Dead Rising being remastered for PS4/XBO/PC, DR2 and OTR to PS4/XBO

I know "later" is not now, but I'll try anyway:
- The XBLA stuff (Case Zero and Case West) -- are they a part of this?
- ETA 2016 or 2017?

With the Trophy list out in the open, launch won't be too far away. We'll have a formal announcement in the not-too-distant future.

Really happy to hear about DR1 for the PC. I've wanted that since it first came out on Xbox 360.

That is, of course, assuming it's running on the original Capcom MT Framework engine and not whatever the Canadian studio who took over the franchise cobbled together for DR2 and beyond.

Didn't Microsoft fund DR3?

I think it's a similar situation to Rise of the Tomb Raider. Which is why Capcom published it on Steam.

People also thought that because Microsoft would publish DR4 that it wouldn't be on PS4 or Steam but the lord shined light on PC Dead Rising fans multiple times this year

Since the cat's now out of the bag, yes, DR1 is coming to XB1, PS4, and PC (Steamworks).

In addition, DR2 and DR2:OTR is coming to XB1 and PS4. (PC already has them)

We'll have more info later :)

Later as in today? Or later as in weeks/months?

I need to know, I have them all on 360 but will easily re buy them all as its my favourite series on 360/Xbox.

Hype intensifies.

Swell news! I'm gonna assume a 20 dollar price point for each just like the recent Resident Evil remasters.

I still own and play through all of them occasionally, so I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'm gonna grab them.
I'll probably buy them all

(Also there's a Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 trophy list up too)

I've never really played DR before. How does the timer enhance the experience? Seems like it would get annoying.

From earlier in the thread:

Some people don't understand the game even to this day. You are Phil Connors and the game is Groundhog Day 2. The whole point is you relive the same time period over and over building up a knowledge of everything that happens in the mall and what time it happens. Then you run to catch the kid falling out of the tree, head over to jack up the old ladies' car and arrive on schedule to give the mayor the Heimlich Maneuver.

Such a shame you didn't relaunch DR2 and OTR on Steam with the next-gen ports. The porting to Steamworks was kinda bad with TIR ranked not working and coop play is really specific. Also no windowed mode...

So good. Now all need to wait for is the post that say "Okami now on PC", at which point I am sure I will think up a new wishlist of games!

What about framerate for the PS4 version? I'm willing to get that version instead of the PC one if it runs at 60 FPS... For Trophies, you see.

This is great news. I loved DR and recently let a friend borrow the first one. I can't wait to play it again remastered on PS4. I wonder if the 3rd one will make its way over or is that a Microsoft funded situation...

Finally, it's been a while since I've played Dead Rising 1.

Although I have to ask, why do some people say it's the best in the series? I've seen quite a few people say that, but I've never heard a single reason for it. I thought they got better with every game (except for Case West).

I need Dead Rising 1 on PC like 10 years ago now.

it's only a matter of time before they release a Viewtiful Joe collection. It is about the only series that haven't remastered at this point.

I will pick the first Dead Rising up if it is the same price as the RE remasters.

It's still the best realization of that particular style of game design. The map design, the weapons etc.

Everything after it started to homogenize the design, starting with DR2 introducing crafting, save slots, improved survivor AI (I still feel the dumb AI added to the original game but I have Stockholm syndrome when it comes to this game) and so forth.

The only Dead Rising game I have played is OTR, and I found it absolutely amazing.

Is there anything the first two games do better than OTR?

Oh wow. I was kinda bummed that the Dead Rising series always swerved PlayStation consoles. I didn't get to play 1, then tried 2 when it came out and really quite enjoyed it, then 3 went back to XB1 (and PC I guess) and I just thought "fuck it, not bothering with this".

1 & 2 available on PS4 would likely get me back into the series again, and with 3 & 4 on PC I might finally be able to play the whole thing!

Oh nice. The first DR was one of the games I was hoping would be made backwards-compatible on Xbox, if for nothing else than to resolve the screen-tearing from the original.

Also, MT Framework will probably ensure a decent-enough PC port.
