Person of Interest – The Fifth and Final Season |OT| "Thank you for creating me."

Hey all IRL still last few weeks sorry about my late post.

Have not have time yet to put everything so far into context and or write a lot of stuff up.
This season so far is fantastic.
NOT amazing but fantastic.

For now just wanted to trow in my prediction for the end and leaf it at that.
This is just speculation and nothing else but still I'll spoiler tag it just in case.

It ends with everything destroyed.
Everyone is dead all the main cast.
But Root voice over about their story is still going and we assume that both ASI destroyed each other but then the a pay phone rings it gets picked up by a "human" who does not say anything, and we do not see who it is.
Just the Machine who says "CAN ... YOU ... HEAR ... ME?".

PS: I'll prop check in on the thread from here until the 2nd to final ep after that its blackout time until I have seen the final 2 eps.

PPS: That love scene with Shaw and Root though !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG

Really wished this show wasn't ending just the story telling behind it.

Also love the difference in the machine now it's a open machine and the fact that it isn't shackled by any restrictions I'm hoping that we see some change in the machine to combat Samaritan

Yeah, total dick move. Imagine a pure mythology season 5, 13 episodes of ASI madness.

That aside, after experiencing this show I'm really psyched to see how Westworld turns out.

seriously it's the same bullshit every superhero show goes through about the hero not telling the love interest to protect her.

To be fair though, on this show we routinely see people get mercilessly gunned down over stuff that they know. Reese and Shaw used to be part of that business specifically.

From that interview

"Without getting into specifics of the way the storytelling works, when we submitted certain final episodes and they did not draw a note, that was when we knew that we had taken the right course of action,” Nolan said.

Everyone gonna die, aren't they?

Tonight I'm binging on everything I've missed so far. Just finished 'SNAFU'. Man, that was such a hilarious beginning.

And then that conversation with the Machine. Emerson just kills it.

Continuing with the person of the week idea this season is laughable. "The future of humanity is as stake, but we gotta save this one guy in the Bronx!" I'm glad to hear it was CBS' awful decision though, the writers get to keep their dignity.

Eh.

At first it was because Reese is kind of a dick and treats both Carter and Fusco like assets and not partners.

Samaritan has made not telling Lionel a matter of keeping him alive. He is already being looked very closely at, him knowing may change his behavior enough to tip off Samaritan.

I still don't agree with Reese, Finch and Root and the way they treat Fusco. He is right, they should treat him with outmost respect.

Dude took a bullet for Reese, if I remember correctly. At this point it just feels like a stretched plot point. Fusco gonna get got.

Whereas, I think they should attempt to cut him off completly. They have to know anyone involved in this fight is fucked. Though, maybe if the machine was let off the leash some, allowing the gang some more resources, they could attempt to build some sort of army (with people that don't have as many attachments as Fusco)

I just realized the 100th episode is going to air next week.

At this point it feels like everything is rushing towards the end, and we're probably waiting until the finale for whatever deaths/sacrifices/tragedies are in store. But this is the 100th episode... they gotta have something in store, no? I wonder if they're gonna make this one count and shake things up. Could we get a major character death before the finale?

Whereas, I think they should attempt to cut him off completly.

That's the thing about Fusco though... he's a fungus.

I feel Team Machine either has to read him in now or after they're forced to come to his rescue, because he's not going to stop his investigation and it will absolutely get him killed.

I hope not, but damn, at this point it's probably safer to assume everybody is going to die.

Alright boys and girls, I am all caught up. I was overseas for a little while there, which is why I wasn't live with everyone.

To sum up my thoughts to date:

They're definitely firing on all cylinders now. Yes, it would have been better if it was all mythology at the end... but it kind of is, considering I think every case except for Finch is a drunk Irish uncle is connected back to either The Machine or to Samaritan. The building pieces for the finale are definitely there.

The Jeff Blackwell plotline is a really interesting one. I like seeing the perspective of someone gang-pressed into Samaritan's organization. Reminds me of the occasional viewpoints we'd get of ISA agents last season. It's a smart way of continuing to flesh out the world. Same with the arrival of Kieth David, who I'm sure will become important again (cause it's motherfucking Kieth David).

Samaritan, Greer, and Lambert are total shit-heads. Like, they're just so fucking evil and just blase about it. Loved seeing Shaw put one in Lambert and then hilariously re-assure him that since it's just a simulation, it'll all be okay. Fuck that guy.

Shaw's plotline is straight up craaaaaaazy. VR simulations, neuro-chips, brainwashing, we going full on crazy shit here. I'm happy she finally escaped, I just want her to get back and kick Samaritan agents in the teeth non-stop. But seriously, I felt bad for her while in Samaritan's clutches. That's one hell of a purgatory.

Team Machine being on the ropes but coming back to the Numbers and finding ways to defeat Samaritan (none of which seem... to be going great) is pretty great. I like that we're still seeing philosophical dialoguing going on, another thing that makes this show so much better than the other CBS dreck. Action scenes are great as usual.

I'm happy Elias survived! I think Finch will finally listen to Root and Elias soon and enlist any and all tactics and soldiers he can to finally finish this war. The Machine needs an upgrade.

Fusco's storyline is just so top-tier. His transformation from bumbling corrupt cop in the beginning to this goddamned magnificent lion-esque hero we have is just so good, one of the best character arcs of the last few years on television. Him being so dogged and committed to the truth and to justice is inspiring, and you know what... he's absolutely right on calling Team Machine out on their shit for not telling him. He has a right to know.

Considering the number of times that Fusco has straight up told the rest of the team that he knows they're keeping him at arm's length, and told them that it's not going to stop him from doing what he wants to do, at this point it's honestly more of a danger to try and "protect" him and let him go rogue rather than letting him in the door and knowing what he's actually up against. He already knows what Samaritan is doing within the city with the disappearances and "suicides" and "accidents," he just doesn't know that it's Samaritan in particular that's doing it...but at this point, how much of a difference does it make to pull him aside and tell him that?

He's already said in previous episodes that he's a cop, that he understands the risks associated with that job, he's been in tough situations (hell he was with them in the stock exchange trying to fight back an army ffs) and if he doesn't come out of one? It seems like he's at peace with that. In the first few seasons when he was being strong-armed into providing help, it made sense to keep him on the outs, but c'mon. At this point they know where his loyalties lie and what he's going to do, with or without them.

I mean I can see where team machine is coming from, the core team is still protected by the fiddling they did to Samaritan's servers but if Fusco discovers Samaritan he doesn't have that protection, he will always be in it's sights anytime he is heard or seen by surveillance.

Sure they can always take him to a safe spot and then tell him without Samaritan finding out but that just makes him more suspicious.

The point is, we're seeing him act suspicious (in Samaritan's eyes) already even with the team keeping him in the dark. Like this, now he's just tempting fate with no real idea of how to take any degree of precautions at all. Is it really any less dangerous of a situation, now that they've shut him out and he may not be able to rely on or even want their help/protection?

Finch and co. seem to think so.

I mean I'm with you, they should have told him, but I can at least see why they wouldn't want to.

At this point I want Fusco to discover it on his own though.

One thing they could have done, is gather all available information, and mass release it. The Government has a surveillance system that is spying and killing people that gets in its way. Start a mass panic that could maybe get the government to stop it, though it might not be possible to put Samaritan back in the bottle.

The problem is how could the team get it that far if Samaritan has the power to shut it down before it attracts government attention?

By making it so massive, that it'd have to disconnect TV's and internet or turn off all power. Something that could also be detrimental to itself.

New episode tonight. Get hype.

"Sotto Voce"

The elusive criminal known as "The Voice" traps Reese and Fusco in the precinct with several armed gang members and the latest POI; Root makes a startling discovery.

Also, to note, this will be the last week of double episodes. 11, 12, and 13 will be all on Tuesday following this week.

Spoiled myself on looking at the descriptions for the next two episodes a few nights ago.

I'm so hyped...especially for tomorrow...

Hyped for this, even though a new episode airing on Memorial Day is more proof of CBS's indifference to the show.

Not that I expected anything less but I guess they're just going to handwave away the issue of how Shaw managed to cross the ocean. :p

Yeah Lionel, because you know those "uniforms" are sooo useful. Can't entirely blame ya though, but still if something happens I don't think you'll feel too good about it.

Uh oh...

Edit: Friend, nice.
