I can't keep up with this thread or the Trump campaign.

But I will say this. No game in my life had me more hyped and delivered on that hype more than SMB3. I'm literally on VHS video jumping around with such joy on my Bday the day I received that game.

I played the shit out of it. Nothing will ever beat it for me. Nothing.

Three months before the general election, why would a candidate claim that the election will be rigged? Either to foment unrest afterward, or to claim that he was robbed. In either case, the remark suggests that he expects to lose.
The "it's rigged" angle is not a winning strategy, and I suspect the election results will be so lopsided that no one will take it seriously.

Then the post I replied to was fairly disengenuous.

Actually, it's not. The name of the hotel/casino is "Trump's Taj Mahal." The letter head they announced the closure on has Trump's name all over it. They kept the "Trump" in the name.

Also I know this woman speaking at the Trump rally right now. She's from Polk County, where I used to live.

I don't think that matters. Anyone who thinks it's rigged will think that no matter what.
It's not like there is any intelligent or logical reason to reach that conclusion.

If the GOP has ANY decency left and any concern for the country, their leaders will push against the rigged narrative. They know it's not true and Trump isn't the candidate to let push wackjobs towards a more dangerous place.

They don't care because they will try to fundraise off of it.

Remember, people who get conned are likely to continually get conned.

Fine, the people that now own the hotel were the first people to be disengenuous, but you continued that by posting about its closing in this thread. A poor, innocent bystander (me) got roped into making a comment by not knowing who the fuck owns a handful of rotting seaside hotels in southern New Jersey.

With the amount of latent racism and right wing media blaming Obama for every wrong in America, I'm legitimately surprised Obama hasn't been shot at.

The reason Trump is using a "it's rigged" narrative is because it stifles other members of the GOP from disavowing him because then he can argue the system itself is rigged to not let a straight-shooter like him be president. Getting a "it's rigged" narrative going essentially prevents his own party from turning on him.

The narrative that the election will be rigged is about as disqualifying as anything else Trump has said, in my mind. The GOP should disown him for that alone, if he keeps it up. It's absurd that one of the two candidates for president can undermine the integrity of our electoral system for no reason than to pander to a crowd. The only reason this is even remotely tolerated is that this kind of conspiratorial rhetoric has become so commonplace in right wing media.

I mean, I'll run eventually. But I got the gay so maybe that makes it easier to swallow?

I really do wonder how history books will handle this bizarre election.

This has to be one of the weirdest elections in our history. Even the primaries had their odd moments.

Trump is going to ride this out just like he rode out the Judge Curiel situation and he's going to switch to hammer on Clinton "giving money to Iran" in the next couple of days because its a nominally non-racist position that's on message about evil foreigners out to kill America.

Daaamn this trump warm up woman is going innnnn on "its riggggeeed"

wow

The "its rigged" narrative is one of the worst things to come out of this election season and its been said or encouraged by both sides (thx Sanders :/). American trust in the system of government is already at an all time low, can we please not push it further down? Only bad things will come out of it (more obstruction, more polarization, etc.)!

Shower thought: I don't think Ive ever seen an adam post outside of this thread.

I've had bad experiences with like gay bashing online so I stick to safe spaces. But, I post in College Football Gaf a lot during the season. And....some of the political threads. I get nervous around strange people. You all feel me. Or tolerate me. Which is good enough. :p

I'm going to agree here, "people are saying, a lot of people have told me" is his way of saying BS and not having to answer for it-- either the truth of it, or for the appropriateness of it. He uses it to say made up stuff, he also uses it to try to soften something he knows is probably over the line.
It's literally, "Nobody has ever said this but me."

See also: Rush Limbaugh and, "Don't doubt me on this."

That's what he's supposed to do at this rally today---concentrate on the Iran thing.

Think he's gonna do it?

I've had sodas at taco bell that were more concentrated than trump's stump speeches. I give him five minutes before he gets bored and starts going ham.

The glint of reality is that Trump performing poorly in PR hasn't dented his polling numbers enough for him to not realistically have a puncher's chance to win.

We have no polling from post meltdown so we have no idea what kind of dent it has made. I've seen a lot of people acting like these past 4 days are already baked into the polls and they are not.
