^ Hilarious if true. For both the E32013 and 2016 trailers. I didn't mind the Afrojack, personally. I thought it showcased the game pretty well at least.

These kinds of threads are going to be bad in the near future. What version of the game are we seeing? Launch Xbox One? Launch PS4? Xbox One S? Neo? Scorpio? PC?

No, at the end of 2013.
If Tabata was in charge of that trailer though why has anything since failed to live up to it?

The amount of bullshots and target renders we've seen of this since its inception should be a good indication of where they may have been at.

At least now maybe people can cool it on the Nomura worship.

I kind wished more recent games implemented the special statuses into the plot in FF.

Could you imagine needing to intentionally cast Mini, Imp, or even Frog on yourself in order to infiltrate an enemy location to collect information or sneak into a facility with very strong exterior security.

The only time this actually was done was way back in FF3 to go into the Mini Village. I think there was one part in FFV which you needed Frog to enter a sewer grate to go through an aqueduct or something.

I could totally see Ignis needing to convince Noctis to turn into a Frog to spy on a Niflheim enemy camp to find plans or what objective is and report back to him in some kind of "Sneak in undetected and disguised" sort minor stealth sequence.

That would be dope.

Maybe that's subjective. There's also the whole thing that E3 2013 was CG.

And to be honest, this has surpassed it in my opinion. it came without the hoopla of the reveal of the next numbered Final Fantasy at E3, and still has an amazing number of views. Even how it's directed, too.

The Uncovered trailers are pretty good, too. And to be honest, you can stitch the whole Altissia + Insomnia scenes in the E3 2013 trailer and the Uncovered trailer and they would look similar.

I actually think Uncovered was doper than that one. But it's difficult to match actual game footage against CG and target renders.

So the actual blog says Tabata selected the gameplay (battle) sequences from the 2013 trailer, such as the Iron Giant.

Man that 2013 trailer felt like such fluff at this point. Uncovered jpn trailer is where it's at(imo of course)

Didn't Nomura present the 2013 FF13 Versus trailer?
Than he said "one more" And we got the KH3 trailer.

But you know what, cool if it was Tabata all along, that was my favorite trailer actually :)
Kh3 trailer was even more fluff than the fluff in the ffxv trailer. Fluffception.

The person hasn't read the whole blog post yet, so we'll see. I don't think that other person from dev is Nomura. He's too big of a name to be mentioned anonymously.

Makes sense then. I thought that it was strange considering the 2013 trailer consisted of elements that Tabata has since altered or removed from the base game.

The blog doesn't actually say this.

Oh, I didn't see your post when I was writing mine. So basically the CG target render scenes were selected from what Nomura's was working on and Tabata only selected those "gameplay" scenes at the Imsomnia citadel?

That entire invasion is gone isn't it?

Edit:well it happened but we don't play it anymore.

The Altissia invasion or the Lucis invasion? The Lucis one is now Kingsglaive but there was no gameplay footage of the the Lucis invasion in the 2013 trailer (just those old CG scenes of the King squaring off with Idola). I don't think the Altissia invasion has been removed, just that it probably won't play like that section. I could be wrong though.

The blog specifically mentions this trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTQ2C978xVc

which is the E3 2013 battle trailer they released after the main one debuted. Specifically the blog says Tabata and one of the staff in charge of the game's camera worked on editing the Behemoth and Iron Giant scenes with the cooperation of the development team.

The last E3 trailer had a certain scene from the playable Leviathan setpiece that barely resembles the concept scene on the 2013 trailer. I think they reworked the Altissia invasion, but it's still there.

Lol I just read the blog myself and the Twitter dude just didn't get it. Tabata + editor worked on the battle scenes with dev team, doesn't imply the whole trailer was directed by him.

Well so much for that.

It wouldn't make sense for Tabata to be amazing at cutting trailers and then lose all ability to do so, shortly afterwards.

Also people replying to Kagari's question, citing that the footage were "bullshots" are completely missing the point. People weren't blown away by the 2013 reveal trailer because of the graphics (on the contrary, they were still using PS3 models). People were blown away by the pacing, grandeur, and tension in that reveal trailer. It was simply a wonderfully directed vertical slice. Tabata might be making the greatest FF ever, but he's proven he's not great at creating that same sense of grandeur over the years.

Yea exactly. We haven't seen gameplay footage of the Lucis invasion since the 2011 Versus XIII trailer.

That makes more sense. The "work in progress" text has been used for a lot of the XV media from E3 2013 onwards.

The gameplay parts of the E3 2013 story trailer was CG. However, all of the gameplay parts from that trailer are still in the game and have not been cut (they at least haven't said anything about it being cut). It probably looks very different since it obviously can't be CG in the final version.

I mean at the end of the day the final result is what important. He can make great trailers but was he delivering that. On the flip side Tabata may not be able to create good trailers(lies) but if delivers a good game id prefer that.

Oh for sure. If the game is better, I'd muuuch rather have that. Just describing why it wouldn't make any sense if the same man put together that 2013 trailer and the subsequent ones.

Yes, actually I remember people complaining about the graphic because the looked like Ps3 back then.

^ yup, that trailer was really well put together. Was exciting.

Although, I do really like the Uncovered trailer, so sometimes Tabata can be alright at it (lol).

Which uncovered trailer are we talking? The one thing I miss from the Nomura era trailers are the cryptic bs Latin or whatever phrases. The ambiguity kept me interested

I'm kinda torn, because I really like the vocal delivery of the Japanese cast. However, I still want to play the game in English. What to do, what to do.

The invasion is now the kingsglaive movie, which is basically a remixed opening of what would've been the actual opening of the game.

Well it came to having a highly abridged 10 minute opening cutscene that summarizes Kingsglaive after Noctis leaves Lucis in chapter 0

Or have possibly hour plus long CG movie, I'd honestly have the latter.

I mean even if they tried to condense the movie to make it fit into the game as CG cutscenes, it would ultimately blow up the game size anyways, since CG stuff always uses a lot of disc space.

Not that it matters to those getting the Deluxe Edition of FFXV who are getting both the game and Kingsglaive bluray on the same day, so it accomplishes the same thing in my opinion.

^yeah, having a long ass cutscene in the beginning of the game is not good for pacing either, even if it's a damn good one. That's my opinion anyway.

First part of the Uncovered trailer is cool. 2nd part I had to mute, just not a fan of that song it doesn't fit IMO. But still I think the environment trailer was a much better showcase

EDIT: Is that the only footage we have of guest characters in battle?
