No Truce With The Furies - 2016
no-truce-2church.jpg

http://devblog.fortressoccident.com/press-kit/

A story-driven isometric role playing game about being a total failure. An almost irreversible, unmitigated failure. Both as a human being and an officer of the law.
Find yourself in a strange and familiar new world, where you can go anywhere you want to. See that liquor store? You can go there. See that motor-carriage? You can drive it into the ocean. See that phone booth? You can call her, and make her love you again!
A world of Bauhaus and Dada, neo-grotesk fonts and transistors, communists and fascists and boring old democracies. Off the coast you can occasionally spot airbound coalition warships keeping the peace. They are kept afloat with magnetic levitation. Further beyond the horizon there is the Pale that divides the continents.

Ooh that'd fit in perfectly with that abstract/minimalist/stylized thread you made the other day

You get a chance to check out Wasted yet?

Have you guys played Expand? It's been on wishlist for a while, ever since I read the article Kotaku did about the developers. Finally picked it up today, and it's pretty stylish

Some quotes from articles

EnormousEsteemedHadrosaurus.gif

I bought it right after that article came out. I've only put about twenty minutes into it but what I played I really enjoyed for something fairly simple. The minimalist style and music together went well together and I never felt bored during my brief time going through one section of it.

If anything the only reason I haven't returned is because, like most, I own too many games and I simply forget about going back to play more of it. I do think it's worth the asking price and more people should give it a shot.

Edit: Decided to go back and beat it. Took me 90 minutes in total. It does a good job making me hold my breath through segments fairly frequently. And the game really wouldn't be nearly as good if it wasn't for the music. The whole ending sequence feels great because of how it ties it together with the music.

New Klei game:

Oxygen Not Included is a space-colony simulation game. Manage your colonists and help them dig, build and maintain a subterranean asteroid base.

You'll need water, warmth, food, and oxygen to keep them alive, and even more than that to keep them happy.

Yes, exactly what I wanted. An new original sci-fi survival game from Klei

Fallout Shelter of my dream

I have no idea why We Happy Few was out of my radar, the main idea behind the game sounds very interesting but I dunno how I feel about it being a survival game.

It's ironic that the best things this E3 so far has been the indie games. Inside release date, Fe, Grow Up, Oxygen Not Included. The AAA showings have been very lackluster this year IMO

I have a vested interest in Sony's though, because I'm finally getting a PS4 this week

Inside hype from the release date thread

From Thomas Mahler (co-founder of Moon Studios, and creative director of Ori)
Everyone I know who played it told me it's a total masterpiece.

I'm rooting for these guys - was a little disappointed that they didn't show more, but then again, it's releasing very soon :)
It's just one of those games that you hear people swoon over without voicing any criticism at all, so I'm more than intrigued.

Playtested this to completion (well, as much was there, can't go into more detail but it was pretty complete) last year in Copenhagen. Totally fucking wonderful. Can't wait to play the finished product; frankly it seemed so polished then that I'm surprised it's taken this long to finish. Must mean good things though!

Looks quite interesting, it looks like it has a retro sci-fi style theme which isn't something that i've seen much.

I really enjoy colony/settlement management games, are there many currently in development? I know there's Rimworld and Maia and a few that have been released like the Spatials, but is there much else? The only other ones i can think of right away are sugarmill, that water colony game i can't remember the name of, and another post-apocalyptic one i forgot the name of.

Thinking about it, it would be great if there was a way to have the games in this thread organized into genres, although i know that would probably be quite a bit of work.

Ah yeah i forgot about that, that's definitely something I'll get at some point. It reminds me of Space Colony a bit with it's different rooms/domes.

Something i'd really love to see is a game along the lines of a spiritual successor to Startopia, but i doubt something like that will happen any time soon.

What's the name of that in-development water/ocean themed colony management game again?

Inside and Abzu are going to make this one of the best summers in a long time

And SuperHOT VR looks sick. Dual wielding makes me want VR

7pAzsWK.gif

I've been playing Tick Tock Bang Bang and it's surprisingly fun. At first I thought it would be just cynical SUPERHOT clone, but it actually has it's own idenfitity. It's still a rip-off, but a good one, where the known mechanics are used in quite different types of scenarios, so it doesn't feel like a rethread.

It lacks the polish and beauty of Superhot, but it's very very fun. If somebody finished Superhot and is still hungry for more, Tick Tock Bang Bang is very good choice.

Finally realized why I'm loving the art style of AiK. The color palette and organic decayed look makes me think of the horrific artwork in the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark books

Oh boy. I loved those books as a kid.

It looks like Severed (Drinkbox) is coming to iOS/Wii U/3DS. Hopefully PC happens at some point.

Wow, I have no idea what just happened to Ghost 1.0... Towards the end, you just walk into a normal room, suspecting nothing, cutscene plays and then suddenly you're a different character on a different mission in this horrendous trial and error section that's waaaay too long, has too many pasted rooms with repeated tasks, horrendously placed save points that force you to replay tedious bits over and over and over...

I would still recommend the game and the rest of it has been pretty great, but I'm awestruck by just how utterly terrible this section was in comparison to how good everything else is.
