Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

The sparkly curved throw seems to be a random element tied to the color of the throwing ring. Orange and Red rings will have a higher chance of a curved shot as a way of suggesting that the Pokemon is tough to catch. If you usr a higher level PokeBall (like a great ball) the ring will change from red or orange to yellow or green and you will have less curve shots. Heres a tip, if the Pokemon is green or yellow you can choose to throw a curve shot yourself buy swiping your finger in an arc. The ball will be sparkly but if you catch it you will get a "Curve Shot" 10xp bonus.

Huh, I didn't know that it would automatically curve your shots. I knew about manually curving your shots, but I didn't know about that. Thank you!

Hey, I've just jumped into this the last couple of days and I have a couple of questions. I hope someone can help.

I'm in the UK on iOS. I got tired of waiting so created a USA Apple ID to download the app. Pretty painless, I just have to log out of my UK ID and into the US one whenever an update hits such as today. My plan is to download the UK app whenever it is released and move to that, but my question is can I login using the same account (Google) and all my progress will carry without having to start anew? I've held off spending any real money in app for this reason, despite it showing in GBP when I'm logged into my UK Apple ID on my phone.

Im also wondering about the Pokemon that show up. I don't know anyone else who plays right now, but are the Pokemon that pop up user specific, or does everyone in the general vicinity also see them and has an opportunity to catch them too?

Finally, today I sat and watched as a Blue team gym was defeated by Red team. Immediately, after the takeover, the new Red gym was level 3 and had 3 Pokemon stationed. How is this possible? I thought in order to raise a gyms level you had to train it for prestige, and each level gained allowed more Pokemon to be dropped off. This would take a couple minutes at least right. But this really was immediately after the red team win. Any ideas?

17 mile bike ride as 0.2km because this fucking speed limit, there's a bike in the game for crying out loud. I also have a hard time keeping the app open, my phone inevitably hits a button or something and changes apps or goes to sleep. I leave it open in power saver mode and I still have trouble. You think they could do this in the background.
The speed limit exists for a reason. This is supposed to be a walking/jogging game. Frankly they should eliminate the ability to even catch Pokemon or activate Pokestops if you're going over the speed limit they have set as well in order to eliminate the possibility of car-related accidents or providing those who drive or bike with an advantage.

Bike slower if you insist on biking, but you knew the speed limit was there beforehand.

Guess who's a PTC user on iOS who updated to 1.0.1?

This guy.

How the flying fuck was a bug that completely disabled an entire login method on an entire platform not found during testing?

Last nights adventure had a lot of highs and lows.

This was an absolute high:

Unfortunately a crushing low followed right after:

With finding Pokemon, unless your using an incense, then everyone should be able to find the same pokemon in that general vicinity. There have been stories here about someone hearing another person say like "There's a Pikachu over here!" and then people flock over to where they were standing.

Though I have been finding, and this might just be coincidence, that as I become higher in trainer level, rarer Pokemon are showing up in my nearby list, or at least more than just Pidgeys Rattatas and Spearows. I've been seeing more Raticates and Pidgeottos and sometimes Pidgeots in my lists. That might just be coincidence though.

Everybody can see them, but they'll get different instances (different CP, etc.)

The Android update isn't out yet, right? I'm in Canada so I can't check the Play Store for an update and need to use APK Mirror but I'm not sure when that site updates.

I downloaded the apk and wanted to install the one in Google Play for the new update.

But it says "not available in your country" I'm American who lived in Michigan? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s7. Why is it doing this?

Edit: Fix by deleting play store cache

If you're the same level, they have the same CP if they're from the same instance, and same weight/height too. Essentially, same Pokemon, just at different stages.

Can someone help with setting up a child account under my Pokemon Trainer account? I set up an account for my nephew, but when I try to log into Go, it says the ToS hasn't been accepted for the account and that parent/guardian has to log in to their account to accept the terms for the child account.

However, when I log into my account and then try to click on settings for Pokemon Go (or any other game) under his account, it just dumps me out to the main page. I can log into his account in a browser okay but I can't give consent for anything, nothing works.

Also, the app doesn't give an option to log in with a google account, only a Pokemon Trainer account. He has an LG Android phone. Thanks to anyone that can help.

This game sure would be much better if it gave me the direction of something on the radar

This

Even of they just said N S E W I would be happy

I walked a square of 5 blocks last night trying to catch a Golduck. It stayed at 3 prints the entire time

Meanwhile I get random Zubats and Weedles all the time

CP is capped by your trainer level. Essentially, the amount of times you can use power up before hitting the max CP for any given Pokemon is 2*your trainer level.
It's species specific right? Every Jolteon isn't going to have a different max CP?

It is species specific, but apparently Silph Road, which I've found to be the most accurate source, says that the CP-cap is higher for hatched Pokemon. So two caught Jolteon will have the same CP cap at any given level, and two hatched Jolteon will have the same CP cap at any given level, but a hatched Jolteon will have a higher CP than a caught Jolteon at any given level.

It'll be the same app, just with the DRM tied to a different iTunes account. You can even switch between the iOS app and the Android app by logging in to the game using the same Google account, so you'll be fine.

What holder are you using?

Roam Co-Pilot Universal Bike Phone Mount

Just got it tonight from Amazon, it was $15 or so.

I haven't used it enough obviously but it seems decent, more bulky than I want, and it's a ball joint mount but hasn't budged yet.

Really? I thought it was random for each player. Though I know if it glitches out while capturing and I restart the game, if that Pokémon is still in the field, it'll have the same CP as when it glitched. May have to test this out.

Update: got fucked by Hawkian. His guide is wrong. He claims that evolving a Pokemon will tie it's cp to your cp. that is wrong. I evolved my 102 eevee at about 3 trainer levels above when I got my Jolteon and it only went to 230 flareon. Effectively worthless to me
The max Cp potential is tied to your trainer level. Explain what you'd have done differently and I'll update the language in that section to be more clear :/

So I just found out that my Phone is incompatible with the game, oh well guess I am never playing it then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

can't you just use the apk to download it'or use an alternative shop (like qooapp) to download the game and keep it updated

Hawkian

The Cryptarch's Bane
I'm reading that section in the guide, and I'm not really sure what he means by it so I won't agree/disagree. What I will do is tell you exactly how evolution affects CP.

Look at the arc above the Pokemon. For our example we'll say that the dot on arc is right in the middle. When you evolve it, the dot stays exactly the the middle of the arc. Its the CP values that change. And the max CP increases along with trainer level. What you would see if you leveled up like 50 levels is that the dot in the middle of the arc would gradually go towards the left as the CP ceiling rose higher and higher.

tl:dr you weren't fucked
Exactly correct
