ReCore ReView thread

Many people predicted a low 7 but it goes even lower. It looked bad from the trailer and a lengthy gameplay so no surprise it got hammered like this.

Sure, but the price point reveal came at a later point when they knew no one would care about this game at 60bucks. Its a solid price though, so i still hope it does well since its a new IP and they could improve stuff for a sequel.

Nah, price point was known very soon after the announce in June.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Was hoping to be surprised, but sadly what I expected. May pick it up on sale (or GwG).

ReCore is a game that has quite literally every element I look for in a hugely successful, triple A game; one that I know I will enjoy going back to when I just want to go out and explore or try something different, or find something I missed in my first run. The game has flaws aplenty, some are just downright unforgivable. So if you can overlook the flaws, or wait for a patch to come in I could not recommend this game anymore. ReCore is truly a diamond set deep in the rough.

Hopefully they can fix some stuff.

Ooh, ouch. The reviews in the OP started off well enough but then...yeah. Shame. I don't own a XBox, so part of me is happy that I don't have to blow a few hundred pounds to get one to play the game, but at the same time I wanted it to do well.

Frankly the negative reviews are all reading like spoiled brats that expected a light hearted semi automated borefest cinematic platformer ala Ratchet and found a game that demanded more in terms of real gameplay than they were able to give. They went full YOLO in the game so sure, after 5 hours they didn't have the cores to go on, and the game made explore a bit. And with no markers! What a terrible sin..

So sad to see this poor reception for a game that dares to be about intense combat, platforming and exploration because for some fucking reason the reviewer expects a " heavy-hitting, soul-crushing story", objective markers for everything, and chooses to review the game in the weaker platform so all the technical shortcomings of not quite AAA production values lend some objectivity to his resentful rant.

Anyway, I was skeptical but now I'm quite sure I'll enjoy this on pc. I'm so in.

Seems utterly mediocre at best.

And what odd reviews.

"It's not bad"

"It's not a disaster"

"Slightly enjoyable"

3/5

Dispense with the baby gloves already.

Never had high hopes for this game but it's still disappointing to see such middling scores, one of my friends was legitimately hyped for this one...

In all fairness, so was Ratchet & Clank. That ended up being fantastic and had arguably AAA quality production values.

those 2 example also give a hint you where you must focus on to have good review : presentation with not challenging /demanding gameplay ...(but poslish is also to blame here)

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that IGN doesn't have their review up?

Nah, they said they are taking more time with it since they got their review copy late. At least that's what Ryan said on twitter.

Scores seem to be an average game. I liked what I saw so far. I could see why the end grind would suck tho. Still excited to play it (I don't base my purchases on review scores and some of the reviews I read are things that I like so...lol. I also loved Quantum Break but others didn't (though I wish it had a Horde type of mode than just story)... #shrug)

Disappointing. Microsoft never put much money in it anyway so it was expected. Lack of polish really hurt the game, conceptually it could always be better, but its biggest flaw is lack of polish to bad they won't visit the game again.

Ratchet and Clank was a fluke. It got the $40 price point to push the movie. I bet had there been no movie and it was just a reboot, it would have been 60 bucks.

Regardless that was a good game.
Above average is a bad game? I mean I've not cared much for it but scores and people making this out to be super bad is stupid. Please.

In general theres a odd reception that if a game doesn't average 80 it's "bad". Dunno why that is. I blame it on how some review sites are kind of scaled if I had to guess.

I just bought it. Read some reviews and seems to be fine for $40 to me. I can live with the loading times and bugs as long as it's not game breaking. I'm liking the more oldschool aproach. Only thing i'm not liking is that it sounds like all the difficult platforming is at the end. I'm hoping the difficulty curve isn't too easy and then suddenly too hard. I hate those spikes in games and much rather have a smooth curve.

Anyway i can't wait untill tomorrow, i need a new game untill all the big hitters releases.

Also i'm not sure why some people expected an AAA game for $40. Seems to me it was always advertised as a AA game.
