Sony announces PS4 Pro, $399, November 10th

Bloodborne is quasi first party. Will it get patched?

It's really up in the air. On one hand Sony knows it's one of their biggest exclusives. On the other I don't see FROM taking the time to go back and work on a game that's been out for a while and isnt getting any new content.

Plus there's the issue of its integrated multiplayer - sony doesn't want MP games to have higher framerate on Pro so if it does get improved it'll be enhancements other than 60fps. Maybe at the very least they'd finally fix that frame pacing issue.

From doesn't need to handle the update. SIEJ can do that.

So the thing still plays blu Rays since all ps4 games are on that format

I didn't even know ultra blu Ray was a thing, sounds like something crafted in the dbs universe or next evolution stage lol

Does anyone know what has been revised for the controller? Is the build any better?
Q: Will the PS4 Pro system introduce any improvements to DUALSHOCK 4?
The latest version of DUALSHOCK 4 will be included with PS4 Pro, as well as the new slimmer standard PS4. But it does not introduce any significant new functionality. The new DUALSHOCK 4 allows the light from the light bar to emit on the touch pad, making a new luminous line that illuminates in the same color as that of the light bar. It also supports USB communication in addition to Bluetooth communication. Existing DUALSHOCK 4 controllers going back to the launch of PS4 are fully supported on PS4 Pro; the updated DUALSHOCK 4 will, in turn, be fully supported by every PS4 model.

Will you have to activate modes within the games to utilize the power of Pro, or will the Pro automatically buff the games when you start them?

They should be automatic but I'm guessing games like Tomb Raider will give you rendering options.

So if this is the start of a cycle some form of a further upgraded playstation is due in late 2019/early 2020, an upgrade every 3/4 years with the chance to use the current system as a means to reduce the cost of the next iteration doesn't sound to bad for those who are able to do it. Hopefully the for sure gamestop trade in upgrade offer is at least $150/175 with the current value being $125 for a PS4. I know expecting half the value of the Pro for a trade is asking for much but it would be even sweeter if that is the case.

I've paid for my pre-order on Amazon and have decided to just give my OG to a friend who cant afford a PS4. Rather that than sell it to CEX and have them sell it on with a high mark up.

I'm doing the same thing. I'm selling it to him for like $100. :-/

It'll be automatic, and for games with multiple modes, there'll be a default one that's active that you should be able to change by going into the options menu.

Watching this PS Access video, Hollie B briefly mentions what sounds like an upgrade to the PDM (OS) presentation.

https://youtu.be/3ERCdyjbro4?t=6m40s

"Text and some icons will be in 4K, but the processing is also upgraded, so you might find that some displays [menus?] load faster."

They probably can't guarantee all icons because unpatched older games would have lower resolution pictures for the Start icon, trophies, What's New progress updates and so on.

I can't help but chuckle and facepalm when I see so many people talking up HDR as if it's the second coming of Christ. We've been using this shit since 2005. I remember playing a Half-Life 2 tech demo called "Lost Coast" that demonstrated this very thing. To put things into perspective...

...lmao

You couldn't be more misinformed. The HDR referred to in Half-Life 2 and other games of that era is not the HDR that we're talking about today. They're two totally different things that have literally nothing in common from a technological point of view or otherwise other than that they unfortunately have the same name.

Does BB have a variable or 30fps capped framerate?

If it's not capped, it should get a boost regardless without any work from the devs, no?

Can't read everything right now, but are there already infos about the fan noise in comparison to the CUH-1200? Didn't find any information about it.

If it's louder, I'll buy the slim, otherwise the Pro ^^

I'm doing something similar, but my reasoning is a bit isn't quite as sincere. My wife and I told our nephew that we would buy him a PS4 for Xmas early this year. But I was always counting on the new PS4 coming out this year. So instead of buying him a brand new one, I told my wife that I'd just send him my old one and get the new and improved one for myself.

If it didn't come out until Spring or Summer 2017 then we would have just gotten him the new slim PS4. But it just worked out this way so that I can just spend the extra $100 and get a the PS4 Pro for myself. But if we weren't planning on getting him a PS4 at all then I probably wouldn't get the PS4 Pro. I would still want it, but wouldn't want to pay an extra $200+ for it(by selling or trading in my OG PS4). But I can deal with just a extra $100.

need to get demo units into retail stores. put it in the magnolia section of best buy running side by side with a slim ps4/non-4k tv.

although i wonder how places like gamestops sell it. they gonna put in a high-end hdr/4k capable tv out there? or just not bother?

Honestly, as someone who doesn't care about graphical quality all that much as long as the framerate is fine (~30fps will do), I'm really glad I got the OG PS4. Because the design of the PS4 pro is fucking ugly. Already didn't like the PS4 Slim's design.

Has there been anything mentioned about the Playstation European conference - I'm only asking since Sony didn't actually make any new software announcements at Playstation Meeting, surely they must still be on for Paris Games Week?

I want to see more PS4 Pro.

Does anyone know when using the ethernet cable option to transfer data from og PS4 to the Pro will it still keep the content on the old console as well?

It will [expected but not 100℅ confirm] unless you wipe it.
Absolutely want to to do so before selling it in the wild. If you plan on taking it to your local resale establishment, you may want to leave a title or two on there for quick verification of a working console; just confirm the wipe before your transaction is complete.

I agree the base ps 4 design is sleak and sexy but the slim and pro are ugly and uninspired

Did Sony ever mention support for external drives at all in the pipeline?

I want to buy a PS4 Slim and get more storage, but I don't want to waste the 500gb already in the system.

Why don't you just sell/exchange your original PS4 for a good price and then get him a brand new PS4 slim with whatever money on top.

Is there a place where you can download the 4K demos Sony showed at the conference? I remember Cerny said you could download it after the conference if I´m not mistaking?

I currently have my PS4 connected to a NEC PA241W monitor (1920 x 1200 native res), would I see any benefits in resolution on a Pro? Other than framerate/visual detail upgrades when available.

What do you mean by benefits?

Pro won't make your TV into a 4K screen, but if your talking about their 4K mode, yeah, downsampling that to your TV will give you far better quality than native 1080p.

I have to ask, since you can only have one active PS4 at a time on your account, and with the advent of the PS4 Pro, will Sony update their account management to allow the user to have two PS4s?
