I have to disagree, yes the music is good, yes the japanese logo looks great, the gameplay looks like a mix of far cry and some good shadow of the colossus, but the game is not doing it for me, I wish that wasn't the case.

love that magnet stuff
love the presentation, too, it's cool to have a girl round doing all that experimentation with the gameplay

I honestly don't get the "this looks barren" impressions. I mean, what do you expect? Mini bosses and chests at every corner? Nothing would be satisfying if the map were cluttered, and I don't want it to be so stuffed with content that it feels intimidating like The Witcher 3 felt to me.

Alright, so this is the first Zelda game I actually want to play. I really liked what I saw in the trailer, for the most part. The music, in particular, is just incredible. I need a copy of the soundtrack, stat. I like the cel-shaded look as well. The big negative for me is the animation. It just doesn't look good.

Edit: I also really like the subtitle.

So the seal on the Rusted Master Sword is weakening since the flood waters of Old Hyrule have receded. allowing the Spirit of Demise/Ganon to escape?

Well... looks kinda disappointing, but let's see how it plays in the end. On the good side there is no female Link, on the bad side there is the Skyward Sword Director. Hmm.

You should have seen the gameplay.
That was way more interesting than the lackluster trailer imo.
They are doing a lot right this time.

So it takes place after Wind Waker but Ganon's back? This will be an interesting tale.

hmm... it's possible Koroks somehow come into existence in another timeline, or this is before the world floods in TWW but after OOT. But yeah, simplest explanation is probably a story after TWW/ST, and that the world has become unflooded. As another poster said it sort of has a previously flooded basin feel to it.

Watching this game almost makes me terrified of what Nintendo could accomplish on much more powerful hardware. The game is gorgeous, they're clearly pushing the Wii U to its limits.

Almost forgot about dungeons with all these overworld goodness. Gonna be epic, even that minidungeon was atmospheric as fuck.

Loving the magnet power up effect and sound.

Yeah I'm basing this purely off Koroks, could be wrong.

Been watching for a bit, some of this is pretty cool to see in a Zelda game. The combat seems like a throwback to Wind Waker with picking up enemy weapons and whatnot, but hopefully a bit more advanced. Using a heavy axe to hit shields from enemy hands is cool. I'm not expecting a deep combat system in a Zelda game, but if they make it fun and make you use different equipment that's a good start. It's also cool to see a nice variety of traversal mechanics, I loved that Link felt very agile in Skyward Sword and this seemingly adds a lot to it.

I'm also not a fan of open worlds (and I don't know a lot about the current state of the art of it, I should play Witcher 3 sometime) but I'm interested in seeing how they tie it into the game. It seems cool on its own with these ancient remains strewn around.

Other things seem a bit off. I know it's a demo of a game releasing in 9 months but it's surprisingly unpolished for a Zelda game. The interface for equipment and pickups give me early access vibes which sticks out as a sore thumb for a Nintendo game. It's not helped by these tiny pickups being everywhere. I don't really feel this constant picking up of things, it seems like your vacuuming the world for stuff. Again, I know they haven't shown what to do with these pickups yet, but eh. This ties into that I think the interface looks bad, but it just seems to be a lot of clutter and even worse, inventory management. When Chico (?) was trying to pick up a skeleton arm to fight with and first had to enter another screen to throw away some other worthless weapon I couldn't believe how boring that looked.

These bad things aside I'm very excited to see how the full game turns out. Just now on the stream they showed that you could use an enemy boss's attack to break a wall and enter a hidden shrine, that's cool as all hell. If the game has a lot of that it could turn out into something great. I can overlook jank if they give us some good dungeons and ways to access them.

You can supplement your basic permanent hearts with temporary extra heart containers by consuming foods.

As you progress, the Shrines will become much mode complex and difficult.

I'm so disappointed in Aonuma, I can't even think straight. His reasoning for the lack of a female Link is so backward, just like half of GAF was.

How is it "more simple" to go with Zelda instead? Seems more complicated. Just make a new fucking model you can select and call her "Link."

Aonuma argh

Over the moon thrilled with the rest of the game though. And I guess if it really is the resurrected hero of something or other, the male gender makes sense.

But why make him so damn androgynous? Is it just the art style?

Ughhhhh. And yay. Also ugghhhhh. Yay. Ugh.
