I love that list of masterpieces. If I have to play in limited against a sword though I will rage to oblivion.

I think they struck about as good a balance as they could with that stuff. An opponent with a Mind's Eye or a Cloudstone Curio isn't going to have a significant advantage obviously

Man, this land destruction deck is so bad vs dredge lol

Even anger post board does nothing if they have a greater gargadon suspended.

I swapped the rituals for bolts, the 3rd azusa for the 4th seismic assault and the red fetches for green fetches since the only basic I'm fetching that matters is the forest.

The deck is pretty bad though. If you're playing against midrange/control all day it's hard to lose but anything recursive or quick is ggs.

The timeline on this is interesting. Rosewater's article either implies
a.) that they managed to put together the entire Kaladesh Inventions, from the art to the frames to arranging the printing, in less than 12 months after seeing the Expeditions reception, which is possible but very tight for them
or
b.) they were working on Kaladesh Inventions much earlier (which would make sense, I mean "lets do super rare artifacts in our artifact block" is not an outlandish idea) and seeing the reception to Expeditions is what caused them to decide that they're in every block going forward

I imagine a 50 card "set" of English language reprints doesn't take much time to put together, compared to the ~20 months for a regular large set to go from initial design to print. There was no "Helvault Silver" for SOI/EMN, after all.

Can you guys imagine when we get to spells?

Lightning Bolt, Mana Drain, Force of Will, Dark Ritual, Armageddon, and of course, Damnation.

Especially if they don't play test them, because why would they?

Commander 2016 releases on November 11. Does anyone have an educated guess about when previews start?

End of October-ish.

An art push is, what, 3 months? They probably just rolled this into the second wave of commissions they were already doing for Kaladesh at that point.

Back from playing a ton of commander and did really well with Deploy Superfriends.
It was just 3 of us and one player has fairly under or overtuned lists depending on how you look at it (linear and zero answers). Some observations

Mana Crypt is a stupefyingly dumb card and deserves to be banned from EDH stat. One game I was stuck on 2 lands for the first 7 or 8 turns and I played up to 7 drops (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Coalition Relic)

There's little middle ground to superfriends, either I'm barely holding on with PWs or I'm dominating with them.

Mind's Dilation is really hit or miss. I got it out asap and one of the players had a populate deck that already had an engine going so one of them stopped playing shit and the other just kept attacking me. I fell all the way down to 4 with a mana crypt and vault in play when the populate player finally played something post combat and flipped a Desolation Twin giving me 2 10/10s. I had just enough mana and life to lose the flip pay the untap costs for mana crypt and play Ajani Steadfast (+1/+1 vigilance lifelink) to gain 11 life of the Desolation Twin. Stabilized from there with Narset and -2'd Chandra Firebrand (copy next instant sorcery) into a stormherd + Gideon AoZ to make 36 2/2 Pegasi.

I underestimated OG Ajani all these years, his life gain is actually impactful. Got to ultimate him for his avatar.

Who came up with Tamiyo and Venser's Emblem? Both are oppressive af. Venser lets me shoot down lands and shit and Tamiyo is all sorts of ridiculous. I drew Lotus Petal right when I was able to ultimate her and realized that was just infinite mana and storm if I cared to, I don't have any storm.

Chandra Flamecaller is such a draw engine.

JTMS is pretty much unsummon x 3

I have zero answers in the deck to anything.

I play Commander exclusively since I've been into Magic since 4th ed.

Sol Ring, Mana Crypt and Mox Diamond all played in my meta. We pack stuff like Annul, Steel Sabotage, Nature's Claim, Vandalblast, Aura of Silence (fucking hate this shit), etc. Artifacts are crazy strong in Commander. 99% of the decks we come up against pack some form of artifacts.

In fact, about 10-15 cards or so in each of our Commander decks consists of reactive cards, to stop someone's combo from going off or stop an alpha strike etc.

(Casting Annul on a turn 2 Sylvan Library is delicious!)

I was looking through that top 50 artifacts article in my previous post, and damn, every semi-interesting artifact there is on the Reserved List, haha.

EDIT: Concerning Blossoming Defense only targeting creatures you control, MTG Salvation pointed out this allows it to dodge Spellskite. That could definitely make it relevant.

That makes it EXTREMELY relevant for infect.

So this is basically a better Blind Obedience, and I looooooved me some Blind Obedience.

I've been lazily working on a white control deck for half a decade, this must go right in it.

Seems made with Delirium in mind but I don't think that deck wants it? Haunted Dead gives you a flier, lets you discard 2 and can actually block. This is an extra type in the graveyard, but can't block and needs you to exile stuff from graveyard to bring it back.

With Company gone, control should be a lot more playable and he seems really solid. He reminds me a lot of Architect of Thought, actually.

It will be I played around a bunch with control in all sorts of colour combos before and he'll definitely see play if UW is viable in standard but I'm looking at him and my Narset Superfriends list and I don't think he'll make the cut. He doesn't do anything exciting his detaining is about the best he does.

For those unaware, this is a home video made by MaRo's daughter (since he actually records Drive to Work while driving her to school), which he showed at PAX during the Blogatog Live panel.

I find it amusing that people were looking at the Planeswalker-caring spells in the Planeswalker Decks for something maybe Constructed playable, but it's actually one of the "flavorfully tied" common spells that seems potentially Constructed worthy, Flame Lash, if there really aren't any other decent burn spells that hit the face.

Dovin Baan looks good, but maybe I'm overestimating his card drawing ability.

Scrapheap Scrounger looks good, and as noted, is strictly better than a monoblack card that people were previously looking at for Constructed, Despoiler of Souls.

Bomat Cruiser is a really interesting design. I'm glad red is continuously getting "discard your hand, draw N cards". Note that you exile a card on attack, so you could potentially just attack and sacrifice it in a pinch.

EDIT: Wait, hold on, what's with the different wordings between the searching for these two cards?

Library and graveyard vs. library and/or graveyard
The mandatory vs. may is due to Chandra's spell's default effect not requiring searching the library, but I don't get the above.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Dovan looks pretty great with that +1. Basically makes Avacyn reset him back to 3 and I'm assuming nullifies her ability to board wipe.

omg this would get me back into standard if so! Haven't played since UW-no win conRTR block control

Also I'm starting to think that Dovin is not evil. Maybe manipulated? But none of his abilities lend him to deviousness or a nefarious characterization.

On a similar note that card doesn't really bring out any of the flavor of him being able to notice the flaw in anything just by observing it.
