No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

The names of my planets will all depend on what they look like. Although I would like to be the first one to name a planet Tatooine or Klendathu.

Easy. Moment game loads in your rush into menus and upload your planet with either of those names. No matter what it looks like.

I'm guna try. I got the pre order and the pre load happening. But I'm on the west coast so people will be playing before me. I feel like Tatooine will be taken. Klendathu not so much.. but at the same time. Tatooine deserves to be a desert planet and Klendathu should have giant bugs on it.

Argh, I'm back to now knowing if I should buy the game (through a trade-in deals at ebgames) or not.

I feel like I'll probably give up quick on it because of other distractions and it not having a strong enough defined goal that I can clear up and move on from. (Even though there's the get to the center part)

Wait... you cannot use already chosen names?

People won't care tho. They just want to be one(s) to use pop culture names for planets, animals and plants.

Yep. Once name Y is taken by X you can't use it for e.g. planet.

So good!

All first planets are unique.
I know, which is why I want footage of it :P
I want longer videos, but dont want to watch people being too far in exploring all kinds of crazy shit.

So do we have more first planet exploration videos anywhere other than daymeeuhn? Would love to watch. :)

So it's probably already been discussed but in the new trailer https://youtu.be/lqDA1pffpiw it clearly states journey to the centre of the 'universe' and later states the 'galaxy' is yours. To me this clearly defines the centre of the 'galaxy' is not the centre of the universe. Thoughts?

Either this or they're just being sloppy with their language.

Edit: For the record, I think people are reading way too much into marketing copy and offhand comments made by the devs. We'll find out how it works in a few short days.

But I'm sure there keeping tabs on this thread, and the timing of releasing the trailer after people were discussing it. I'm fairly confident theirs more than one galaxy to go through to get to the credits.

There's a part where your visor/screen gets glassed over by what appears to be ice?

Has a streamer had that happen to them? I imagine if it gets too cold and your life support is low...interesting.

Haven't seen it happen to a streamer yet - but then I haven't seen a streamer in any real difficulty.

Yeah I'm a little disappointed in them seemingly changing the challenge required. No longer being too make it to beacons, no longer losing your ship, all planets easy to survive on etc. Still day 1 but it's not ideal.

Hahaha, it actually looks better with the smaller gif after.

I have no clue what I am going to name the first planet. In fact, I am shocked I have not put any thought into it.

What is everyone going to go with? Has anyone thought of it?

My first planet.... "step #1."

yeah it's kind of dumb to try to pick apart specific wording at this point, I don't think there's any revelations to be found there.

Big lurker here. One question,

Does anyone know what are those translucent squares that appear when the player uses the scanner? like this pic:

(Sorry for the huge screen tho)

I believe resources you cannot harvest yet, until upgraded equipment?

Yup, it's going to be interesting to see what the patch does. At this point, the universe doesn't seem that dangerous. You need a balance between encouraging exploration and keeping that exploration interesting by making it challenging. And also a good balance between risk and reward. It seems a little too easy right now.

You know this is the spoiler thread, right? We already know that there are multiple galaxies and that getting to "the center" of the starting galaxy (Euclid) allows access to another galaxy. Presumably, the center of that one gives access to yet another, and so on.

They're just being sloppy with the language at this point. Maybe there is an "end" in the center of the universe, and you reach that after 20 different galaxies or something. We've got no clue at this point.

But the starting galaxy's center does lead to another different one, we know that much.

It surrounds the rocks and stuff that contain the elements you need for the current quest you are on. Say you need plutonium, it highlights everything that contains plutonium.

My feelings about the game have been a rollercoaster since the leaks started. Im very glad I saw what I saw which initially made me very disappointed and convinced me I would skip the game, yet after I accepted it for what it is (or at least what we believe it to be) and seeing some actual cool things happen, I'm coming back around and am more interested in playing it than before the leaks started.

I may not cancel my pre-order afterall.

You and I have had the same attitude towards the game. Regardless of the review scores, I will most certainly indulge in, if only for short sessions every once in a while. Titles like this one are scarce, and I shall contribute, however small my contribution might be, so that other forays into the "procedural" genre can be attempted...

You can see the credits at any time through the Options menu.

Consider the implications of that.

I suspect this might be from an earlier build, or there are things that haven't been seen so far. The normal scanner effect is much more translucent, and the metal deposits in that picture are in shapes I've not seen in any streams yet.
