I am completely stumped in C-Team's
Infirmary Room in the "Poison" part
, need a hint.

I have the spray, stethoscope, syringe, & barcode reader, checked those drawers which had nothing, need to unlock the lockers & get a card key

Edit: ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
I could've freakin' sworn I tried the spray on the lockers, but for some reason, it NOW decides to work.

Also, what the hell is with the portraits in the Status screen?

Alright, so up until this game I've been rolling with the DS/3ds versions because I love using the touchscreen for the puzzles (and everything else to tbh) when it comes to games like this, but this time I went with the Vita version because I've heard there were less puzzle rooms and that it was just overall a better version, but as I'm playing it I really hate how slow it controls in the puzzle rooms, and I can't stop thinking how much it would be to play with the stylus.
Since I'm only like two hours in I'm considering buying the 3ds version instead, but I thought I'd ask about how it is before buying the same game twice (even though I don't mind doing it to up the sales for the game).
So, is there anyone in here who owns the 3ds version that can tell me how it plays? Since it's supposed to be the lesser version. I really don't care about the graphics downgrade, more about controls (is it like VLR?), sound etc etc.

Thanks.

Also, I don't need people who own the Vita version replying saying they don't have any problems with the controls and so on, if it works for you then great.

Considered grabbing a capacitive stylus? That might make the difference versus having to use your fingers and analog sticks.

(Got PC in the end myself, it's a natural fit for mouse controls unsurprisingly.)

Just finished the game.

If this really is the last entry of the series, I expected WAY MORE from the ending. I will miss these characters...

I was thinking about it, but in the end I just ended up buying the 3ds version. Thanks for the answer though.

Just finished the game last night. It really is a mechanically better game than VLR and 999, but the plot twists/highs felt lower than VLR at least. I did love the game, but I guess it didn't surprise me as much as I expected or the previous game..

Also, hate the flower bloom puzzle :p

Great stuff!

How do I get the Virtue's True Reward achievement? I have beaten the entire game but I played some segments offline, so the achievements didn't all proc. I found all the other ones, but I don't know exactly what scene triggers this one.

That should occurred during the force quit box true ending route, IIRC. Weird that it's not triggered.

it's not all that weird, really

EDIT: For reference for anyone else who misses this particular achievement/trophy:

Virtue's True Reward is obtained by beginning the Force Quit: C Cinema node.

it's not weird for steam, because steam's achievement system is shitty as hell, but xbox 360 had offline multiple-profile achievement support in november 2005 so i'm quite happy to say that in july 2016 steam sucks for not having figured out basic achievement stuff

Did we actually get any info about the sales of ZTD in the West? Japanese sales were disappointing as expected, but I hope they were solid elsewhere.

Oops, the game crashed during the ending and I lost like 30 minutes of game time. No quests/escapes luckily, but also no fast forward through the many end game cutscenes so I guess time to let everything play out while I do something else.

I can't say for sure, but I think I accidentally jumped to the point the game wasn't expecting and it confused it into crashing, since I usually like to go a bit earlier to refresh my memory of what was going on at that moment in time. In any case, don't ignore the save prompts like I did.

You can go into the settings and turn the skip button on and fast forward things even if the game thinks you haven't seen them.

Fuck this puzzle. Spent 20 minutes trying to align the segments with the hammer only to realize I needed the all the parts of the drill or whatever it was, and aligned it in 3 seconds.

I went in with high hopes and left dissapointed. It's okay but I'm not leaving with the 'mind blowing' experience of the previous games.

Very, very disappointed with the game, if that last square in the save file is all there is.

Just completed it.

The game did a decent enough job wrapping up everything left open by VLR, which in itself is a pretty tall task. I do feel like the way it is presented makes the entire thing seem a bit too disjointed to build up the same kind of emotional impact of some of Uchikoshi's other works, at least for me.

In terms of game design, there was one part where I got stuck, and I blame bad design for it :p
I never thought that I should try something in which I have a miniscule chance "often enough" without any outside influence affecting the result. (Referring to the dice roll of course)

Can someone give me a hint. I have been trying different variations, but still cannot figure out.

The roulette table puzzle:
If I compare the chart to the circled numbers, it gives me SINP. I have tried it and in reverse. I also tried the chess numbers 5564 that translated to SSTR (and tried it in reverse too)

Do I need to solve some other puzzle before this, or what the hell I am missing?

So I seem to be stuck in the flowchart. Not sure how to proceed, and have been replaying different paths in hope for some missed clues but no luck. I haven't solved any f
orce
-q
uit boxes
yet, if that helps place where I am in the game.

There are no ! marks on the chart or anything, and no new fragments in the select screen. I'm fairly certain the latest parts to unlock are the three force-quit paths. I have no idea on the solution to any of these, other than a single mother memento, "brooch".

The only loose ends other than the boxes I see are at the Mexican stand off (I assume the remaining path is Q's true name, which I don't know yet) and the golden secret door.

I wouldn't mind a small nudge in the right direction, if this is simply a matter of me forgetting a code in some timeline. I've combed through literally a couple hours of old cutscenes in hope for a hint and gave up for the night :p

Have you solved

? I believe it holds another hint for that.

Not 100% sure this is what you need, but have you played through
the Pod room
with Q team yet? And if so,
have you successfully answered Eric's question after solving that puzzle room
? That's a point in the game where a lot of people get stuck, and getting that right progresses the story, if I recall correctly.

EDIT: If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check the following in your global flowchart: have you seen
all the execution scenes for all 3 teams? I also got stuck there and actually triggering and seeing those scenes got me to progress.

I'm about 8hrs in. Despite ZE being one of my favorite series of all time, I'm really, really not feeling this one.

The puzzles and animations are fine. I'm disappointed that the puzzles don't have 2 solutions like VLR and that the animations suck, but they're not the focal point of the series imo.

One of the biggest issues is the memory fragments. They're just as cumbersome as I imagined they would be. Lots of recapping of the older games and revelations in the current game are repeated over and over because they need to consider that any fragment could have been your first.

Second issue is the decision-making. In 999 and VLR, the decisions you make determine what groups you break up into. You end up in different puzzle rooms with different cast. You spend the next hour+ soaking in the results of your decisions. In this game, the decisions I come across are
largely inconsequential. Do I push the blue button or not? How about an RNG Monty Hall problem? Who cares, the cutscene afterwards is 5min long and I'm just going to replay the decision anyway.

Lastly, it's frustrating how much of the game is spent split into 3 completely discrete groups. The interacting as a team of 9 dynamic is gone. I assume they all meet up near the end of the game, but having the first half of the game split up into 3 groups feels like I'm missing a lot of potential character moments.

Since this is ZE, I'm confident that the second half/last act will be phenomenal. Just a shame that playing the first half actually feels a bit like a chore right now.

I agree a lot of what you wrote, and, regarding the bolded part, l am very sorry to say it actually gets worse.

Yeah, I have.
Let it time out (this actually took me awhile to do haha). I assumed the mother memento might be mentioned in the monologue he gives afterwards about his own mother. Tried a few things but none worked.
But if that section does hold an answer then that's most likely all the hints I'll need, I go back and rewatch it tomorrow and might pick up on something new.

edit: just remembered, after that part, there is still a lock on the flowchart for the last section of that fragment.

I got stuck at a similar part. Make sure you've seen all the
execution scenes. You need to play the full decision game in multiple timelines to force the cutscene for every party.

Definitely check what Rez said above. I also edited my post with the same suggestion... realized it a little late. :p

I think I have? I'm fairly certain I went back and cleared every outcome. I mean, all the sections on the flowcharts are completed.
See, I thought the same.
I thought just picking the choices would be enough, but you actually need to see the scenes. You'll trigger a scene depending on your latest choice, I think, so you'll have to replay the Execution segments to get the scenes to trigger.

The flowchart shows 4 dots on the left side, disconnected from everything else: C-Team executed, Q-Team executed, D-Team executed, Everybody lives. You need to clear all of them.

Honestly, that was one of smarter narrative/gameplay elements, reflecting what the series' story is actually about. And it's not
like they give you the same outcome twice and then a victory out of nowhere. When the second throw clearly was different than the first, it was a pretty big hint.

I didn't take that as a hint, I took that as
the game really running an RNG for it -- as it actually does in many other cases! Which only makes "brute-forcing" it an even more unattractive proposition.
I obviously see where they were going with it story-wise, but I really think not indicating that
the roll is rigged
in any manner is bad design.

Make sure you have seen all the executions for all three teams. So in the Execution fragment, pick the wrong one for each team, so they can have 2 votes and get executed. To check what you already unlocked, in the flowchart, on the top left corner, you have a thumbs up (everyone lives) and three death icons, all with the teams' colours. You need to have them all lit up to be able to unlock a new section in the C-team fragments.

I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why I was stuck...

So I've got a number from the scene with Zero and Q - but where do I enter it? It doesn't seem to be the one for the computer and the force quit boxes don't have numbers.

Sorry for double post

19 hours in and loving the hell out of this game. I adore this game's gameplay structure and characters and am still being stumped by this story (though i think im starting to get some ideas about what's what). I'm so glad this game exists.

Fuck this puzzle. Spent 20 minutes trying to align the segments with the hammer only to realize I needed the all the parts of the drill or whatever it was, and aligned it in 3 seconds.

I had problems with that at first too but realized that was out of the order fairly quickly when one of the characters said something like "we could do that, but there isn't any reason to right now", regarding
hitting the long block back to the original position to stop spinning the room, which makes lining up the green lines logically impossible without doing so.
.

It does suck that the characters have to act ignorant of what you're clearly trying to do in order to block you off from what should be an obvious thing to try out immediately, but I think the dialog is still enough to get you to move on.
