Horizon Zero Dawn - Aloy's Journey Trailer, delayed to February 28th, 2017

A unique, beautiful world, badass female protagonist, interesting enemies, killer soundtrack, Witcher 3/Fallout NV writers--this is easily my most anticipated game at the moment, unless some really cool shit gets announced at E3. I've always thought Guerrilla Games' Killzone series to be quite terrible, but this game looks legitimately incredible.

That's got to be a cutscene right? There's no way gameplay could look like that.

Games looks really good! Looking forward to the eventual E3 demo.

Speculation:
She's totally going to be an artificial human, isn't she? I'd bet for the big mistery beign an A.I. military system tasked with creating life capable of sustaining the new planet ecosystem mirroring the natural evolution process and the protagonist is the pinncle of this process

Great graphics, cool design and cheesy writing and dialogue. I love the former and really, really hope they improve the latter. If the game is supposed to have some emotional weight and a story with some resonance then the VA and writing need to be improved quite a bit.

PSY were you the one talking about the robot dinosaurs somehow being a bad thing? Sorry I can't remember who said that and I'm on my phone.

Are we allowed to voice our concerns with the game or can we only gush about how awesome the robot dinosaur action is in this visceral, earth-shattering open-world title out February 28th, 2017 EXCLUSIVELY on the PlayStation 4

Knock yourself out. You can even passive-aggressively concern troll. What you can't do is demand that everyone agree with you or expect much empathy when wading into a thread about a specific game to complain that it isn't a different game.

I'm honestly not crazy to hear that the story centers around the Mystery of how the world got to be the way it is, but even so, this continues to look fucking rad.

If anything I'm actually glad a release date was announced. If they just said "delayed to 2017" I would be mad.

Hopefully it doesn't get the Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank, (((The Last Guardian , Mighty No. 9))) treatment.

the game is taking itself way too seriously and it's putting me off.

the poor VA makes it worse.

it's freakin' gorgeous though.

Considering just how many games we have gotten in recent times ( Ratchet & Clank, Doom, Batlleborn & Overwatch within the last few weeks) and how many we will be getting (Agents of Mayhem, Dead Rising 4) in the near future that don't take themselves anywhere near seriously, its okay that a game set in a ridiculous world is attempting to take itself a little more seriously is very welcome in my book.

Its okay if this isn't what you're looking for at the moment as far as your personal taste is concerned though. Sorry to hear the game's tone isn't resonating with you.

Not feeling the narrative. The world and character design remind me of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, which I wasn't a fan of. Still need to see more gameplay.

This is by far my most anticipated PS4 game. This is what I wanted from console gaming this generation and now all we have to do is wait.

Where? I've seen people who aren't as concerned as others, but no one handwaving anything away, hell most people who have voiced their concerns over the VA/writing have been getting agreed with.

Sony's inability to launch a game on time is becoming laughable.

I think you mean "Sony's ability to bankroll extensions to their devs when they need them is very welcome".

It's either that, or launch unfinished and unpolished products, there's really no in-between.

The only way to "not delay" a game is to not announce a public release date until you've delayed it 3 times internally and are really starting to see the end of it :D

Did you read my reply on the last page. What concerns are you speaking of?

That part looks 100% gameplay and not just in-engine to me; which is pretty damn amazing when you look at it. O_O

o_O

Would be insane if it was, but I'll believe it only when I see someone playing it. I'm definitely getting a Neo for this though. Looks incredible.

The bit in the open field with all the dino-bots walking around is so Jurassic Park, love it.

I hope they don't take it all too serious. I smell a far too heavy story arc.
Let's hunt robo-dinos and keep the narration at minimum. please.

quote them

.

It's hyperbole, the setup for this sounds more interesting then a lot of the AAA games out there, people are now just repeating it ad nauseam to go along with the vocal minority and because it's guerilla.

Honestly who cares? Give me a story the drives the gameplay. That's where this sort of game should shine anyway. IMO nothing about the dialogue is offensive or bad. I didn't really care or notice because the game looks good and the gameplay looks great.

I doubt many people are hung up on the dialogue.

The bolded is some seriously rediculous nitpicking. And what's wrong with the dialouge?

That said, the voice over needs a bit of work but it's not even close to bad.

My lord this is some ridiculous nitpicking and I thought I was used to it by now.

Yeah it is, it's gonna happen though it being a hyped exclusive, we know nothing of story and it's guerilla so it's an easy target for concerned trolling. Awesome box art.

This.

Yah, why can't every game have voice over work like Naughty Dog. Story is totally melted cheese. Hopefully, they delayed it so they can either remove it or get some competent voice over work. Even the writing is terrible.

For RPGs, the world and setting trump the core story for me. Many are formulaic. As long as everything is well presented and there are good options for dialogue, combat, and exploration I'll be satisfied.

I just think Horizon could be ripped apart if the narrative isn't strong enough in a post-Witcher 3 world, and considering the talent GG has hired. I hope I'm wrong but this trailer me feeling kinda funny about it.

Don't mind the delay, I was pretty much expecting it; plus it's just a couple months.

Looks really great, and I didn't think the dialogue was that bad. I'm very interested in the world they've created.

Gonna put this up on the tv when I get home tonight.

Witcher 3 is the exception. I'm not holding every game to that standard, especially in the first entry of a series when the studio hasn't made an RPG before.

After uncharted 4, im fairly sure those visuals can be pulled off by Guerilla on a mature 3 year old engine with that level of detail and clarity.

On the ps4. None of this neo nonsense

Grass draw is most def above PS4 level.

That's one thing I wish more devs focused around with huge open world games. Up that foliage game, yo!!! Good to see Guerrilla and Naughty Dog stepping it up! I just wish Japanese devs did this as well.
