Is it just me or is the music playing during the Team Aether Aether Foundation in the japanese trailer a remix of the wii shop channel.

Or I guess it's neither, since Ultra Beasts are mentioned to be neither Pokemon nor human. So some Lovecraftian thing that appears as a human to help the professor?
Interesting direction for the series to take. Maybe have an exorcist mini game to get rid of it lol.

Lusamine: Welcome to the Aether Foundation. We seek to create a paradise for Pokemon.
Hero: Uh huh.... so you're not trying to destroy reality?
Lusamine: Of course not, we seek to merely make a paradise here in Alola. On our gigantic artificial island that is in no way our secret base filled with dimension-rendering technology. Follow me so we can measure you for the white jumpsuit that represents our purity and in no way represents the fact that in order create a perfect paradise we must destroy the reality in which we currently reside.

Looking great, hope the photography aspect is fairly substantial.

Girlfriend and I agreed I'd go Sun, she'd go Moon. Might be starting to regret my decision.

Giving the Team Skull guy Type:Null is good storytelling.

I'd bet that Gladion and Lusamine are related, to be honest, and that's how Team Skull Guy got Type: Null. It was created by the Aether foundation (though they're trying to keep it under wraps) and Gladion either got/stole it before he left.

My take on Ultra Beasts:

- You battle them, perhaps in a somewhat unconventional way, but they're not regular Pokemon, so you can't catch them.
- Lillie disappears and UB-01 shows up. Later more significant characters disappear and corresponding Ultra Beasts show up
- It turns out the Aether Foundation are experimenting with merging Pokemon and Humans to create something powerful
- But of course you discover the best way to do this is not through experiments but through THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
- There's your syncro-evolution

I really like Jangmo-o. I just don't know how to pronounce it. Hope it gets a cool second typing like Steel when it evolves.

Hm, my first thought was that it was a long vowel, but it looks like the Japanese name is different (Jarako). So I'm guessing you actually do pronounce it like Jang Moh Oh.

By the way, which timeline are we talking about? The new one with Megas or the original one? I'm guessing the original one since there are no signs or Megas coming back?

I like the idea of Alola forms of older Pokemon, but I hope they have some from gen 2 and above, and not just all gen 1.

I just want to be able to use the Ultra Beasts. Having them be super powerful bosses would be cool, but having a design that was uncatchable/unusable would be a bummer.

Lusamine is the coolest character I've seen since Cynthia.

Probably secretly running an evil organization and Team Skull helps you take down Aether.

If you self impose a "no exp share" rule I guess, thus making training up anything low level a pain in the ass because its only modes are "off" and "give a bajillion experience to your entire party"

The game is still incredibly easy with it off. There is too few pokemon to the encounters.

A level 38 encounter should have 5 pokemon.

turning off exp share does not make the game harder, just more of a pain in the ass.

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Type: Null is pretty neat, but I don't recognize any of its parts---maybe they're parts from unrevealed final form Alola Pokemon?

Also I've been wanting non-Pokemon Boss Fights for quite awhile, UB might scratch that itch---I legitimately hope they're just bosses and can't be caught.

Ok, so anyone else think of Owain/Odin from Fire Emblem when they saw Gladion? When he made that pose, the first thing that popped into my head was "Ugh, my aching blood!" :p

Weird af trailer. Even if my subconscious kept telling me they would never announce a new type (or absence of one) in such a way, it was still really weird to see "Type:Null" pop up in the screen. I do like its description and possible implications in the Alolan region story.

Ultra beasts are even weirder. Since they named it UB-01, I think it's fairly safe that there'll be more than one (and that's probably what Aether organization is studying). I'm throwing my cards at the table thinking these are either not the final pokémon form (as in, a state like the ghost marowak in gen 1), and/or are pokémon still being discovered in the region. In the story we may see Aether organization naming those pokémon. I refuse to believe there'll be entries in my pokédex named "UB-01", "UB-02" and so on. We periodic table now.

And everyone should watch the japanese trailer. I don't understand Nintendo's (or TPC's) policy of barely showing in-game footage that isn't from battles. I want to see the world, the routes, the cities. The JP trailers are the ones delivering that, this one more than the others.
