Konami Rep Says 'I Hope We Earn You Back'

It's a shame there's no bomberman on PS4/XBO. Was a great game to play on XBLA back in the day (alongside Uno!)

Not much they could do to bring me back to be honest. They lost me a long time ago when they stopped making games I was interested in and never refilled that gap.

Then there's Hudson and all those IPs and genres I loved from them just dead because of the Konami buyout.

Based on how Konami operates (isolating their employees) I doubt a social media manager would know anything. So I'm inclined to take things with a dump truck of salt.

I don't care about Konami. I cared about Kojima. The only Konami games I routinely played, were Kojima games. I used to play lots of Konami games, but that was like 25 years ago.

They will likely never "earn me back."

Please be MGS3. Just remake older titles and remaster them very respectably to current consoles. You don't need Kojima to know how to translate a game.

Humans are working on it, right? MGS3 will be fine.

There is no flying fucking way in hell they could interest us in a new Silent Hill after cancelling the one that had Kojima, Reedus, Del Toro and Junji Ito involved.

Anything attempted after that will be about as appealing as Worker and Parasite:

Win back with what? You gutted your game division and went full on pachinko/mobile. How can you say you want to win fans back when you aren't even making anything.

Ha! Good luck with that.

You want a relatively easy start though? Put all your good PS2 games up as PS2 Classics on the PS4. That means Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Suikoden III, Suikoden V, Shadow of Memories and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner.

Make that fox engine mgs3 remake a reality, give us the legacy collection + MGS4 on Steam, and continue to support MGSV/MGO3. Then I'll be okay with you again, Konami.

I"m in a bit of a minority, the only Konami games I was in love with were the Suikoden games.

If they made a Suikoden VI based off of 1/2/5, then I'd buy it, but many of us Suiko fans have long given up hope of seeing a sequel, so I"m not too excited.

Bullshit. After fucking over Kojima and his crew, and then doing an MGS3 remake? That's even worse. The only thing Konami could do worth anything would be self-sacrifice. Sell off Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and their other lingering properties to companies that give a shit beyond pachinko. But that's bad for their gambling market so that's never going to happen. Everything from this point on is a sucker game.

How could any of you actually fall for this? Really?

I would...go back if they remade Snake Eater.

Just sayin' it. Grass is greener and all that.

I don't think they can win back respect now, unless they actually pull down all the pachinko stuff and publically appologise, and even then.. ha ha.
If they are making a Metal Gear game... I think the only one that makes sense for them to do is MGR2 (Please! And I'm not saying this only because I want it really bad personally!)
Don't think Kojima's involvement is so necessary here, as it seemed PG did change the game quite a bit, most of their decisions seemingly being for the better.

Actions speak louder then words. Konami is going to have to at least show me something before I even consider giving them my trust back. Earning it will at least require releasing a couple of good games for their franchises.

It was the talent that brought me to their games. Team Silent, Igarashi, Kojima. Those dudes bail out because Konami is a proven bad place to work. And now guys want Konami to resurrect these artists' work as shambling undead mounds? For what? I know folks are thirsty for Metal Gear, but it's out there. 20-odd years of it.

Besides, anyone remember the sequel to The Birth of Man, painted by Jeff Bertolucci? I don't.

real talk: is konami's us social media manager actually privy to anything the company is doing?

Well, he is talking about a 30th Anniversary celebration, so there should be something. This, and you need to consider the insane amount of work for the pachinko, those cutscenes are pretty much a 1:1 reproduction of MGS3 cutscenes. Ok, in Japan pachinko are common, they did a similar thing with Castlevania etc, but it seems too much work this time for a pachinko only.

Most of the Konami US people I've interacted with in the past year have been very friendly and have attempted to fan the flames of the company's falling out with Kojima as best they can. However, that does not seem to be indicative of the company itself, to your point.

ARE YOU MAKING ANY GAMES!?

NO??

OK then ask me again when you are.

But before we even think about "us" again I'm gonna need a promise of MGS 1-4 (1080/60) on steam. Otherwise, I think we should just see other people.

Also: fuck Konami.

They're not working on anything. I'd be surprised if they put out -any- console games at all in a few years. Being social media manager for Konami seems like the most thankless job possible, not sure pretending like they're relevant at all is somehow the solution though.

They've already said they're releasing annual roster updates for new Pro European Soccer games every year.

PES is literally their only announced console product, though.

EDIT: Um...how do you do strikethrough on this site?

They can remake MGS3 with the Fox Engine if they wish. Great. But I still don't think it'd be enough. And I say that as someone who adores MGS3 to the moon and back as my former favourite game (still my second favourite to this day, mind).

If they want some semblance of a chance to get back in the good books, a public apology for treating people like Kojima + the senior KP figures (wasn't just Koj, remember), Iga and the other folks at the company who were treated like shit. And it'd have to come from the top and not on a PR level.

So they'd have to start there. And then we can talk about forgiving and being back in people's good graces. It'd be a long process, but by doing that, it'd be a start.

...I doubt it, though...

ZOE2 remake please! Not that it will ever happen, this is just lip service because they fucked up.

Unless they do this. In which case, ALL IS FORGIVEN!

Does Konami even have the capacity to give us a quality sidescrolling Castlevania? Is it even possible they can make a game that respects its players, one that doesn't treat them like idiots with forced camera pans and flashing ledges?

Yeah right.

They announce Konami Classics for release on Steam ala SEGA Genesis Collection. Legal way to perserve their games from the 80s and 90s along with allowing for gameplay mods etc.

That would be a start, they're not stopping Suikoden revival so I could see a classics collection happen the same way Atari did with the Atari Vault.

And even if they fell on their swords to make an apology, all the talent is still gone. It'd have to be a rebuilding period unlike any you've ever seen for a video game company. That would take so much energy... when they could just sit back and let the gambling money roll in.
