nice, I got a decent oddish from an egg too

pretty happy with how he evolved

Sweet! Makes me really glad the 888 Gloom had really bad IV. As if it had maybe 75% or better IV I may have considered evolving. Much better now.

I can confirm the cheaters are gone from the gyms nearby. I just need to know that they are permanently banned to sleep with the biggest smile.

I believe I saw my first cheater at the mall gym today with a 2400ish CP Snorlax, they were level 32.

Maybe they are just hardcore? Still took it down with my team in the name of Instinct!

He sounds legit to me. Perfectly acceptable CP considering his level.

I'm fine with the type of tracking they're trying to implement, it just needs some indication that you're on the right track. Maybe the grass will have something to do with it and they'll have it start shaking or whatever? The mon growing larger would be good too like others suggested.

No. Cause players are still lvl 34 at my gym.
maybe they're doing it in waves, idk. something definitely happened in my area.

Went for a short walk to test the new sightings update. I was able to find the last Drowzee I needed to get my first Hypno! I'm now over halfway to a completed dex, with 75 caught.

It means the Pokemon's IV could be anywhere from 58% perfect to 89% perfect based on the numbers you see on your screen.....
I see, thanks. I used Poke assistant but how do the levels in the first column relate to the different percentages?

Pokemon also have levels, up to 40. Just like the trainer level, just not visible. The max level of each pokemon is your current trainer level. For each 2 upgrades the level of a pokemon raises by 1.

So example:
Your trainer level is 20. You caught a lvl 16 eevee (level not visible to you). If you upgrade it 2 times it will be level 17. Thats where the 0.5 levels are coming from, since you can upgrade twice each level. You can do this until it reaches level "20.5". At this point the arc on the top of the status screen will be full. When your trainer level reaches 21, the arc will not be full anymore and you will be able to level it up 2 times more ("21.5") and so on.

I think GPS has gotten worse with every release. Tons of GPS location lost, Walks not registering anything most of the time and Getting the speed pop up while sitting at work. Hahahahah

For what it's worth performance-wise the game has been smooth for me since I started a few days ago. The only time I might see the GPS missing message is right when I launch the app, and I think I only had it crash two times so far. I'm playing on an iPhone though, not sure if the app is more stable on iOS overall.

Same as well. Would like to know what it means...I am seeing less on tracker then before. Maybe it only shows the closest only now?

From their Facebook Page:

Trainers,
Pokémon GO has been updated to version 0.33.0 for Android and 1.3.0 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

-Added a dialog to remind Trainers that they should not play while traveling above a certain speed. Trainers must confirm they are not driving in order to continue playing.
-Made improvements to the accuracy of a curveball throw.
-Fixed a bug that prevented ”Nice,” ”Great,” and “Excellent” Poké Ball throws from awarding the appropriate XP bonuses.
-Fixed achievements showing incorrect Medal icons.
-Enabled the ability for Trainers to change their nickname one time. Please choose your new nickname wisely.
-Resolved issues with the battery saver mode on iOS and re-enabled the feature.
-Added visuals of Team Leaders Candela, Blanche, and Spark.
-We’re currently testing a variation of the “Nearby Pokémon” feature with a subset of users. During this period you may see some variation in the nearby Pokémon UI.
-Minor text fixes

We hope you enjoy this new version and please share your feedback!

Thanks! So many details of the game hidden and not explained in the app itself.

That's what I mean - there is no order in the newest list. Just like there was no order when the steps were removed, nor when the three step bug was active.
Okay... I'm replying to the guy who was seemed to be thinking there was an order to the new Sightings list. You're just repeating that back to me?

We know there was no order to the Nearby list ever since it stopped differentiating steps. That's not news and is irrelevant to the latest update.

Anecdotal evidence and all, but today the gyms near my work and home were all out of cheaters (Brazil). They might be cleaning house.
Oh. Cheater gyms can still be taken down by regular players. It's just cumbersome and takes more potions. Better to not jump to conclusions of bans. :P

Two of my closest gyms are filled with level 33-34 spoofers. I should report them cos they've been that way for a few days.

I decided to play a little today after a bit of a hiatus to test out the new patch. To my surprise, I finally got that elusive Muk and finished my dex!

Excluding the regionals and legendaries of course.

Level 28 trainer, los Angeles. Took pretty much a month to finish haha

I have three gyms near me with the same level 39 guy as the gym leader with 2500+cp Snorlaxes in all of them...
They are banning in waves. Or they actually weren't idiots and spoofed closely to their location respecting the time it takes to travel from the locations?

I can't think of anything else.

Funny how all lvl 30+ players that got banned were Valor and Mystic. Well deserved for cheating.
It's best to stop talking about people getting banned when there's no proof except that they've been defeated by gyms. It's not like it's impossible for legit players to defeat cheaters in gyms. I've done it myself and I've seen cheaters' gyms changed hands plenty of times.

Did they make the starters easier to catch? I just caught a squirtle and it didn't have the red ring for a change.
What was the CP?

I gotta bookmark this post, I need to get into this. So how do I determine which level my Pokemon is at when caught?

Pidgey appears.

Ball is thrown.

Pidgey breaks free.

Pidgey escapes.

...yeah, gonna have to hope this was a one-off. Will go into more field testing later. I'm intrigued by the "sighting" chart. When you get closer or farther, do the blades of grass increase or decrease? Or is it just Pokemon order? Or is it still non-functional?

Well mathematically, the more popular groups will have more instances of cheaters, it's simple ratios. No need for the salt brah.

Right, but the situation was slightly different for me since I'm in Brazil and the game released here last week (August 3). The gyms were instantly populated by lv30 players with Dragonites, etc. It kept like this until early today, when on my way to work I noticed that a lot of gyms had people with lower levels, and this evening only reasonable level players were competing at the gym near my house.

The Niantic CEO also tweeted that a clean-up was coming. Anyway, it might be wishful thinking on my part and I don't know how the GPS cheating works to understand exactly what's going on, but I definitely hope this change is related to ban waves! It was good to finally have a good time with other people at a gym.

That's been the case before last week's update, after last week's update, and since today's update. Don't think too much into it.

Each Pokémon species has it's own base run rate and are more prone to running. I don't feel that's changed with any of the updates made.

Wow, nice job. I've only got 76, level 21. Got a ways to go =)

I think the likely scenario is the legit players have levelled up to a point where they're able to take down gyms. It's also possible that the cheaters populating the gyms at the start were cheaters who GPS spoofed to Brazil for easy picking on the new gyms and haven't really come back to check on those gyms after they've been defeated.

I've also been wondering when they'll start the ban waves after the CEO's tweet. Let's wait until get confirmation from Niantic that they've started bans, or evidence from people who got banned.

When I use an incense, all the nearby Pokemon gets near me? I mean... how does it work exactly?

And which is more effective: lure modules or incenses?

So... twice since updating, I've had two Pokemon run away from me, only for them to appear again moments later (Magikarp and Charmander). Not sure if this is a glitch due to server issues or something, but I've definitely never seen that before.

What would give me the most xp during my lucky egg. Evolving 3 Caterpie into Metapod which I already have registered, or 1 Metapod into Butterfree which I don't have registered?

In addition to what normally happens to you, incense will spawn a pokemon on top of you every minute that only you can see.
