Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

Says it all really. I'm not saying it won't be a "good game" but all the hyperbolic praise here seems to come from a microcosm in which the last generation of gaming never happened.

Glad you've managed to find a way to paint us all into a corner. I game on PC. I've played The Witcher 3, I've played GTA V and MGSV and pretty much every other major milestone in gaming that isn't Xbox Exclusive. at 60fps, 1080p+. I've had the top tier experiences you could possibly have with those games and I'm still super impressed by what I'm seeing here... Damn shame I don't fit your shitty little narrative, eh?

Watching the Tree house live videos on youtube, WOW its so much stuff you can do in this game

Even the enemy's show a number to see who will be harder to beat

Bombs can be square or circle and can be detonated like C4 lol

The weather and lighting is amazing

Dont just watch the trailer and judge the game, watch the gameplay videos

I never truly liked the premise of the 3D Zeldas, so I'm really happy with how this game looks.

Kind of amazing they made something like this when I'm assuming the majority of fans grew up with OoT equating to Zelda. I feel lucky Nintendo does things like this.

Nothing about this game is winning E3 2008 let alone E3 2016.

We're in a post-Souls post-Witcher world, this looks and feels incredibly dated and unimpressive.

I know some of you will take whatever Zelda fix you can get but be objective and look at this game. Do you really think this is going to win back lost fans and make Nintendo relevant to kids and teens again? Because I would be very worried right now if that's your goal.

I don't give 2 shits if this game wins back kids and teens or not. I think the game looks awesome and, as long as I have a copy in my hands on launch day, I couldn't care less if anyone else does or not.

I'm glad that one enemy did up to 3 hearts of damage in one hit. When we saw the bokoblin do a quarter heart damage I was pretty annoyed.

Quarter-heart damage shouldn't exist.

Fair enough if this is good enough for you but don't be surprised if it falls completely flat with all those gamers Nintendo are hoping to win back.

Dude. Are you even reading what you're writing? You think people here haven't played current gen games? I love Soul/Borne, doesn't stop me from loving the much graphically inferior Monster Hunter series even if they both procure me the same kind of fun. I love the Witcher 3, and this game still appeals to me immensely.

You're right. I just took them off and all of a sudden all this awesome shit I'm seeing is borderline Superman 64

There needs to be some kind of reverse of Rose Tinted Glasses. I propose shit-smeared glasses.

It's such a stupid argument, I come to Zelda, Souls and Witcher for entirely different reasons.

IGN and Co seem to like the new Zelda and they clearly know that last Gen happens. Deal with it, it looks like a fucking good open world game with a lot to do and interacting. And the world is not just a flat surface with some mountains you can not climb on to make the world look bigger. ;)

Sorry to say that but you are trolling hard here and it doesn't work, the people love the new Zelda (for now...it will change like always when a Zelda is released)

This game looks surprisingly amazing. At first glance it doesn't feel like a Zelda game but after a while, it is very Zelda. Exploration looks great and gives a nice feel of actual adventure. I'm just shocked that it's looking this beautiful on the WiiU, can't wait to see what the NX version will look like.
And oh...I love the sub title to the game.

pfft, this could be a Ride to Hell sequel and it'd still be my game of the show on the merit of its mechanics, which somehow don't appear quite as dated to me as they do to you, and yet I'm pretty fuckin' critical of Zelda games for exactly that reason...

I'm truly at a loss as to how anyone could see what I'm seeing right now and consider it dated.

I agree, this looks really sandboxy in all the right ways. Still some rigid looking puzzles with obvious solutions but at the same time there is all this new stuff with the physics and traversal that opens things up.

I feel like getting to a lot of areas is going to require creativity and that's exactly what I want.

SHIT. I forgot that this was playable at the nintendo world store.

anyone play?

It's not impossible that we are not seeing enough of the game.

Right now this is like showing off metal gear solid 5 but staying away from all the bases and soldiers I guess.

If the meat of the game is more engaging then that will be good but after experiencing from soft level design and combat and dungeons there is a new high bar to meet.

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to troll, I genuinely think you guys are wearing rose tinted glasses and if you take them off you'll be very worried at what you see is the fruit of so many years labour at Nintendo...
You're one of the only ones in this thread who isn't enjoying it. it's you, not us.

The idea of Hyrule being in ruins, Link being unceremoniously thrown into action, having to survive on his own, a lot of the important landmarks of the world being abandoned and the Master Sword being all rusty; I enjoy the theory a friend of mine told me about that we could be playing as a Link who wasn't reincarnated when they needed him. Seems like a similar idea that The Wind Waker played with but with a much more desolate and immediate angle.

This game seems to be expanding on the concepts of your "favorite games" with a grander adventure and true world traversal, yet you are the one spouting bullshit about how it is not doing anything to move forward. People know you are full of shit too when you say things like "If this wasn't called Zelda nobody here would be paying it any attention even if it was revealed 6 years ago" Get out of here with that bullcrap.

Don't even respond to him. Look at his post history...posts in exclusively non-Nintendo threads and in the Nintendo threads is constantly trolling Zelda.

This one only watched the trailer.

post-Witcher world, lmao. You literally don't know about the game you're talking about if you think this game warrants comparison to The Witcher 3. Like comparing Far Cry to MGSV. And yeah, in this analogy, Witcher is Far Cry, and this game is MGSV. take that how you will.

You can totally compare the map to games like Witcher.
It's open world forests and cliffs, not that hard.

That aspect of this game absolutely looks dated, and that's because it is, since it's running on very dated hardware (the wiiu's).
Hell, at times it even looks more sparse than Dragon's Dogma, and that's saying something.

Not hard to imagine why some of us think it doesn't look that hot.

Did you SEE some of those vistas and how low the LOD was in some distances? I 100% think those aspects sometimes evoke that quality. That's not remotely to say the GAME LOOKS like a Gamecube game.
For me the game looks great, thank god I don't care about useless things, sorry if you do, but objectively the game doesn't look BAD

damn the game looks so dated, and honestly the graphics look kinda of ugly, huge downgrade from the original trailer. combat looks so dated and boring as well.

Yeah, the reveal was probably the NX version because that looked much better, even the 2015 trailer looked like a downgrade too me.

I'm specifically talking about the gameplay. Of course a Wii U game is going to look dated next to the Jesus Christ of current-gen WRPGs. Even then, while the graphics here certainly aren't the most impressive I've ever seen, they're more than serviceable as far as I'm concerned, and there were some really amazing looking moments throughout the stream.

I don't think it looks great visually (I did find it impressive when initially unveiled) but I'll probably pick it up as a send off for my Wii U.

The very first footage was clearly captured from dev PCs lol.
He'd be really happy about all the hyperbolic reception.

He probably could have explained how the game is appealing to children and teens too. For real though, I bet he'd be stoked about the reception Zelda is getting, though I'm sure he knew they had a winner on their hands.

It's hilarious because Nintendo/PC is a super common combo. Most people I know who have Nintendo systems also game on PC.

Same here...seems he make a confusion somewhere...maybe he think nintendo intend in some way to win people loving linear story driven game ?

Burning Justice

Even if there are only four main dungeons, if some of the shrines are as long as that last one I'm not worried about the amount of content at all.

Really excited for this game. Can't wait to play it!

I'd be absolutely all over this game even if it wasn't called Zelda. Go troll somewhere else.

How could you possibly look forward to 100+ handcrafted mini puzzle dungeons, an entire world to explore, combat that already looks better than Witcher 3's all wrapped up in a beautful artstyle.

Because Dark Souls exists or something and I really like talking down to people and screaming my ignorance from the rooftops.

No can't you see, he lives in a fantasy where his fellow purple lunchbox carrying trove of purist Nintendo fans before they betrayed them with motion controls will somehow not be impressed with this game and thus will not resonate with their kids or brothers who grew up on more mature grimdark adventures like Souls and Witchers.
