But people voted Leave for other reasons than Xenophobia and Racism.

Honest....

Some people did.

That's doesn't mean that racist shitheads won't take Brexit to mean that their views are reaffirmed and can happily shout about it in public.

For the people who voted for Brexit for reasons other than xenophobia and racism, I hope those reasons are worth the rising xenophobia and racism we will experience now.

Make Britain British again actually means make England English again.

Fun times ahead.

Someone on facebook shared over 100 screenshots of these sorts of tweets/messages. Ridiculous.

I mean constantly saying #notallleavers doesn't change the fact that the main reason why people voted leave was immigration.
But people being unhappy with immigration doesn't mean they're racist of would resort to the kind of shit in the OP. It's much more complex than that.

Yeah I'm sure most racists did vote leave, but I know people I would go on record to say are not racist in the slightest but voted leave. I also know there are some with racist tendancies who voted Remain.

I've seen polish people openly abused in public long before brexit. Like I said scum gonna be scum. Just with the whole Brexit thing its been brought to the forefront.

And much like in the US, the Democrats/Labour bear just as much of the blame. Either they're sneering at them for being poor or they're actively joining in the xenophobia, but they sure as fuck aren't actually helping
I can't speak for Labour, but that doesn't describe the Democratic Party's platform at all. As has been said, it's the Republican Party that regularly shits on the poor, while telling them that their problems are really the fault of an interchanging group of brown people, either black, Latino, or Muslim.

Does that mean we can start telling English people to leave who are in my home country (Cyprus), now? No? Of course not because I'm not a racist xenophobic piece of shit. Fuck these people.

People reall thought if leave won they could kick out everyone that wasn't *quote* British*/Quote*?

I assume they thought everyone not born in this country would be deported the next day.

That we'd cut off all chances of any immigrants coming over ever again.

And go back to the 'good old days' to quote a pair of elderly leave voters on the news.

None of that will happen of course but then they didn't bother to actually look at the facts

It is hilarious hearing old people talk of the "good old days." Yeah, the good old days of miner's strikes, rationing, the 3 day week, Thatcher, imminent nuclear war, actual war and more.

Is every Leave voter racist? I doubt it. But every Leave voter supported a pretty brazenly racist campaign that used xenophobia to get people to the polls. It's shameful honestly.

Part of me wants all the non-white Brits to just take a holiday for a week and see how fucked the country would be by the time they come back. Doubt they'll enjoy going back to the good old days when they break their hip but the Filipino nurses and Indian doctors aren't there to look after them.

What's odd to me is all the worry about immigration. The population is like 90% white, I cannot imagine how these people would feel living in a country like the United States, or to a lesser extent Canada for example.

This was my biggest fear of a Leave victory; legitimised racism.

The likes of Britain First must have creamed their pants when the result came in, before immediately setting off to shout "get out!" at the nearest non-white, non-English, person they could find.

I used to love my country. Now I have never been more ashamed to be British.

just another negative consequence of leaving, the actual racists and xenophobes being emboldened by the decision

as if the current divisions weren't't enough, throw in these vile cunts

Was on the bus last year with my boyfriend. We were harassed by a group of chavs who said they would rape and murder us when we got off the bus. My bf is from Hong Kong originally, and the Leave vote further empowers scum like that to throw their weight around. Gay and non-white. Seriously thinking we need to invest in self defence lessons.

Fuck the Leave campaign.

Utterly shameful behaviour. I feel really bad for anyone on the receiving end of this abuse and made to feel unwelcome in the UK, I hope these racist cunts can be found and prosecuted.

Do they mean the good old days of ruling India and Hong Kong?

I see UK can really no longer claim they're smarter than Americans just because they have a fancy accent. You could have replaced "southern" and "Muslim" in here and I wouldn't know the difference from a US story.

Poor little kid had to experience first hand what ignorant people are like. You fought Hitler who loved blind racism and now you have some of your own. Keep it classy.

Greece. UK. Other nations. The US makes an easy target but the ignorant, racist, straight dumb fuck majority is clearly in Europe and not the US now.

Bound to happen. The leave campaign have convinced the worst racist elements of Britain that the rest of the country is behind them.

The problem is it legitimizes that kind of behavior, because you have politicians basically supporting it now.

Some people did.

The political term "useful idiot" comes to mind. Not saying that was the case with the Leave side of things as a whole, but don't just dismiss people's opinions about what the Leave campaign was about by saying that only a select few people are the real racist or whatever. The data shows that there exists a clear throughline of xenophobia within the Leave campaign.

Oh God must we really have yet another thread boil down to this judgemental nonsense?

Are you really going to say that 17,410,742 people all voted out of racism? That says a lot more about you to be honest.

On topic it's absolutely disgusting, especially the ones aimed at schools. Racists are going to be racists though. They're doing it now out of a bizarre sense of victory, as if everyone of a different nationality or race is going to be thrown out of the UK. Had Remain one, they would have done it out of a sense of anger. Scum gonna be scum no matter what.
Honestly, right now, a lot of people don't give two shits about what was in the heart of hearts of these 17m voters. The observable facts that everyone will remember is that this vote empowered racist assholes in England, was only possible thanks to them in the first place, and gave a huge shit eating grin to every fascist worldwide, from Putin to Orban.
Half of these voters could have genuinely believed that their Leave vote would cure cancer that it wouldn't change this outcome.

Enjoy your allies.

...What? So your saying in the US there are roving gangs of Muslims harassing the minority southern people?

I've taken this much harder than I thought I would have. For the first time I genuinely feel ashamed to call myself a British citizien. I live in London and although London voted to stay in I do feel the tension on the streets.

I'm ethnically Filipino but I'm British through and through. I was born here, raised here and I love this country. I've never been racially abused (although I have witnessed it in my lifetime targeted towards some of my black friends) and I've never felt nervous on the streets.....until now. Like I'm almost half expecting someone to say something dumb to me.

I also have a Swedish girlfriend who planned to come and live here with me so we could start a new life and a family together but obviously that plan is kind of on hold right now. It's been 3 days since the vote and my mood is still really down. Reading this stuff is just horrible.

Anyway I just wanted to vent. I need a pint

i imagine Poles, Swedes, Danes, Spaniards, etc are part of that 90%.

I dunno man. The body count of ethnic minorities by police that is completely legitimised by a political party begs to differ.

The poster I replied to basically implied that there was no other reason why someone would vote leave. Even if the main driver of the Leave campaign was racism and xenophobia, don't paint 17.5 million people as all being racists.

It's probably the hangover but your post is confusingly written.

Right, they are all knowingly fine with promoting racism, xenophobia, and bigotry. Completely different, right?

No they just willing and knowingly encouraged racists.

Or were entirely ignorant of what their vote meant.

Sounds similar to Republicans in the US. blame the minorities, while they rob those people blind.

Sometimes I feel people know it's their own kind that act against them but the simple belief of superiority over another race is too strong for them to resist acting like a racist asshole.

And no, promoting a side filled with racists for your own reasons doesn't suddenly make you racist. Just selfish or ignorant/naive.
