Tekken 7 May Get PS4/X1/PC Cross-Platform Play

I haven't come across a single cheater yet in my 150 hours online with SFV. Same with my 213 hours on SFIV. As a matter of fact I haven't encountered a single cheater in a fighting game ever on PC.

I've encounter farmer on SFV from the playstation community who just stand there with an auto light kick attack. I'm sure they do the same on PC, but there are more PS players online.

Regarding frame delay on inputs, it'd be like calling a wired arcade stick user a cheater compared to you using a wireless bluetooth controller.
As for bots, I didnt heard of it, then again the point remains, it's not something widespread and hardly qualify as the kind of cheat that lets you hopeless for a chance to win. Granted you meet one online.

I feel like a lot of people gladly abandon to the cheat argument because of frustration to lose.

I wouldn't say it's the same as controller if the option to turn it on/off was in the game by default, but it's not something nowhere near game-breaking or anything.

Regarding bots:

Since PC is a more open platform, cheating a bigger risk that it is on consoles. Regardless of that and as you said, the number of people using that and affected by that should be minimal and the positives of crossplay between all platforms are much bigger than the possible negatives.

I've been waiting for this all my life.

I've been waiting for a very long time.

All thats left is to let me know who to blame for when it doesn't go through.

Because I can't be bothered to deal with cheats. They can take how many counter measures they can, but usually the cheats end up winning.

Don't want to deal with that on consoles.
And because of this PC players should be left out of the community?

I have never seen a cheater in a fighting game on PC (not saying it cannot happen). With fighting games you would think that it would cause desync if someone's client was altered in that way.

The only thing I encounter with SFV on PC are rage quitters and stupid fucking farmers. But that's from both platforms. Mainly PS due to the larger player base.

For you.

Unless Namco doens't bother to support the game at all, you will barely ever see one cheater in hundreds of hours of game. Cheater fear is the most overblown thing ever. Also, they can easily offer a option to disable crossplay if you're worried about that.

I could see if we were talking about Counter Strike or a game like that to be worried about rampant cheating but a game like Tekken? Naw there might be a cheater every once in a while but its not as rampant as people make this out to be. It would be some straight up bullshit if PC players get left out because a small minority of players are cheaters.

Yeah, this one option pretty much quashes any concerns over PC cheats. If things degenerate beyond control, PC players will just be left to their own private hell.

That would be pretty damn sick. With Street Fighter V already doing PS4/PC cross-play, this is the next logical step. But if this goes through, hopefully Nintendo allows cross-play if an NX port of Tekken 7 happens.

I think it is cool that these boundaries are being broken more and more. We can all just come together and enjoy a game together, no matter what you play on.

There are bots which is a form of cheating and turning off v-sync on PC also gives some advantage in regards to frame delay on inputs. Haven't heard any other cheats at least.
Most people on console are probably playing on TVs with 3-4 frames of lag. Is someone who uses a monitor with 0-1 frames cheating as well?

Xplay Tekken on pc.

I'm so excited, hopefully it will work out.

By the way fighting games don't really have a cheating problem on pc or other platform.
Worst that could happen are players using makros but as far as it seems they do it on PS4 too (like toolassisted, but he's a another story).
A punishing system for ragequitters, quick matchmaking which matches you with players with similar skill and ping/connection and good content on launch would be amazing.

If Tekken fulfils those things it could be as big as never before.

Uniting the community is the only choice for fighting to maintain a healthy playerbase for all skill levels and regions.

Also, what's going on with full xplay?
Who's to blame that Rocket League still didn't enable it?

A Rocket League dev here on gaf in the Xbox one xplay pc thread

There is no additional work required to enable full cross play. It's a policy thing at this point. The build we're patching in today has all the tech required for any platform to play with any other.

So... c'mon, it's basically ready now.

Flip the switch.

Maybe we should do a twitter campaign or something to make it happen.

T7 has online battles (and good netcode) integrated into the arcade version (in Asia). After TTT2's stellar showcase, they're ready to nail it again.

would this be the first xb1/ps4/pc cross play game?

Rocket League is basically ready for full xplay but they didn't do it for now.

I wonder why, I thought it would be ready a few weeks after E3.

MS announced to allow full xplay with the rocket league pc/xbone update (before that they were pretty strict about xplay) but it seems to be they need approval from Sony for full xplay (they were pretty cool about xplay with pc so it shouldn't be a problem).

But what are they waiting for?

JUST. DO. IT.

Yeah, if and when every platformer holder is down for cross play, Rocket League will probably be the first. They're ready and waiting.

there will be an option to filter out PC players like in all other games that allow crossplay.

That's a pretty simple minded answer.
Do you really think SF V and Rocket League have cheater problems on pc?
Do you really think ever pc game is infested with cheaters?
I have news for you, on console they cheat too if they get the chance (like on 360/PS3 and even for some games on Bone and PS4).
A good anticheat and punishing system on all platforms is a must even in fighting games.
Normally fighting games don't suffer from cheater, games grt desynced if something is different.
Ragequitter and laggy matches are a far, far bigger problem thsn that.
I mean sure, you will get an option to disable xplay but basically your limiting your playerbase with no good reason.

But even then you should be supporting xplay, you have nothing to loose, only to gain.

And if you still want to exclude other platforms than you have a option in the game.

It's that simple.

Unless you're referring to in-game exploits, it's impossible to cheat on the PS4/XBO until and unless they have been exploited/hacked. The only exception is when a game allows you to import profile/stats from the PS3/X360 version (e.g. Diablo III).

Either way, my stance on this matter is that as long as console players are given the option to disable crossplay (already the case with SFV), it's all good.

This is amazing and I'm glad this is becoming the norm (SFV, KI, Tekken 7). In a perfect world MKX would also be cross-platform, or at least not dead on PC.

Most people who play fighting games seriously know better than to play on TVs with 3-4 frames of lag.

That's so false. I'd say 2-3% at most. Every person I've gone over to play fighting games with (who use a T.V.) have had some serious input lag on their setup. Especially the guys that go for the bargain brand big screens. Even in game mode some of those things have 18ms of lag. Even the SUPER high end creme of the crop 4K T.V.s like the OLED65G6P have over 30ms of latency. I usually have to bring my own monitor with me just so I don't have to deal with it.

Most people who are competitive about fighting games, shmups, FPS, moba, etc. play on low latency monitors. Not T.V.s
