Yeah I really like the point sampled textures mixed with the crazy shader & lighting effects. I don't think I've seen that style apart from Minecraft with shader mods and 2D games.

How does this look to be trending based on other Kickstarters by the way? I know some shot to being basically instantly funded while this didn't, but it seems that unless it completely peters out after the initial few hours it'd be set to hit the minimum goal... but the stretch goals?

Way to read something into my post that isn't there. Certainly there are ways to contact Sony dev outreach to get the ball rolling.

Maybe they did reach out but were not responded to.

I can see Charla jumping at this with an Xbox Dev kit in each hand. Does Sony even have a forward facing person that deals with indies?

Unity being called the worst engine of all times is just so laughable.

It's not the worst, but:

1) most of my dev friends working with unity whine about it CONSTANTLY

2) I experience far more games with poor optimization on Unity than games that are not on Unity. Gone Home should not be nearly unplayable on my rig, but the performance issues are everywhere. Galak-Z has frame drops. HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN?

They probably did. Sony never got back to them. End of Discussion.

All of you whining about a PS4 version are completely missing the point: It's not happening (currently), either you back and play on another platform than the one you desire, or you don't. And if you don't, don't come in here and go "well I'm not backing back there's no PS4 version" and expect people to be happy and/or accommodating with your pig-headedness.

I'd love for Uncharted 4 to hit PC so I could play the multiplayer with no online fee. It ain't happening, you know what I did? I dealt with it and never bought a PS4. *gasp*

It is. Nearly every Unity game I've played has some weird jank or performance issues. I'd rather everyone go Unreal Engine instead of this engine, even if that creates an Unreal Monopoly at this point.

Well Gone Home was running on an older version of Unity, 5.x made Unity a lot easier to develop for and performance is better (though work still needs to be done)

Also for VR games Unity is very nice compared to UE4 right now.

I'd love to hear about all those issue free, exquisitely performant UE4 games you've played, since that's what you're advocating for.

Go on, we're waiting.

What's the chances of one of the hidden stretch goals being VR? Now that the Lab renderer is free for Unity, could be very likely (and sorta easy for them to cram in, unless they want to give a good VR experience).

This has already been mentioned in the Kickstarter email.
Kickstarter Email said:
Exciting stretch goals await! Cross-platform integration, localization, and even VR implementation once we surpass our initial goal.

The demo makes me feel very nauseated, motion sickness is kicking in hard.

Other than that, looks good and atmosphere wise amazing, but obviously as a pre-alpha demo it still needs a lot of work.

I'm optimistic.

Quick question as this is my first kickstarter. When pledging where do you choose which platform you want to receive the game? Like do you get to choose Xbox or PC or do you get both?

After the KS is over the dev will usually send out a email survey and then you can indicate what platform you want.

Lets also go beyond Unity and UE4, and look at other engines. Didn't id tech 5 get alot of criticism about performance issues? What about Telltale Tool, or recent engines from SE?

What's with all the bad vibes in regards the console port? For starters, System Shock has no ties to Sony, so there's no real obligation there. Also, it's not like they chose Xbox; MS seems to have approached them about getting their game on the console, and even supplied them with the necessary tools, so I think that's fair enough. If Sony is interested, I'm sure they'll come around, but I don't get why some people are scornful over it like it's Night Dive's responsibility to get that ball rolling.

Anyways, I went into the demo blind, and it absolutely sold me. I actually got stuck at a few points because of all the pixel hunting, and ended up clocking out at 45 minutes.
Wasn't even mad when I finally realized you could interact with the wiring puzzle. I never noticed the light switch in the corridor near the end, so seeing the zombie and repair bot head for me in the darkness was awesome. Also, the part where you look out the window and see Saturn gave me chills. Having never played a SS game before, first thing that came to mind was riding the bathysphere to Rapture.

Bonus points for working so nicely with the Steam Controller. Took a bit to configure, but the ability to map mouse and gamepad alone made me really happy. Also, I got some drops below 60fps here and there on my 760, but they were so minimal that I can only assume they'll be fixed with time. I'm sold; as soon as it comes out, anyways. Can't back the Kickstarter due to lack of money, but definitely a day one purchase. Can't wait to see where this project goes!

Lol you're so defensive. Unity is fucking trash, every single major game made on the engine so far has horrendous performance issues besides maybe Firewatch.

200k in 5 hours is really good. It has a solid chance at hitting the stretch goals, and a lot of final 24 hr pushes result in huge gains.

They send out surveys once the campaign is done to get additional details like that. Usually.

Firewatch isn't free of "Unity issues".

Why are you discussing performance on a pre-alpha proof of concept you numpties.

Because Unity. Any other engine I might agree, but given all available data one can't say Unity inspires confidence.

Demo was AMAZING. It really is the best realization of System Shock you could hope for. The retro geometry interacting with the modern lighting made it feel so surreal. Ran 70-90+fps for me, but I do have a peak clocked 980ti. Backed it right after I finished the demo.

Backed. I require that steelbook. My only wish is that they include a physical artbook with the concept art for both old and new SS. Apart from the beta access, the rewards are rather slim for a $75 tier.

Will back upon confirmation that we'll get some semblance of the original game's UI. The fullscreen inventory was gross.

Then that clip of needles that only I know about wasn't hidden behind that computer, so I cried then took my anger out on this window....

Shit took me forever, then they started disappearing so I had to start over. What have I become?

I've always wanted to try out System Shock 1 and 2 ( Just noticed I actually own 2 on Steam) but never got around to it because I've noticed I have a harder time getting into older games a lot of the time if I never played it back in the day. This looks like it might be a good solution to that problem. I'll probably get impatient and end up playing through the originals waiting for this anyways haha.

Not too into the idea of adding in rpg mechanics, but I can understand why they would want to do it to make the game more consistent with SS2 and the potential future SS3.

SS1 is almost impenetrable now, imo. Very hard to play. SS2 less so especially with the enhanced mods. So I'm happy SS1 is being remade.

I hope at a point in my life i can play SS 1-3 with modern graphics and shit. We are 1 step there now.

The blaster effect when the blaster shoots something and leaves a burning hole does not work when I play. Is it my PC, it's a new and has a graphics card that's a couple years old. I watched Jim play it and it had that burning hole effect.

I want to back this so hard.... but literally the only thing I have that could run it would be my ps4. So...... it's such a shame.

Edit: I change my mind, I'll back it even if there isn't a ps4 version on the grounds... that there's a chance! That and honestly kickstarter isn't a preorder, it's me trying to get a project made. As it stands I want this to exist, who knows maybe by next year I'll have a decent pc.

This is more or less what I heard, which is why I kinda never got around to it. FYI to anyone curious, the game is unplayable on a SP3, even with the Res dropped down wayyy low. Its what I expected, but my desktop isn't hooked up right now and I was feeling to lazy to actually do anything about it.

I played SS2 for the first time a couple years ago and it is still an amazing game. There is a learning curve associated with modern games beating in simplicity, but it doesn't take long to ease back in.

But there are only two System Shocks.
