Twitter has just banned Milo Yiannopoulos permanently

People asking for evidence is now a Defense Force.

This is too funny.

Not that Milo isn't a complete pos, but still, stop with the nonsense.

Milo has consistently violated Twitter TOS, being suspended twice.

You are not the arbiter of who gets to use Twitter. There is no Evidence necessary. Twitter CEO could have just said "FUCK MILO" and banned him.

I don't know, but the point I was making was that people can be reasoned with unlike the poster's opinion.

That said, I would wager to guess that a similar result can be found when it comes to the Internet (not specifically Twitter).

He has a website. Reach out to him there. See if you can reason with him. We'll wait.

There was a recent study which disagrees with your opinion. Talking to people face to face about their controversial opinions did in fact change their views.

http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016...ransgender-issues-can-change-their-prejudices

The initial study turned out to be a fraud, but the one linked above has been verified as a credible study.

I do not believe for a second that a study done with 56 canvassers to 500 some odd houses in a specific area is a study that can realistically conclude this.

If we're talking about mom and pop who are just ignorant of it and needed to be talked to about it, sure. Or someone who grew up without knowing better, okay.

But we're not talking about them.

We're talking about Gamer Gaters. We're talking about MRAs. We're talking about people who gleefully call black people gorillas on Twitter. People who say that a woman dressed in a revealing outfit should have known better. People who post on Youtube and Yahoo and Twitter calling Trans people freaks and perverts. People who say a young black unarmed kid should've known better than to be black around cops. People who are actively, disgustingly bigoted and prejudiced.

I am 100% without a doubt in my mind certain that having calm and repeated explanatory conversations with Milo and people like him will do absolutely nothing to change their views or better them as people.

Awful. It's not as if you had to read his tweets or even acknowledge him. I haven't been following what he's written during this week but I can't imagine it's as bad as some of the other shit I've seen on twitter.

Twitter is a sad load of garbage.

Your own source (likely) disproves the point everyone else is trying to make:

Yes there are people who can be reasoned with, but there are those that cannot, such as Milo and his fans. You don't try to reason with those types, you just shame and humiliate them.

So let me get this straight, years of using Twitter's platform to harass women and minorities and that wasn't enough to provoke a ban. But as soon as a handful of higher-profile celebrities leave because of the guy's despicable harassment campaigns, Twitter takes action.

Can't see that as being too praiseworthy, only if that's the start of a "clean up" campaign by Twitter.

Yeah true, pretty sure they only did something because the media noticed.

Keep crying, dipshit. Your favorite asshole just lost his biggest platform and now your filthy kind has to scramble to find a new medium.

Oh I'm sorry was that too "politically incorrect" of me?
Can we stop with this hatred over a few posts on a message board? You don't have to like or agree with someone but at least try to stay out of the gutter.

I agree whole-heartedly that this took waaay too long, but at least it's something.

Normally I would agree, but the person I replied to showed their true colors when he complained that Twitter was somehow being turned into a "safe space".

Notice that there is someone else I am replying to that I am much more respectful to.

he had over 300k followers who are primed to attack anyone he abuses.

So ban those people. I mean Milo is an asshole and if Twitter wants to ban all people that act like assholes on twitter then they can go ahead, but they banned Milo for instigating a harassment campaign, which doesn't seem to be true.

If only we didn't have more than 2 years of examining the collective coordinated behavior of these maladjusted sociopathic trolls and watching it escalate completely undeterred by counter-arguments to prove that no, engaging with these people will not change their minds oh wait no that's exactly what we have

OK so how does allowing these people on Twitter which isn't face to face at all help anything?

"hello anonymous stranger, would you consider not printing out a photo of my face, ejaculating on it, and sending it to me? or not spamming me with pics of gore and furry lolicon? It's really quite rude and hurtful."

"wow, you're right. i had a moment of self reflection and decided i was definitely in the wrong here."

All he did was make fun of her misspellings. The accusations of organizing a harassment campaign are hilarious. It should be easy to prove that by just posting the evidence. But he never did that.

This argument only works if you pretend signal boosting isn't a thing.

Why should it being a message board make any difference? If you're saying detestable shit you're saying detestable shit you know?

do you just not understand what gamergate is?

and yes, they need to ban all of his followers who engaged in harassment. simply banning milo isn't enough.

but faceless, surely people who (individually) send hundreds if not thousands of tweets containing every kind of -ism under the sun can be reasoned with

Except that wasn't all it was? But you can ignore the comments that don't fit your narrative. Go ahead.

If that's the case, and then that's what people want to know.

I mean it's good that he's banned, I have the misfortune of knowing his name.

But don't make up stuff.

I know that Twitter doesn't have to give evidence for their decisions.

If that's how they want to play it, then it's expected it will not go down well with some people.

I'm taken aback there are people who seriously have a problem with Twitter banning Milo fucking Yiannopoulos.

Like is this the hill people really want to die on?

I'd speak my mind here but I'd get banned for sure but if you're trying to say that he's not an abusive fuck then I don't know what to say.

Milo is an abysmal human much like his army of hate mongers.
