Sorry I got some work done, went to the gym, came back, and Trump's campaign is still being RUN BY THE HEAD OF BREITBART

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Cleveland local news throwing shade.

"Trump received a security briefing. Supposedly, this means he's more informed..."

Also, the Trump ad that's going up in Ohio is literally Trump screaming WE'RE GOING TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

A bar I go to likes to play this song that uses the audio from that quote, it always brings a smile to my face.

One of the best political songs ever is Hail to the Chief by John McCutcheon. It's nothing but Bush quotes.

Well, I was born in west Texas, pretty near California,
Far away from Dad’s home in D.C.
Well, I’m talking about myself, and they’re talking about myself,
All of us are talking about me.

Now, some may retort, “Personal attacks.”
Take the high horse and claim the low road.
But I am not a revengeful person;
I’ll simply respond with this ode.

When I delivered the State of the Budget address,
I offered up a question or two.
How can a man still put food on his family?
Will the toll booth to the middle class become more few?

No, it’s time to make the pie higher.
This idea is sure to resignate.
This is no time to be subliminable —
It’s time to unificate.

You see, when there’s more trade, there’s more commerce,
And we’ll bring this solution to an end —
Even if your business is hispanically owned,
Whether you speak French or Mexican.

We’re working for a hopefuller country,
No longer balkanized.
Where humans and fish can coexist,
And each act civilized.

I think we can all agree that the past is over,
But still we’re held hostile everywhere.
These days we don’t know who they are,
But we certainly know that they’re there.

No longer inoculated by the mistakes of the past,
With a foreign-handed foreign policy,
We’ll keep good relations with Kosovoans and Grecians,
And avoid emotionality.

Now, we all know that reading is the basics of learning,
And learning . . . well, I forget the rest.
But teach a child to read and he or her
Will pass a literacy test.

So I ask you, is our children learning?
Will we tolerate failed subsidization?
Or will this be where wings take dream
And not a cufflink of federalization?

So if you’re tired of the politics of polls and principles,
It’s time that you joined his campaign.
See, we’re looking for women who will serve this country,
And never the House will they stain.

With our basics as the faith of our faith,
Where a troop can house his family,
We’ll find power to power the power of the power plants.
No, you’d best not misunderestimate me.

With every word and every breath
Our language dies a slow, sad death.
Hail to the chief, let’s give him hail —
Part Yogi Berra, part Dan Quayle.

-- Donald still within 6 nationally is just not good enough, I mean...

-- Iowa numbers are kinda concerning

-- Arizona numbers, anyone? Not happy until those come in.

-- Brietbart guy running a campaign is kinda scary. Imagine the damage he could do with that platform!

-- Losing Indiana could be a real blow to taking the House, which isn't even really a possibility

-- Obamacare is probably going to collapse any minute now, too. And who can fix it without a majority?

-- Seeing all these Hillary health rumors are legit concerning, real or not. What if that scares people?
What?

Ivanka: Dad we need to get your campaign on track. We need to get you with a teleprompter, need to keep you on message, and need to get a competent, experienced campaign manager.

Trump: I'm gonna hire Breitbart.

Ivanka: ....

Where's the money, Donald?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-burnett/trumps-missing-money_b_11472300.html

Lots of readable words...then the money paragraph:

There’s a third explanation for the missing $63m. The end-of-June FEC report indicates that Trump had lent his campaign $50m. Although Trump promised to forgive this loan, NBC news reported that he never filed the papers to actually do this. Perhaps Trump repaid himself from the $63m, leaving little money for ads and field staff.

That breitbart guy is not scary. Whatever he is planning for the rest of the campaign will just make trump even more unpopular with the general electorate.

There's stil a chance of her winning Indiana, but ahe probably will have to win by like 14+ nationally to have a shot at winning that state, but we really don't have many polls released for that state so far because of Indiana's polling rules.

I wouldn't worry about Iowa because she's probably going to win that state by 5+% on November 8th.

Also huffpollster shows him down by like 9% right now and not 6%.And I wouldn't worry about the health rumors because it's just trump supporters trying to find something to hurt hilary with because they are desperate to find something that will make trump win this election.

Do you guys remember when Amanda Carpenter and Katrina Pierson were supposedly superslagging Ted Cruz's holy sacrament and putting his worshipper factory in their propaganda chambers?

I still think that happened, at least with Katrina.

Remember when he said the media was lying and biased when they reported he never filled the FEC paperwork to forgive the loan?

It happened

Oh God, I hope so. Is there anyway we would find out? That has to be public record right?

Pretty much.

We know whenever they make an ad buy or set up ground staff. So far he's essentially done nothing in both respects. It's possible the campaign is saving the money, but we don't know where it is otherwise.

I don't think this is true. I looked at the FEC report and it showed he had forgiven the loan (around $48 million was reclassified via contribution from candidate).

Now the other $15 million may still be a loan.

Here, look at the difference between these 2.

Jun filing, outstanding debts $45.7 million:
http://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00580100/1079423/
Loan Schedule C, unpaid loan balances all 100%:
http://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00580100/1079423/sc/ALL

Jul filing, outstanding debts $0:
http://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00580100/1089674/
Loan Schedule C, loan balances all $0:
http://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00580100/1089674/sc/12

Either Trump is lying to the FEC, or more likely, this random HuffPo blogger is an idiot.

For real though, I'm pretty eager for some more AZ numbers. But I'm also a bit biased living in AZ... the suspense for the possibility of going blue...

New Daily Kos Elections just launched:

http://elections.dailykos.com/app/elections/2016

89% of Clinton win

EV:

Clinton: 316
Trump: 222

Senate:

Dem: 50
GOP: 50

Gov:

Dem: 18
GOP: 32

Read that from the bottom and almost had a heart attack since I went from senate and thought the EV numbers were for the House.

I mean, I can't see Trump paying himself back after explicitly saying he wouldn't. That's something where the GOP would abandon him as they effectively donated only after he specifically said he wouldn't.

I wonder if they could then sue him if he did. Would a public verbal contract like that stand up in a civil case?

We're in the reality where one of the two main presidential candidates is literally a sleeper agent for Russia.

2016: the draft Tom Clancy abandoned in his desk drawer for being too implausible.

I just want disillusionment fuel for Trump supporters. Something to put out the damn fire he's setting. Paying back his loan would be the right kind of scandal.

Katy Tur, Benjy Sarlin, and Ali Vitali with the 1, 2 punch.

http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/after-campaign-shake-it-s-trump-versus-world-n633046

"The move is clearly to let Trump be Trump," a campaign source told NBC News. "You're not going to change him, you can't moderate him, but you can sharpen his messaging."

A second source within the campaign said the expansion of staff stems from Trump's displeasure at how his campaign has been run and with internal efforts to rein in his freewheeling message.

"He has been deeply unhappy for weeks," a source who agreed to speak anonymously to discuss internal discussions told NBC.

"Hiring Bannon is a sharp pivot to the dark side for Trump," conservative radio host Charlie Sykes said. "We can expect more gratuitous insults, conspiracy theories, and attacks on the media, critics, other Republicans, and the kinds of viciously personal attacks on Hillary that could end up backfiring by making her an object of sympathy.

"Hiring Bannon to run the campaign in the midst of its crisis is insane," Republican consultant Rory Cooper said. "Trump needs a 75 day plan. He needs a political ground strategy. He needs an organization. Instead he's bringing in someone who will encourage him to speak to the same ten people who have supported him from day one."

"Trump's entire goal is to win the votes of his 13 million primary votes a second time," Matt Mackowkiak, a GOP strategist, tweeted bitterly in response to the news.

So many quotable gems. NBC is en fuego here.

I mentioned a while back that this is something out of Jack Ryan novel. It's baffling. Crazy thing is....Trump got intel brief today? Why isnt anyone concerned about Manafort? People are not up in arms because the Tom Clancy scenario literally happening before their eyes is too implausible to be true. Like Manafort giving our secrets to Kremlin? Pfft, run along now.

Manafort is not in the briefing but Flynn is and he was at the RT bash for Putin. I'm sure it is giving some pause. But you need a Top Secret clearance to receive the briefing so...

That's because Clare Malone is hot garbage. Avirgan is terrible, Malone is terrible, Silver should just run numbers instead of trying to analyze the political landscape, and even Wasserman is stuck on PA.

For good analysis on 538, there's Harry Enten, there's Julie Azari (maybe that's her last name?), and then one other woman whose name also fails me, but most of 538 has been shit at analysis. The podcast is near unlistenable because of Avirgan and Malone making shitty jokes and adding nothing insightful of value to the podcast. NPR's politics podcast is blowing them out of the water from an analytical standpoint.

I was listening to this weeks podcast, and was utterly astonished at their section on attacking the media. I mean, how can you spend 15 minutes taking about Trump doing this and not reference the political history here? That attacking the media is a mainstay of the insane right wing? That it's what Gingrich did in 2012 that gave him his surge in the primaries and allowed him to win South Carolina?

No, no political history or nuance at all. But we did get to have Hillary called a hawk. Repeatedly.

Their political analysis is just *bad*, No context or historical understanding, everything viewed through a Bernie / libertarian lens, and tons of stupid dead time when they are cracking unfunny jokes.

"Trump's entire goal is to win the votes of his 13 million primary votes a second time," Matt Mackowkiak, a GOP strategist, tweeted bitterly in response to the news.

He just can't see that the primary fight is different from the general election. That's why you see him say "Crooked" before Hillary (since he firmly believes that "low-energy" was what killed Jeb Bush, not the clear problems he had well before then), that's why you see him not spend money on ads, etc.

What a complete joke. This isn't even half-assed, as that would have required you to actually put one cheek in motion to claim.

I think it says something about the two bases that the democrat doesnt have to pivot to be electable to the general population. That is also a huge boon for democrats because pivoting opens you up to some justifiable flip-flopping attacks and saying anything to get elected barbs
