Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC performance thread

Seems going to windowed mode fixed the crash that everyone is getting in the
subway scene in prague

I also turned of subtitles as well just in case.

Haven't really done any tweaking, but just some brief walking around in prague keeps me above 60fps so far (75-85+ in the opening mission) on a 980Ti, i7 4770K @ 4.5Ghz, 16GB RAM (playing with G-Sync).

However, there wasa a reasonable amount of microstutter in prague - unsure what's causing it - hopefully it's a setting I can drop down.

Stuff like that annoys me especially when it's for a franchise I cherish, they don't recommend it because of an optional element?? Who cares if it's a great game, purely because it's got optional micro-transactions it should be given a bad review?!

Everyones opinion is valid on this stuff. If they feel like that then fine, but when I read it, I know I won't feel that way unless it isn't optional or far too grindy to play. Waiting for a larger sample size will take those reviews into account as well as everyone with an alternate point of view, crazy people, memes / jokes and the nicer folk that think things through. In the end though, that is something I would only use loosely and based on what the current circumstances were to avoid issues like brigading / launch stupidity of "I can't ultra, ergo shit port" when using an ancient processor as one of the reviewers is etc etc. I'd rather focus more in individual well written and reasoned reviews

Looks like I'm getting the same crash location as everyone else. (Prague, Subway entrance) I hate doing the fight before the chopper again.

I'm slowly getting tired of buying pc games day one for this to happen every time.

Have a link? I'd rather not browse the hub, because those things are usually full of spoilers or toxic users.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Known Issues
Hey everyone! Here is a breakdown of current known issues and information for each of them. We will update this post as we have more details to share.

Performance Issues
If you are experiencing performance issues, here are a few workarounds you can try out for now:
Update your drivers
Turn off MSAA
Turn off Contact Hardening Shadows
Keep Volumetric Lighting to on or off
If you have a 4GB GPU, use settings up to High
Use 1080p resolution
Enable Exclusive Fullscreen
Crash on startup
This issue is currently under investigation.

Crash at the Train Station
This issue is currently under investigation.

Here are workarounds which have worked for some users:
Lower the graphic settings
Deselect DLC content from the game's properties in the library
Run the game in windowed mode
Turn off subtitles
Mouse Acceleration
This issue is currently under investigation.

Axis
The game's option menu doesn't display the settings correctly. Players should ignore what they are seeing in the menu and use what they are noticing in-game.
A fix is coming for this issue.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Breach - Final Reward
We have identified an issue where the final reward for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Breach is awarded to the player indefinitely, once he continues clearing maps after having completed the game.

As a temporary fix, this reward has been replaced. Once the issue is fully fixed, the correct reward will be put back in place. Users who have completed Breach in the meantime will retroactively receive the reward.

We will keep you updated on the status of this full fix.

Transmedia Digital Content
Your Digital OST Sampler, Novella, Art Book and Comic Book can be found by navigating to the folder using Windows Explorer. The files will be located here: \Steam\steamapps\common\Deus Ex Mankind Divided\Extras.

Holy shit at this game.

Just played some more Titanfall at Wild Hunt just to be sure it wasn't just my rig.

Those are running fine, yet on LOW preset at 1080p I get 21.3 FPS average and 13.5minimum in the bench. On low. Clock and temps are fine, usage is a bit low, but not THAT low.

Tried running in windowed mode and the results are even worse.

Ridiculous. Game launched 4 hours ago and I have yet to make it past the tutorial.

Just because it runs fine on other games, doesn't mean it's necessarily a problem Deus Ex here. It could very well be a problem on your rig. Who knows though.

16GB Ram
Zotac GTX 1070 AMP Edition

Settings ingame:
Ultra preset
Sharpening off
Contact Hardening Shadows lowered to "on"
2xMSAA
1080P

Pretty much hovering around 58-64. With G-Sync this is very playable and it looks awesome when entering Prague.

I've now upped my settings to Ultra presets - no MSAA, no contact hardening shadows, 1920x1080

Gtx1060 6gb (oc +100 core, +400 mem)
I5-6600k 3.5ghz
16gb ram

Frame rates between 55-100fps. No complaints with me

By the way, performance report:

Ingame, I have a smooth 60-70 fps

980 Ti
1440p
Very High + Ultra textures
No MSAA

Seems a solid port other than the mouse accel.

People are turning off sharpening? What? I've tried turn it off and Jezzess it looks blurry AF.

It has to be only for performance reasons. I've toggled that on/off too (in the very short time I got to try it before errands became priority) and it makes a massive difference. Sharpening combined with Temporal AA is a good compromise compared to MSAA.

On a related note, what did the devs do with sharpening? I'm not sure I've seen this tech in a game before and read nothing about it in DX:MD leading up to release. Curious how they got it looking so well without significant compromises like TXAA does on its own.

What? The Sharpening makes it look blocky and unnatural. The blur actually makes the picture look more coherent imho. Together with 2xmsaa I have yet to spot Jaggies.

Again, the lowest hitch is with me looking at whatever that is. Soft shadowing artifacting there is "nice" as well:

Should this be running at 40-60 on a GTX1080?

I'm definitely going with badly optimized here.

Also crashing at the same section others are, frustrating.

And what is even more annoying is how long it takes to get back to that point to see if the newt thing you've done has fixed it. It plops you back to your last save, which has to be in the previous level. So you have the billion logos, the load into the tutorial, the load into the next level then the unskippable walk and talk to get to the crash point.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Anyone tried running this on a GTX770? Wondering if Id be better off getting the PS4 version.

I had the crash issue too. Turning off subtitles did the trick and the game no longer crashed.

If turning off subtitles isn't helping, then it seems to be completely random and it's gonna be frustrating to repeat that part all the time.

Well I deleted the game, reinstalling now on the SSD in some desperate hope that fixes something, somehow. What a waste of a day. Have to go to work in a couple hours, all the time I wasted waiting and tweaking instead of playing. Bleh.

Yup, I'm getting hit with the Prague crash too. Going into windowed mode and verifying game cache didn't help. Happened 3-4 times in a row now.

Tired of fucking with this. Gonna wait for a fix.

Aye. Tried Windowed mode, had subs off anyway, tried different settings.

Still crashes. Sigh.

It looks horrendus imo. I can handle some sharpening but not as much as this game applies.

Doom had it too but you could adjust it.

To me the input in this game feels really weird. Not just the mouse/analog stick (tried both) but also the movement. It just feels and looks really stiff.

Getting around 100 FPS on the first level, everything maxed @1080, except MSAA off and Contact Hardening Shadows "On"

I have now just gone completely with the Ultra preset, and remain at 55-100fps thus far. The benchmark was at 48 / 64 / 75 (min ave max) but so far the game hasn't even pushed that hard in the city hub yet.

Again, the lowest hitch is with me looking at whatever that is. Soft shadowing artifacting there is "nice" as well:

I'm definitely going with badly optimized here.

My GTX1060 is performing above 60 on ultra (minus CA, MSAA) thus far in game (not the benchmark as above). If this is the case, I can't imagine a 1080 being held that far back. Not sure what is going on with different impressions from seemingly similar set ups

Can I change the audio language somehow?

In the audio menu

GTX 980 with slight overclock, 4790k here.

First ran benchmark with GEForce experience settings, got 30 fps min. Went and changed a few settings down, ran again... 30 fps again.

Enabled triple buffering.

Gained 25 FPS?

Only done this once so far but that's pretty weird. Going to try again.

Anyway, performance.

i5 6600k @ 4.4
16GB RAM
Titan X Pascal
3440x1440 res

Settings:

0e140445de6c5529f6b4d5b326314ff3.png

MSAA Off

Performance has been extremely solid, and the game looks very good.

Have yet to drop below 60fps - played the entire prologue and the opening of Prague

Downsides: Mouse accel, crashing at Prague opening, Steam overlay doesn't work

Quick question.

It seems no matter what i change from the in game graphic settings. (and restart the game like it tells me too)

I get the same FPS count in the benchmark. (plus or minus a frame or two)

Do the setting only count as changed if you do it from the launcher. ?

We're you using double buffering before? That was probably the issue.

Well no idea what your settings are, but after a lot of testing I've found some 'relatively' high settings that give me around 60 fps on my 980.
Still not entirely happy with them though.. TAA is great but the sharpening filter is way to aggressive imo.
