ohhhh i get your post now lol.

but yeah if you didnt know, you have a guage in wait mode that goes down slowly, once it hits the bottom you cant use it anymore. i guess to make it not too easy.

Persona 5 is one of the major JRPG releases in recent years and it's turn based. S-E has released games like Bravely Default or I Am Setsuna that are still turn based. World of FF and Kingdom Hearts Chi are turn based. If you know how to search, you'll find plenty of turn based JRPG nowadays. The fact that the new mainline XV is an action RPG gets more attention than it deserves, it doesn't mean the death of the genre.

Persona 5 isn't anywhere near as mainstream as Final Fantasy is. It's certainly grown in awareness by leaps and bounds by gaming enthusiasts, but "mainstream" is very different from just that.

Not mainstream. Ask any Joe off the street to name a RPG and you will probably get Elder Scrolls, Witcher, etc. FF was probably there at one point, and probably a big motivator in making 15's battle system what it is was an attempt to get that mainstream money. FF7R too.

Not knocking P5 and I'd love everyone to play it but don't think it will get the sales of the big western names.

Kind of a boring video. We knew the story had a focus on bonds back in the Versus days too.

There should be some new stuff next week at Japan Expo in France.

Anyway, Pokemon is obviously more mainstream than any other jRPG franchise. I don't think anyone can even debate that.

As for P5 being mainstream compared to FFXV...

Yeah they've been saying this for a while:they want a simple story (as in: no crazy convulted plot twists like XIII), but keep it revolving around a few themes (retrieving the crystal and your kingdom, family, friends etc.).
I like the idea honestly.
