Another here that found Bastion fun while I stopped Transistor after few hours...

Transistor gameplay is from SNES age.
Bastion while generic is at least fun.

Bastion is superior.

Anyone know the deal with the Slaughterhouse area in BG&E? Why it's called that? I don't want to play the game if it's what it sounds like. :/ I tend to be sensitive about that sort of thing.

If I remember right, you don't see actual meat or dead bodies there or anyone actually being murdered

Look at the esrb and let that tell you all you need to know. In the UK you have to be 7.....

So I want to buy the Dragon Age: I. Trespasser DLC, why do I have a feeling the week that I'll buy it, the next week it'll go on special. Did I miss it being on sale already?

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
How is Soldner X-2: Final Prototype and Munch's Odyssee?

As far as I know, none of the dlc has ever been on sale til now. At least not this year.

Though its full price if you buy the expansions separately.

Transistor gameplay is from SNES age.

This is patently false. Transistor has a very innovative combat system that is [generally] half real time, half turn based. Essentially, you have free movement until your turn is charged, at which point you can carefully select your movements [a sort of evolution of real time w/ pause]. The perk/skill system is also innovative with all skills being able to be either set as primary or secondary modifier -- and secondary skills modify the primary in specific ways. For example, if you have, say a primary attack that hits one target, and put a AOE skill in the modifying slot, the primary skills might hit 2 targets. Or you might modify the AOE attack with a slowing attack... but even better you can modify anything with anything, so you could modify a movement skill [say, teleport] with an attack skill or vice verses, just to see what it does. The ways the skills intertwine and effect each other in this manner is really, really cool.

Transisitor has one of the coolest combat systems I've seen in a long time, and it's definitely not from the 'SNES' age. Add a great aesthetic and a fairly cool story and it's an absolute great game. My only complaint about the game was it was a touch too easy and I would have liked far harder combat scenarios.

I see, I guess it is sort of worth it to buy the GOTY edition and still get my money's worth. :\

I currently own the standard edition on disc.

So I thought of doing something possibly dumb.
So I have dragon age inquisition on ps4 physical but am tempted to get the goty since it's cheaper than buying the dlc separate.

Can anyone give me a heads up on the quality of the dlc packs? I remember hearing mixed thing for some of it on release but figured someone here has to have played through them.
So any opinions gaf?

You don't have free movement gameplay in the game... it is based is big squares like a chess table that makes it really dated and cheap.

Gameplay is what put me out from the game and I love strategy combat.

Bastion while not being an example of great gameplay is still better at it than Transistor.

Huh? You can move around and attack things as you please.

I asked earlier but I don't believe I got a response:

Is Another World worth a buck for someone who never played the original? Mind you, I grew up in the 80's and 90's, so I'm no stranger to challenging, obtuse games.

ESRB didn't specifically touch on it from what I saw so I was unsure. Thank you both for the info. What kind of slaughterhouse is it meant to be?
Again if I remember right, people were being abducted/transported by aliens in the Slaughterhouse. Nothing violent is shown though.

I can't say, but I went ahead and got it....I remember reading about it over 20 years ago and wanting it back then but never got it.....figured for a buck and change it's no harm done lol

Yeah, I think I'm just gonna' go for it. Even if I hate it, it's only a dollar .

Ended up getting Dragon Age: Inquistion - GOTY edition. I actually just beat the main Inquistion game and was interested in trying out the DLC, which are all still 15 bucks each. Glad I held off, as the GOTY comes with all 3 and was only a couple of dollars more than one individual DLC.

Save yer money. CII is... just bland and boring. It's got all these cool systems in place, so if you play the demo you'll think you're in for something awesome -- positional attacks, combos, great character creation... but in practice, it's so easy you just attack/attack/attack... x, x, x, x,.... you don't need to cast any of your spells, you don't need to position anything [except maybe for a couple bosses]... it's just way, way, way too easy and it means all the systems are meaningless.

Disappointing. Oh well, DA:I it is.

Should I play DA2 first?

Not sure if I should get dmc4se or mgs rising. I love dmc series and played dmc4 for ps3 but wondering if I should opt for mgs since I love that series too and haven't tried mgs rising.

What? First, that's not how Transistor plays. You have free movement. But even if you didn't have free movement, it wouldn't make it 'dated and cheap'... that's a ridiculous assertion.

More to the point, you claim to "love" 'strategy combat' but also seem to despise fixed movement? That doesn't compute. That's like saying you love traditional roguelikes but hate turn based combat.

You should definitely give the game another try because either you are thinking of the wrong game or you didn't put enough time into it. I'd heavily recommend Transistor to any fan of strategy combat.

Huh? You can move around and attack things as you please.

Yup.

Skip both, honestly.

DA:Origins is great. DA2 sort of missed the point of DA:O, took out the best parts, added in nothing important.

DA:I seemed to understand what made DA:O good, and included it all, but then went overboard and turned it into an endless collectathon [and ruined the combat mechanics to boot].

If you're looking for a modern, western RPG get Divinity, Witcher 3, and Transistor from this sale.

Then grab Siralim, Breath of Fire, and some FF for your vita.

Absolutely, but be warned there is a lot of trial and error but if you can tolerate that (or have a faq nearby) the game atmosphere and presentation is superb even by today standards.

havent played any of the FF games, which ones should I pick up?
also i see everyone recommending the Wild Arms series, has anyone here played it recently that has some input?

imo, pick up ff vi. don't bother with wild arms. I didn't like it personally. it's outdated. play breath of fire iv instead.

Asking for what Final Fantasy game to play first is kinda like asking what ice cream flavor to try first, Everything can be great but it depends on you preferences :) do you like chocolate or vanilla? maybe some chocochip or strawberry?

If yow want the best gameplay then go for Final Fantasy Tactics which is not a traditional game in the series but offers the best mechanics

If you want the best story (and music) go for FF VI, but be warned load times can get annoying

FFIX provides a good entry point since it has the cinematic presentation and looks to capture the essence of the first games on the series, but still to create a grand narrative

The Telltale Game of Thrones season pass isn't listed but I got it for $4.99 the other night so I am assuming it's still that price. Awesome deal. Really miss GoT so this should slake my desires for a while.

I bought DA:I a while back and now I regret it since I haven't touched it but the GOTY edition is now on sale. Oh well, maybe I'll hate it anyway.
