E3 stage.

Read my post again.

Note that I said I don't like the level of repetition expected. I don't mind it, but it's undeniable that Destiny takes it to the extreme, especially PvE wise.

Talking about Destiny 2 do you think we'll get a reveal at E3 or do you think the only announcement will get Destiny related is the DLC?

I think I remember reading the raid on Mars is planned for Destiny 2?

I think Jason's report months ago speculated it'd be split out for the Fall Expansion in addition to the new spaces on Mars, but it seems they might be holding it for Destiny 2 now? I have a feeling Destiny 2 is going to be an all-out war with the Cabal based on them sending a distress call to their empire.

I think it will just be the expansion. No real need to talk Destiny 2 yet, especially if Destiny 2 isn't launching until September. If there is a content drought again, like this year, they need to save all the Destiny 2 talk they can for early next year to hide the fact nothing is really happening with Destiny 1.

I can't wait to see all of the recycled content.

This is what scares me. I'm thinking when Destiny 2 got delayed they had no idea they were going to make another expansion for Destiny 1 so they are just gonna reuse assets like crazy and recycle content to get 1 more out of this.

Fuck. If the next expansion mostly PVP focused they have lost me for life.

Just because Saladin is on the poster it doesn't mean it's PVP focused. He's more than just a dude that sells you PVP items.

This expansion, just like TTK will offer content for both PVE and PVP players.

I better prepare my screen. It could get money thrown right at it.

If it is old Russia BS with more reused assets again (I'm okay with some but Destiny has done it too much) then I am out until Destiny 2. Which according to that article is also going through some stuff.

More info

Rise of Iron’s raid is based loosely on the raid that was cut from last year’s House of Wolves DLC, according to sources. At one point Bungie had planned to launch it in April, but it was delayed a while back.

Destiny news just bums me out now. I really love the game, but the lack of matchmaking for the higher level events means I will never get to see any of it, so continuing to play is kinda pointless.

In January, as we reported earlier this year, Bungie moved its internal target for Destiny 2 to 2017. Replacing D2 in this fall’s slot will be Rise of Iron, although it’s not clear what else Bungie will release between then and September of next year. From what we hear, Destiny 2 was recently rebooted, with Taken King director Luke Smith taking the reigns of that project in the wake of a Bungie staff reorganization.

Sounds like another mess.

I really hope Destiny 2 has multiple raids rather than just 1.

I feel the same as do many Guardians, 1 raid a year is not enough to sustain a playerbase this ravenous. Space out 2+ raids over a year please.

Corner cutting however, has been a thing in year 2, holding back exotics, 1 raid, no return for SRL and no real vendor update since September (I know they changed the perks but in year 1 we had 3 sets of Vanguard and Crucible weapons and gear), dishing out new gear and ships in treasure boxes is lame too.

Spektar and Taken gear should have been quest rewards not random, purchasable fluff.

I'll be back for the next expansion, I'll log in now and again until then but I hope year 3 is meatier than year 2 (and please, no pets!)
