Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC performance thread

What? The Sharpening makes it look blocky and unnatural. The blur actually makes the picture look more coherent imho. Together with 2xmsaa I have yet to spot Jaggies.

I've tried without MSAA and surroundings look like 720p, the whole picture reminds me Quantum Break and that was one ugly picture

I said that this is a good looking game earlier in the thread. I have to revise my opinion after playing some more, it's an excellent looking game.

Anyone tried running this on a GTX770? Wondering if Id be better off getting the PS4 version.
40 to 60fps with high settings. I've not messed around a whole lot but the starting mission throws a lot of shit at the PC to render.

You'll definitely get above PS4 settings but a locked 60fps at high might be much. I have a 4gb one.

Runs fine on very high, with those tanking settings turned down on my 2500K@4,5+970+8Gb RAM, game ready driver.
Luckily the benchmark seems to lie :)
But weirdly I'm getting some anomalies, like missing textures, or some objects floating mid air on the Dubai map.
But I'll start it brand new, with these final settings.

All right, after starting a whole new game, everything seems fine. This is gonna be fun! :)

I agree:

Dubai isn't nothing special as an opening.
I'm hating mouse acceleration, feels janky as heck.

But it seems performance is a rock solid 60-70 fps. I bet it will drop down more later on, but lets hope not.

I agree. My screenshots turn out shit but my in-game look amazing, which is all that really matters to me.

60FPS and good looking, even on my 980s burning :D

At least I got some use out of having bought SLI a while ago. Seems to have about equal load on my GPUs too.

Clearly my GPU is the bottleneck on my PC, as my CPU is still a long way off maxing out, but I can deal with not having MSAA and 4k in a good looking game like this.

i7 6700k @ 4ghz
Titan X Pascal
24 GB RAM

Just fired it up in 4K with these settings and getting about 50fps in first level

Very high settings
No MSAA
Triple Buffering

Need to do some tweaking to see if I can get a solid 60fps.

I'm getting 55-70 fps in the first level. It's above 60 for 90 % of the time. Preset High with sharpen off.

Seems good, though I'm not sure if the first level is much of an indication.

My issue is more with the mouse acceleration. It's a bit off.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Gtx 760 here. Getting around 36-44 fps in prague depending on my vista on the high preset with temporal aa. I imagine your 770 will be better.

That's good to hear. The PS4 version is locked at 30fps so I'll no doubt get prettier graphics and higher framerates. Now to find a cheap key!

I took this one in the location that many people posted previously:

That's with the settings I play at, getting mostly 60 FPS. I'll try to take some more.

This is leagues better than the PS4 screen, and even the PC screen someone posted a bit back!

What GPU/settings?

We're you using double buffering before? That was probably the issue.

Nope. Thought it was at first as the opening scene in the benchmark ran at 30 but then as the camera neared the stairs it went up to 60. Really strange. I've never experienced gaining as many fps as that whilst tweaking any game.

So what settings are those? (sorry if you posted them earlier, lots of posts in this thread in a short time). I also have 1080 (and 6700K) so I wonder what settings would you recommend if I want to have stable 60fps?

I'm not exactly sure where the crash is supposed to happen but I'm in Jensens room in prague now and it didn't crash at a mix of Very High and Ultra settings with subtitles off (GTX 1080 / Win 10 Pro 64bit).
I also love that they allow you to scale the UI, that's really nice. Default felt very console-esque (as in huge, optimized to be used from a large distance on a TV).

So I can't seem to finish downloading this game. I had it preloaded, and it was stuck at 87%. I deleted the local contents, restarted Steam and the PC, cleared the download cache, and tried again... now it's stuck at 81% (18.5GB). I've never had an issue like this on Steam before. Any suggestions?

Disk usage is still going at ~15-20MB/s, while network is at 0 bytes. :/

CPU: 6600K
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070
RAM: 16GB DDR4
HDD: WD Black 1TB

Gonna try it properly after I eat dinner, but has anyone found a way to turn off the intro logos? I counted at least 5 of them, and they sure do take their sweet ass time on a couple.

Also, any reports on how it works with the Steam Controller? I've been playing DE1 with it and it feels fantastic, would like to do the same here (and this shouldn't be an issue since I've got a feeling this game has far fewer inputs, but thought I would ask).

i have an iMac mid 2011 with a 6970M 2GB
The 6970M should be the equivalent of a desktop HD6850 if i remember correctly.
Technically i'm below minimum specs on the gpu, will the game run at all? in the eventuality of it running what performance can i expect with everything at minimum at 1080p/1440p?

I see people using ultra textures on a 970. Don't you get crazy stuttering? I'm lowering it to high as advised by the dev, does it change much at 1080p? Because judging from the Candyland comparison i see little to no difference tbh.

Two things I did that stopped my Prague Subway crash:

1) All settings to minimum (think this is it)
2) Unticked all DLC in Steam

Too bad the sharpness option is only a toggle. Would like a bit of sharpness to offset TAA but not that much. Should've put it as a customize slider like Doom, Nixxes.

They would have to. Very high textures on my 4gb 760 maxes it out and gives me sharp drops in prague. The game tells you that very high needs more than 4gb. So ultra would be crazy high. My res is 1080p too.

For those with Ultrawide monitors, 2560x1080 and 3440x1440. Is it just me or does the game have black bars on the edges, like it's not filling the entire screen.

I'd disagree with some of the assertions the game is ugly or doesn't look good. It can be pretty damn stunning at times.

I do find myself leaning toward turning on the object interaction toggle though. The game is a lot busier visually than HR was and so I'm not able to pick out items and goodies unless I'm right near and waiting for the interaction popup.

Out of sheer curiosity, I set the game to Ultra settings in 4K with MSAA Off on my ASUS Strix 1080. I did turn Motion Blur off because I hate that shit and I also turned Sharpen off. There is definite softening going on with TAA on but it's not objectionable in 4K resolution lol.

The game drops a couple speed bins from my nominal OC of 2101 to 2076. Memory OC is 5355.

In-game benchmark:
Minimum: 22.7 fps
Average: 27.8 fps
Maximum: 33.2 fps

I never asked for this. I guess I'll start lowering settings until I can hit a 30 fps minimum before I start playing.

Anyone having an issue with sound stuttering. Like, performance is totally fine, but the sound it self goes mute for a fraction of a second every now and then, and it is driving me crazy.

Ok, that gave me a crash trying to skip the cutscene after the chopper. FFS lol looks like I wont be playing this until a fix is released.

For that specific bit, I made a new game and checked, I get 67-73fps
At what resolution? I find it hard to believe that a 1060 is running at 67-73 fps there when 1080 is hardly reaching above 60, you know. You're probably running 1080p?

Anyway, I've played with the settings a bit and it does seem like Contact Hardening Shadows are the main culprit for low performance on NV cards at least. Turning them from Ultra to Off grants me some +10-20 fps in the lowest performing areas I've seen yet which is something around +25-33% of performance. The rest of the settings don't affect these areas much. The funniest thing is that I can't really see much difference between CHS being at Ultra and Off completely in such scenes.

What's going on with all the recent awful launch configurations for mouse sensitivity? This feels like a problem that was solved with PC gaming half a decade ago, and now we're looping back around to the point in the cycle where developers stop caring about it again. Luckily I own a gaming mouse with custom profile options for different x/y sensitivity and lower DPI, but that still doesn't fix the forced mouse acceleration. I would challenge this development team to produce a single individual who was capable of playing this game at even 10% sensitivity with a modern gaming mouse. How do these configuration issues even get out of the door without someone saying "hey, wait a second, I think this default setting might make the game completely unplayable for 90% of the customer base...maybe we should tweak it a bit".

What were you using to benchmark? I tried almost those exact same settings but I was just eyeing my frame rate and would like to get an official benchmark.

Yeah, I have everything off and I wonder how much I'm missing.

See, now this is a complaint I can get behind. Mouse controls in this are crap out of the box.
