:l. A bit surprised this didn't pop up earlier honestly.......

Edit: Last time I will post in this specific thread and will just say I am excited to see what Rare announces. Hope the games look great and that people are happy when they are finally announced. Tired of the toxic attitude toward platforms on NeoGaf though and I personally hope people on here enjoy the genre more in the future.

One thing worth pointing out is that Banjo-Kazooie's composer, Grant Kirkhope, has been teasing a secret project he's been working on over on his Twitter account.

It might not be exactly related to Rare's projects but it still might be something to consider.

Banjo...it's finally coming. I think I will really shed a tear if he's coming back.

A games developer is working on new games... Shocking!

Probably been addressed many times, but Rare has been relegated to making non-interesting games for a long time, but we finally have something that hearkens back to the heyday of the developer (Sea of Thieves).

People are excited to know if they are making more titles like that.

Absolutely believe it. I would imagine at least one will be a Scorpio launch game.

I'd imagine that Microsoft has a lot of unannounced stuff that is going to coincide with the release window of Scorpio. We don't know much about their lineup Fall 2017 and beyond, which is likely due to the fact that they're closely aligned with Scorpio and would probably like to properly unveil the console before showing games that directly take advantage of it.

Well state of decay 2 and crackdown 3 look like they would probably be fall 2017 games. Then add the next forza game and maybe 1 other big flagship title

You know what would be fucking awesome? A new Coker's Bad Fur Day! We have a successor to Banjo in the works from another developer (Yooka-Laylee), but I don't know of another adult themed platformer that has filled Coker's void.

Hope this to be true, Sea of Thieves is looking like a hit game, seems like there's some passion being injected back at Rare. Hoping for Perfect Dark Scorpio edition. And a new Banjo.

Crash isn't garbage but I will quote Next Generation Magazine circa 1996 from my memory of they 3/5 review:
It was garbage. I knew this as kid playing it, and as an adult looking back. Horrid character design to boot. But then people desperately try to make Knack look somewhat competent and that just gets embarrassing.

Battletoads is trash, people. The IP is garbage. Conker was incredibly overrated as well.

Banjo is where it is at. The market is still there for a huge, lush 3D platformer. I'd take a Kameo as well, but we'll see.

This! I actually think early 360 Rare was the best Rare, with exception to Banjo (although nuts and bolts was fantastic - people who think otherwise are crazy). New IPs please or a new banjo/viva pinata game. There's nothing special about battletoads or perfect dark that warrants trying to bring them back, they've all been surpassed decades ago - and we've seen what happens when Rare tries to change up/improve upon an old formula, they're greeted with backlash. A New IP unshackles them from people's nostalgia

Conker was a product of its time and asking for a sequel is fucking nonsensical

Yeah, a sequel for Conker wouldn't really make sense either.
I suppose they could make it work somehow but the game had a pretty solid closure.

A a remaster of the original Xbox version would be cool though. I think a second remake would be kind of overdoing it as the game already received a remake.

I doubt Crackdown 3 is Fall 2017. It was originally slated as a 2016 title, and we're supposed to receive information about the beta sooner rather than later. Crackdown released in February and Crackdown 2 released early July. We'll probably see a similar release for Crackdown 3. State of Decay 2 is certainly a possibility, and Forza is a given. Forza is probably the only title you've mentioned that can be positioned as a 'showcase' for the Scorpio's heightened technical capabilities.

I would say Halo 6 is a given, but I don't think it's coming out until 2018 - unless they set a new Halo precedence for announcing and releasing a mainline Halo title within the same year. Unless they bring back the X0 events in September/October. We'll probably have a better idea after Gamescom, when we see if they're going to be having a conference or not.

Has Rare made a bad game yet

Like they made mediocre stuff sure but no 'bad' games yet in their entire history

Like I wouldn't even call Battletoads 'bad'

I wouldn't call anything since they left Nintendo very good either. Besides Kameo that is.

You're overrated.

In regards to Perfect Dark, there certainly was something special about it. For my money, the loose yet snappy feel to the shooting and the objective-based gameplay with levels you get to explore more on harder difficulties still have yet to be surpassed by any other FPS. Also, when Rare gets backlash for changing up an old formula, it's usually because they try to fix what wasn't broken.

Conker was a product of its time and asking for a sequel is fucking nonsensical

People like to say this, but what exactly about Conker wouldn't work today? If anything, it would have more gaming trends/movies to parody and even more ways to be over-the-top and offensive.

I loved the Conker remake's multiplayer. I feel like something similar would do well in today's game climate considering the popularity of hero shooters. A Shadowrun (360) sequel would be awesome too, although after Phil Spencer's comments in the Giant Bomb interview for last week... that's probably never going to happen. That game was so ahead of its time.

I bet one of them is Battletoads. Maybe the other one is a new IP?
Please be Banjo Threeie or Conker 2.

Also, I strongly disagree with the people that say Rare should be a new IP factory. They should work on both new and old IPs. Quit constantly outsourcing their IPs to other developers. Let them work on them themselves.

Two new games in addition to Sea of Thieves? Holy shit. I do hope they don't rust SoT though. According to Angry Joe the game felt very early and there were no guns or any other weapons yet. Rare said the same, yet it's coming February 2017?

The demo at E3 focused solely on the ship combat. There are weapons and other mechanics that they took out to simplify it more than the actual game.

Bro don't do this to me.

Every year E3 fails me and I turn my hopes to Gamescom, just to be disappointed again.

But screw it, let's do it again!

I used to be like you. 2015 was THE year I was absolutely sure it would happen. I was so disappointed that I had to set the bar incredibly low for this year. And in doing so, I was finally free. I was happy. I was in peace. I'll do the same for Gamescom.

Join me, brother. Spread the skepticism and help me save more souls. This world needs to be cleansed of futile hopes and dreams.

Mattrick era Rare consisted of Kinect Sports #1 and lucky us we were blessed with Kinect Sports #2, this went on since 2009-2014 so its cool if they've been allowed to work on several new projects along with SoT again

I guess they want to make the logo revival mean something again

not in my video games they aint!

Mattrick era Rare also consisted of Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Don't forget about that. :p

Conker was a product of its time and asking for a sequel is fucking nonsensical

They could easily make a Conker game work today if they actually tried. There's no reason to think otherwise.
