play them on Hard and come back with opinions about mashing.

To be honest difficulty doesn't really do much besides giving enemy more HP and great attack power, they are still very passive.

[Mashing buttons carefully intensifies]

You obviously aren't a fan of action games, mate. Look at all these terrible FPS games, I just use one button to shoot! Such horrible button mashing.

This is why that teaser is fucking stupid, it misrepresents the series and takes out of context and makes light of a VERY serious and pivotal moment in the series.

I don't think it's "making light" of it, but it's not very informative of what the actual game will be like.

This was meant as a gritty teaser specifically for Berserk fans, an actual gameplay video will capture the wider audience.

You can't be comparing a Musou Gameplay with games like Bayonetta. I love Bayo2 and I couldn't finish the last One Piece Musou because I got tired of doing exactly the same again and again and again. Don't pack everybody on the "lol fps" genre.

Well it could get us another berserk games, since it's quite similar to dark souls in tone and atmosphere. It's been a long time since the ps2 game.

And how many buttons does Bayonetta use? I only played the first one and I remember dodge, attack and strong attack, 3 buttons, just like musou or any other action game.

If you don't know the significance of that, you're not going to understand the hype.

Getting hyped over a warped depiction of that particular moment as the sole glimpse of a video game adaptation doesn't reflect well on the fandom...or gamers in general, for that matter.

It's been 12 years since the last Berserk video game. 17 years since the Dreamcast game which was localized.

I wrote my thoughts on the trailer previously, but you're nuts if you think Berserk fans are going to forget about the whole game because of this.

Well that was a terrible teaser. What the fuck? Who thought that was a good idea to use as a Teaser. Just have some panning shots of the Dragon Slayer or something.

It's not "how many buttons", it's "how does it plays". In Bayo (or dmc wannabees) you have to pay attention, use combos, use dodges with perfect timings and swap your weapons based on the situation. Also there are a lot of diferent enemies, each one with it's own weakness and strategy to beat and the enemies used to be very agressive.

While in the latests musou games it's just "press buttons, kill things". No strategy, no perfect timings, only a bunch of brain dead enemies that just stare at you while you are pressing the same combo again and again.

They are not even similar in gameplay.

If they wanted to show the eclipse, they should have just shown silhouettes of what's sorta happening (but you don't actually see anything) and closing the teaser on guts right eye being pierced. Or just show the behelit, dragonslyer... there are many other stuff that would be more fitting.

Wouldn't that be considered spoiler? There's a new Berserk anime that will start this year.

I'll take this though my dream Berserk game is a character action RPG with you playing as Guts. The gameplay is a mixture of Godhand build your combos and blade mode precise cutting action from Metal Gear Rising on top of a large RPG game with stats, partners and party members that you don't directly control in battle, story choices, etc. Also some crazy graphics and a procedural gore system that makes Left 4 Dead 2 look like the original Doom.

If you had to tease a Berserk game...wouldn't you choose the MOST memorable scene of the whole manga?

latest

I probably would have gone with Griffiths holding the Behelit or with the Dragon Slayer and the whole "too big" malarkey

I listened to forces at first and found god hand mix later, so I like it more than the original because I was used to that.
Kaji Wo Tore sounds good but doesn't quite fit to berserk, it sounds too happy, almost like soft version of berserk.

ps. outside of the ones mentioned I really like "Murder" and "Guts" theme.

Murder is really good but my favourite of the entire album has to be Earth:

Trying to determine these are shitposts.

Are you familiar with the subject matter or not?

It doesn't seem like you have any interest here other than to prop up and yell at scarecrows and it feels you don't know or care about the source material.

For example.

No one is a fan of the eclipse because get hyped over rape and murder. It is notorious and pivotal moment that had an entire arc devoted to setting one scene up that was the impetus for the entire series. Multiple main characters had no finite purpose until this one scene happened.

During this scene one character had to sacrifice all they held dear to achieve goals that they spent years trying to accomplish, part of which having to do with selling their body and their dignity to fund their cause which already wore heavily on them. They were robbed at the last second when they were caught, tortured, and mutilated by a king who was in love with his own daughter - character that should have been his wife. His tongue was cut off and his body cut and torn to shreds and he was only kept alive just enough to continue being tortured. Which he was for a year.

The sacrifice he made was to get his body back and it involved giving up all that he hold closest to his heart and in this case it was two things - the lives of his army and the trust of the two people he cared about the most. One character he met as he interrupted the assaulted by the slaver who just bought them from their parents and another, that character's then lover, the only person other person he confided in, was a promising warrior with demons of their own. He raped her to break both while killing everyone else he cared about as part of his sacrifice to be reborn a god-like demon, this fact being the backdrop to the entire series as it shapes the motivations for the key characters.

Griffith wanted to become king but became a demon in the process.

Caska is broken and their goal is to presumably to become whole again as they struggle to survive the curse brought on by the brand of sacrifice.

Gutts wants revenge against Griffith and to mend Caska's broken mind as he violently fights off the implications of the curse itself.

Berserk is this story. Obviously there is more to it but the eclipse is what turned Gutts from a aimless mercenary with a troubled past to the fate-defying black swordsman that serves as the main character. And hey, how he was saved was ridiculously cool.

Fans of this aren't fans because they loooooove rape and should someone be hyped by the trailer (I am not by the way) it isn't because they loooooove rape either. They would be hyped because it represents an iconic, an INFAMOUS moment in a story they like.

The way you keep characterizing this scene it seems you know nothing about and fans of this 25 year old ongoing story is incredibly obnoxious. This is the story that inspired the entire Soulsborne series. Give it a little more credit than that.

For the love of crap, I am not talking about the scene itself in the context of the series. I am talking about the teaser and how badly it chose to show/tease said scene, which (shockingly) rubbed several people in this thread the wrong way.

Using a fragment of that scene out of context for the teaser feels like a creepy attempt at titillation.

They could've chosen almost anything for a twenty second teaser they went with that.

I'm not sure the point of defending the scene within the context of the manga because that's not what the problem is. This is like, 1min or whatever video that's entire purpose is to be "oh shit we're making a berserk game!!" And using the scene they chose for that is really gross.

Yes they certainly couldnt be hyped about the game, nope, they're hyped about rape. For a series you admitted that you have avoided and know nothing about you sure seem invested in ranting about this trailer and the animals who liked it (purely because of its allusion to rape, lest we forget)

La Blue Girl creator post continues to sum up over people freaking out over make believe characters.

American journalists have come to me and told me that my hentai scenes will corrupt American youth. Yet, you still have very little gun control in America, and kids have access to this all the time. You see in Japan, nothing happens, you can walk on the street in the middle of the night with a skimpy T-shirt or a mini-skirt on and nothing happens, but, in American, seems like you really care about the human rights of the anime and manga world. You don’t give a shit about real human rights, but you will do all you can to judge or put down Japanese culture.

I totally get where some are coming from with the focus of the teaser. Anyone not familiar with the material is probably going to get the wrong idea about what Berserk and the game are about when its basically a tentacle rape shot. Anyone who has read the manga and understands what its all about know's that not the focus or idea behind Berserk but again, newcomers won't know that and might get the wrong impression.

Steve Jackson's Fighting Fantasy book series inspired Soulsborne; Berserk is a lot of the inspiration for the visual design and there are a large number of visual/character design references, but the story of Berserk has almost nothing to do with the story of any Souls game.

Teasers are meant to be attention-grabbing, this was a weird choice but now fans know they're apparently not afraid to "go there" and people who somehow aren't acquainted with Berserk are wondering wtf and their lizard brain is on high alert.

I would assume a lot of people picked up Berserk initially because of the "adult themes". A teaser doing the same boring old Dragonslayer pan-around would be identical to the new anime's first teaser and "guy with big sword" also undersells Berserk.

Berserk is a psychological horror fantasy at its core, now that they've got your attention (for better or worse), the gameplay videos and screenshots that will arrive by/on June 23 will hopefully sell people on the game itself.

Or, we could recognize media depictions and how it reflects upon society and how people view certain subjects as part of said societal/human rights issues and think about what we can do to help make things better and promote more positive forms of progress.

...but sure, spin that "Japan is pure as snow, their poor video games getting kicked around by evil foreigners" story all you want, GAF.

Berserk game being a musou style game is nightmare tier news to me. Fucking fuckety fuck.

This so much :/

I got so excited for the One Piece game until I saw it was musou. I even gave it a chance, it sucked. Nothing fun about spamming moves at dumb AI on mostly flat level design. That's another thing wrong with these games, they always take place on flat boring levels.

a devil may cry game one would have been more fun.
Shit even a soul caliber fighter would have been better :/

The rebuke by asking for progress on the rights of actual human life will still be very popular i would think. Arguments about this sort of stuff aren't going to be won with a side-conversation in a video game thread but one can try although that's better suited for a different thread all together.

I don't have faith that this game is going to be superior to the PS2 title. That game was amazing and really captured Guts fighting style in the animations and how he took on multiple enemies.

Would much, much rather a Berserk Action-RPG like The Witcher 3.

Don't care for musou games.

Well, one can be made for X money.
The other requires XXXXX money to be made.

I doubt Omega even has the resources to invest the latter on a single project.

I just saw Easy Allies Bethesda Conference Reaction and they showed the berserk trailer while waiting for the conference to start. It's funny how they got caught off guard "We didn't vet this."

https://youtu.be/0XOEcNqR00E?t=53m18s

The developer would make it seem like this will at least be a mature rated game, don't think the sort of stuff that happens in Berserk can even be implied in a video game. They shouldn't test their luck on that.

It didn't stop airing there, that is where the cycle ended. The Berserk anime is one of those cycling ones, where the first episodes follows the last. There was no way it could continue with the way the story was altered without deviating massively from the manga.

Not many games are deeper than that. Dark Souls you just have dodge, block, light and heavy buttons, just like in Musou. God of War is the same thing, Revengeance is the same thing and yet none of these games are criticised for their basic systems.

A few episodes? This is happening at the very end of the anime.

Ah ok, lol, what a bad way to end an anime though.

I love musou games, and honestly, the collaborations are some of my favorites. I'm definitely going to pick this up when it comes out.

I'm really intrigued by the simultaneous western and Japanese announcement though. Berserk is popular here in the west, sure, but it's not a uniquely western franchise by any means.

Waltzing in here trying to throw shade on the fanbase isn't the way to address human rights issues.
