So, this is somewhat interesting I thought. Today over at Kinda Funny's Colin and Greg Live, Ty Root filled in for Greg (who is at Comic-Con). Ty (who left GameSpot last week- he was head of their video production, I believe) was reading a comment from someone complimenting how fit he was. He thanked the commenter and then went on to say how impressed he is with the communities of Kinda Funny and Giant Bomb and how friendly and appreciative they are compared to GameSpot. He specifically said that the compliment he received would never have happened at GameSpot.

Gamespot is a faceless video game videos site. It's no surprise. People who use it don't want to see faces, they just want raw game trailers and footage.

Danny is the exception, and it speaks a lot about his abilities that he excelled on that site.

I remember Danny saying something about the viewership numbers they got for The Lobby (or some other GameSpot show) compared to Giant Bomb videos.

I wouldn't be surprised if GameSpot was eventually absorbed into Giant Bomb (or vice-versa, depending on which brand name means more to CBS). I mean, how many personalities are left there? Danny, Mary, Alexa, Peter, and Erick come to mind.

I'm re-watching the DMX Gooba history video and it still makes me cry every time. I think it's in my top 5 funniest GB moment ever. That moment when they test the pipe for the first time and the sound effect happens to match perfectly the animation... Holy shit.


Also now I'm really bummed that because of the new studio we won'T be able to hear Drew laugh in the background anymore.

Like, when I watched it, I was remembering everything they said, but it felt so foreign and new, but when I clicked to another tab to read something, it felt normal again (as it was just audio). But when I switched back, it went back to feeling strange again.

Edit- Have the said if they will do video for GOTY discussions. Man, that would be nuts! Could you imagine watching that live and unedited!?

I just think it's refreshing to hear that Griffin and Justin find Saints Row humor to be as tired and tryhard as I do. Every few months I try to get into Saints Row 3 and the tone just kills it for me. The brilliance of the video is just icing on the cake.

Had a long day yesterday but managed to check out the updates on content through twitter, very excited. Also, that Sanic stream was almost a Konami conference. I wasn't going to watch it when I was Mixlring with Jeff but then I tuned in and I couldn't close it. Sonic Mania looks cool though.

I love UPF. At worst it's a good thing to put up on my second screen, and it sometimes has really high highs. Either way it's a good way to wind down the week with a beer, it's laid back.

I assume they're doing a video cast for GOTY too, the studio can fit all of them so no reason why not.

Probably not doing them live though! That wouldn't make sense with all the other content they release during GOTY and when they release it.
