This is a lie. There were in the same area at the same time but there was zero interaction or acknowledgement. They would literally have no idea that they "met" if they had not planned it out.

He compares it to Journey and Dark Souls, two games that you can see and interact with other players. One admittedly is in the form of messages (outside of the shades and summoning) which matches up with NMS and the planet naming stuff but the other, Journey, is a game where you can randomly meet other players and interact and see them and journey together until they go off on their own or you do or the disconnect etc. Why mention Journey, with that kind of mutliplayer, when you actually mean it won't have anything like it. Why did he cite FPS games like Destiny and PVP stuff as things you won't be doing? Why not say "also it won't be like Journey either"?

It's sad that the concept of a "shared universe" also won't be fully true.

For example, once bases are in, more than likely other people won't be able to see your bases. Considering they can't already see if you terraformed the planet in any way.

Those stickers have nothing to do with Sony or Hello. They're not covering up any price features. All of that info from Sony is still there. They just changed the PEGI rating. Sony or Hello Games have no control over what symbols are attached to the PEGI rating.

What I want to know is whether his lack of response is
a) Because he's having a panic attack at dealing with this backlash (remember how nervous he was before launch);
b) Because he's immorally delaying confirming he lied to get those first day PC sales; or
c) Because it should work and they're trying to figure out why it won't.

The amazing thing is that all three solutions seem equally likely to me. I hope for his sake that it's c) or a) in that order. His reputation wouldn't recover from b).

Dude have you even watched this video yourself? If so, how could you come to the conclusion that this video supports your point?

Again: he is being asked the simple question of whether two players can see each other when they are in the same place. And again he doesn't give a straight answer. He starts his sentence with "yeah ... " and then spouts the same obtuse bs: "no focus on MP", "incredibly rare", "might not happen ever" etc. blabla but never a definitive "yes" or "no" to a simple question.

Quite to the contrary: he is then comparing the game's MP to Journey and Dark Souls - you know, games in which people could actually play with each other. Fucking NOPE. This game is NOTHING like Journey or Dark Souls. This is just another piece of wilful misinformation. So, thanks for the example against your agenda!

That simple, concise tweet would have been welcomed a month ago when the game went gold. Now, each day that goes by simply adds to their newly perceived levels of shade. There is no reason to not be completely transparent here. At worst they would have lost a certain % of sales from gamers who don't want to buy a game without multiplayer. Having these gamers be surprised after losing $60 in the investment is unacceptable and deserving of all criticism they receive.

This isn't about Sean being a nice guy. This is about dollars and sense. And it makes very little sense, GAF, unless you see this as intentional deceit. Why else refuse to clarify that it wasn't in the game and is or is not being worked on in the last several weeks that they knew it wasn't part of the product?
