Seems ok, although I'd probably be able to get a better opinion of the game if the servers worked. I literally live next door to a Pokestop so I can spam that for items at least while at home (assuming it doesn't crash, or fail to load, or whatever else the server issues are causing right now).

Just park in the parking lot. You're not going to catch fire by nearing the vicinity (unless there is a Growlithe or Ponyta hanging out, maybe).

Niantic should just take the servers offline, commit to fixing the errors or spinning up more server instances, and then communicating this to the public.
The biggest fubar right now is they are leaving the servers up while shit is fucked. So you end up with instances like people logging on but wasting their incense.
The idea of trying to fix shit while keeping it going is like failing server 101.
It was fine this morning and the one time I had free, stepped outside, it went down. I was really excited to play too, and haven't had a great week either, so this really put a damper even more on things. The Zubat did not register that I caught either, so no.

This morning I tracked one with 2 steps, if I was walking the wrong way it would add a step to 3. So I turned around and walked until the steps got to zero and then the Pokemon appeared.

If the Zubat didn't register, than it would have escaped from the Pokeball of the game didn't crash. If you actually capture it, it's saved. Don't blame the game because you had a bad week.
This I agree with. Have things stabilize and Tweet the progress. This is a reasonable proposition.

Maybe it means walk 20/100/100+ meters (in any direction). This might actually be a fitness app.
I mean it's a pretty fair possibility to speculate that they prepared as much as they had the ability to prepare for the load, tried extreme and obviously unpopular methods like staggering the rollout per region to ramp up, and still are getting crushed by sheer volume

dude, just install the apk, it is already on spanish, and there were pokestops(pokeparadas) even in my small city (im from mexico)

We still don't have Miitomo in the Scandinavian countries :lol Hopefully PKMN GO comes out here soon. US version already works for my area

The gyms is the cool part of the game, also you can level up the pokemons, the game is more complex than i first thought.. if you like Ingress you are going to love this game. The real problem right now are the servers.
Not sure why you keep focusing on me when there's plenty of other people here venting their frustrations. Is it wrong to be upset and then get fingers pointed that I made a erong choice? I was super excited to go out and everything, but can't do anything.
As I agreed with the above, they should probably do full maintenance before they keep bringing it back.
Seems about right, and yeah they can be in any direction, you'll see the footsteps decrease if you're going the right way.
Pokemon can show up in the "Nearby" tracker with 0 footprints- meaning basically you're right on top of them and if they're spawning you're exactly where you need to be.

The good news is when its working its really fun, got me to walk around more then I usually do. I could see my self driving to parks and stuff just to go on walks and check out my app.

Besides the obvious issues enjoying it so far. This is kinda what I wanted ingress to be as I liked the concept of ingress but there was essentially nothing to do (they should have reset that game imho).

I made one post and people came in and pointed fingers laughing saying I should of expected this, so I replied. I did have a solution, something that was posted above.
It's roughly the height of an Ivysaur.
This isn't compatible with my fairly newish phone. Is that likely to change as they release more versions (I'm UK so I'm not sure its released at all), or am I screwed?
