So I thought that when Warren Gunnels deleted his tweet he realised he had fucked up. But not so:

Fire Warren Gunnels. Now.
Warren Gunnels is scum. Anyone who defends him is scum. Anyone who thinks he has something to offer to their campaign is scum.

Well at least the response to that tweet aren't supportive at all for once...

Man what a scumbag.

I'd be really surprised if Weaver or Devine get work in politics again.

Pols have to know their involvement is the kiss of death at this point.

I doubt Weaver gives a shit about his political future.

Devine made a ton of money thanks to Sanders' donors, I don't think he cares that much either.

I forgot if I've already asked this, but has Bernard ever apologized or admitted fault to anything? He really strikes me as the kind of person to just hand-wave any perceived mistakes away and not discuss them further.

Nope not really. Even when he does get forced into a situation of condemning something connected to him, he does the token "But" maneuver where he says a single line about how unfortunate something is, then victim blames for 2 paragraphs about how they sorta brought it on themselves or something similar.

I have personally known people with those same damn traits IRL; and it has always rubbed me wrong.

Truvada would cost $300 with my co-pay for my insurance, but I get co-pay assistance through Gilead so I get it for free.

As far as "Big Pharma" goes, Gilead is a good company doing good work.
The Co-Pay plan from them is actively beneficial to many people because it lets them KO their deductible for free.

Gamers gonna game.

Wow... Keep attacking one of the most important people and heros of the LGBT community, I'm sure we're going to vote for you now.

I still think it's bizarre Devine got this job at all. Why would you hire someone who has managed three losing presidential campaigns already?!

Does this hurt Sanders in CA, generally speaking? He's getting torched on twitter over this.

SF and LA have some of the highest % of LGBT people in the country. So maybe, but he probably was going to lose CA anyway.

EDIT: lol Billmon is trying to tacitly smear Staley on Twitter. John Lewis! Barney Frank! Peter Staley!!

ITT: Sanders Campagin and policy staff attack a well known and HIV/AIDS organizations and a stalwart LGBT ally.

While some people here are trying to being in Hillary sniper story into this for what reason?

Blatant Deflection? As the Sander's Campaign and his surrogates have still continued to attack Staley? When they tried to get another LGBT stalwart of Barney Frank kicked out of his position at the convention?

Devine was 0-3 before Bernie hired him.

Somebody else will give him a shot (read: let him steal money from them), I 100% guarantee that.

What a shithead. Leave big pharma alone! Jerk.

Aren't you the one arguing in the other thread that the DNC should give concessions to Bernie? Certainly this HIV/AIDS group should just endorse him to appease him, right? Certainly he'd stop this throwing under the bus behavior then!

3 people who have accomplished more in their lives than Sanders could even dream of. To be quite honest I'm shocked he didn't throw Warren under the bus (although his hardcore supporters certainly did) after she didn't endorse. Just makes me repsect her that much more

I think this group should donate some money to big pharma.

Warren didn't speak out against him.

That's the biggest crime in Sanders land.

I see why this is a cluster fuck. But I don't see anything in the original (Sanders) press release that implied the group "endorsed" Bernie. Am I missing something?

I do have to congratulate them. They actually made me lose all respect for the man. Not that I ever thought he was some sort of perfect politician or anything, I saw both his strengths and weaknesses and determined he had more strong points. And in a lot of ways he is still right. But if this is how he is going to play the game, I see that at least I was wrong about what kind of a man he was.

Not really, the title and thread isn't the clearest.

What happened was activists and Bernie meet. This goes well.
One of the issues discussed was a California ballot initiative on HIV drug pricing (which Bernie has endorsed).
The Sanders campaign issues a press release which makes it sound as if the activists agreed with the endorsing of the ballot initiative (they don't as such).
Activists release their own statement clarifying their position and expressing disappointment with the Sanders campaign release.
The policy director for the Sanders campaign, and noted scum, Warren Gunnels goes apeshit and attacks Peter Staley with unsubstantiated smears.

tl;dr Warren Gunnels is scum.

Thanks, from thread title I thought Bernie said the group endorsed him when they hadn't. Makes more sense now. Everything after the open letter from the activist group I followed (and it's all gross).

Yeah, they're saying the Bernie release strongly implied an endorsement of the California ballot initiative, not the candidate. That's what they took issue with.

And that they were used for quick California PR.

The entire press release was about the ballot initiative, nothing else.

It's pathetic.

TBF, the title was space-constrained, but I definitely could've made the timeline more clear in the OP.

berzeli I'mma edit your post in there now

Oh, I don't blame you for the title one bit. I know how it can be.
And the timeline is a bit confusing even when you read up on it. Feel free to include my summary in the OP if you think it helps. :p

Hmm. It feels like this post is missing something... Oh, right:
Warren Gunnels is scum.

What an absolute dumpster fire Sanders' campaign has become.

Or at least, judging the history of the campaign and the history of Sanders himself, what an absolute dumpster fire Sanders' campaign has finally cast itself out to be.

Wondering if / when more people in the media will start putting the spotlight more on the true colors of Bernie and his supporters. And do so very loudly, to boot.

It's a crap shoot. The media wants a close neverending race.
If it gets coverage it will be "This side says, and this side says".

Warren Gunnels is pissing me off. Like REALLY pissing me off. Warren Gunnels has been a long time employee of Sanders, since 1999, so I doubt he'll be fired. Or if he is fired from the campaign I'm assuming Sanders will still likely employ him outside of the campaign.

Human rights activist demanding an apology from the Sanders campaign.

3SugvG1.png
As far as I remember, Bernie Sanders during this campaign has never apologized for ANYTHING. I think the nearest thing was the several days later response about Planed Parenthood, but I wouldn't classify that as an apology.

So don't hold your breath for that apology.

What still kills me:

This is a damn serious accusation. He's basically accusing these folks of using this cause for their own personal benefit - this is an accusation of a truly abhorrent behavior. And he isn't being asked to substantiate this serious charge. He offers no evidence.. instead, he just throws it out there.

This is probably one of, if not the, most disgusting things he's done. And I don't see how it's defensible.

File it away with one of his surrogates being a rapper named Killer Mike in the "Things Privileged Bernie Can Do But No One Else Can" folder.

The timeline for the PP thing is amazing.

It went like this iirc:

Day 1: Sanders makes stupid comment that PP is part of the establishment he is fighting against, he indirectly ties them in with Wall Street

Day 2 or 3: Even after being challenged by literally everyone, Sanders camp reiterates that PP is the establishment.

Day 3 or 4: Weaver goes on TV to reiterate the statement.

Day 5: Sanders goes on Maddow... and says no no no you misheard, what I meant was everyone who runs PP is part of the establishment, not the organization itself. No apology or even concession that he was wrong, just a reiteration disguised as a walk back.

Dirty fucking politics.

Lovely. Bless their hearts.

Another $20 going to Equitas Health.

Evreytime I get pissed with Bernie's campaign, instead of bitching about it, I'm giving money to someone. I can't donate any more to Hillary, so it's going to HIV/AIDS LGBT health organizations.

Ugh.

He gave a really weak and begrudging apology for the data breach during that debate.

His memo release when he dropped the lawsuit took that all back.

He basically claimed vindication and implied he was dropping the lawsuit as a favour to the DNC and that they should do more next time to make sure he doesn't steal again.

You might end up broke by the end of the convention

Better than blowing it on video games and alcohol, amirite?!

Just go broke in a primary state Clinton needs to win, she'll feed you McDs

She already fed me McDonalds when I helped disenfranchise 30,000 people in Ohio during the primary. I'd have gone for 50,000 but her check hadn't cleared yet...and, for some reason, she never responded to my emails....

To make this a bit clearer, the bill in question is being pushed by AHF, the largest non-profit in the HIV/AIDS rights and treatment scene. Here is an informative link about the policies they have held/hold that many in the community find unsavory. Here is another.
