I understand that everybody doesn't dig the gameplay (not that I agree), but I don't get the complaints about the graphics/framerate on XBO. I'm about 45 minutes in and it seems great so far - very clean (1080p?) and smooth. Not the best game ever, but I was expecting a lot worse from the reviews. For the $32 at Best Buy with a plush hat and controller skin, I have no complaints.

Yeah most of the reviews don't add up to the experience most people seem to have.

I'm still under the impressions Jim had the best one looking at people who play it and their opinions.

Couple more 4K screens I took:

I must confess I´m really liking this game! I am about 2-3 hours in the game..It really feels like an hybrid of Zelda/Metroid with the action and puzzles/dungeons etc. Hopefully it will do ok saleswise to encourge a sequel maybe=)

I'm loving this game just like I thought I would. Can't believe the reviews on this! Really makes me sad, but I hope this game still does well. It just takes me back to the good ol' times of gaming. :D

Taking a wait and see. The impression I got from the rather lengthy discussion of the game on the bombcast this week was that Jeff and Brad both LOVED the game for the first few hours and then it fell apart completely.

Haha I think we are at the bolded stage right now. I'm wondering what happens later on that people hated so much...

they talked about it a lot. mostly just technical issues, and some gating near the end that basically halts your progress and demands that you go complete every side area, or at least most of them.

So basically, if your tolerance for the game is fine with 'well, go be a completionist about it all' then it's probably fine, I'm still heavily leaning towards a buy because I'd do it all anyway.

Oh that's it? That's how I play these kinds of games anyways. I said this in another thread, but it's the same as Xenoblade X for me. In that game, you have to complete pieces of the world map by doing tasks by a certain % in order to continue the story missions. People hated that, but it barely mattered for me because I would have the requirements done most of the time anyway lol

It's times like these where I believe there's "right" and "wrong" ways to play certain games

They way you get
Duncan
into the party seems very random, or maybe it's just me, whenever I get to a new place I like to skim it first for things before going to the main story.

I'm thinking I skipped a beat by grabbing him early because it's way too improvised and I feel a lot of people might miss it, we'll see.

Yeah, I hope it's not as bad as it's made out to be, but then again it's only $40 and have been great so far.

Can't wait to jump in for some more later today.

So far my only complaint is that I don't have the game yet. Been in a bunch of stores and Recore is nowhere to be seen. Some websites say it's not coming out until friday. I guess that's just life in Microsoft tier 15.

I need a physical copy, not gonna buy a digital version. I'm ready for that one-time-10-hour nostalgia crunch.

Be wary the cross-buy feature only works with digital if you plan on using that.

That's why I can't find it. I bought the physical version and I was thinking about trying it on PC. My PC is decent and the XBO load times are somewhat annoying. That's a shame.

Are you in Europe? It's not out yet if so.

I just ordered that. Call me crazy but I really like that game.

Holy shit it's huge.
Ooooh boy

Yeah, unfortunately that's due to their license stuff. Digital binds a key to your account while the physical does not.

I am starting to dislike Windows 10. So the game downloaded, but reported a problem installing (sadly I didn't write down the error code). I clicked install again and Windows Store deleted whole 9GB of data and started re-downloading the game. What the f*** is that?
I don't even want to imagine this happening with 60GB of FH3 which will take around 20h to download.

Should I take any extra steps as precaution so that doesn't happen?

So glad I went with my gut and grabbed this for the PC. Only 2 hours in but loving it. Once question though how do you get rid of the microphone and other icon in the lower right?

In my review I talked about how the game feels and it works, and why I can't understand modern reviews. The gating isn't too dissimilar from Mario 64 or Galaxy or any of these types of games. Seems weird to complain about that. It actually seems like the complaint people have if they are trying to rush through it for review. It's not like it's fetch quest or repetitive, the challenge dungeons are all pretty different.

I am replaying Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC and trying to %100 it right now. I really want to try this one but I am not sure I am ready for another collectathon game.

It falls under which category the reviewers thinks the game is at. Action Adventure, then it'll be frowned upon for the progression, gating...etc If they categorized it as Platformer, then bingo...tight controls, loot, etc...

It might also have flaws. I don't like this trend of damning reviewers for bring wrong on supposed technicalities.

My game is on its way to me, looking forward to trying it out for myself: It looks like a game I'll really enjoy.

I'm curious about what kind of "mutt" configurations everyone is getting for Mack. I'd upload mine but I don't understand how uploading images works here on GAF. Only can find the option to put a URL link.

Only this bothers me abit. Videogamer review about PES for example.

"Strange refereeing aside, none of those issues are more than oddities and PES 2017 is a wonderful football game that just begs to be played. Give me another 200 hours and I'll tell you definitively how PES 2017 ranks against the series' best, but right now I'm enjoying it an awful lot. Fun yet unfair, thrilling yet at times borderline broken, but it just wouldn't be PES if it was perfect"

Hah, that's a bit of a crappy statement.

The thing is, some games buy indulgence through being excellent in other areas. Recore, apparently, hasn't for several reviewers.

It's nice to see so many liking it in here. As ever, the important thing is whether you like it. I don't like Dark Souls or Bloodborne, so all their mega scores mean little to me. Similarly, Halo 5 is a bona fide 10/10 for me on the basis of MP alone. Scores only mean so much, and it's good if Recore can find a niche.

You need to upload images to a off site host, like imgur or abload etc... After that copy direct image link and put it in the tag preferably with a quote or code tag around it to shrink its size.

It's a bit of a double standard but also the fact that the number system don't work as people look at the total average and not the critic rating scale median.

Yeah, this is the feeling I got from the reviews I read too. It's not 'fetch quests', 'repetitive' or 'grinding' just because you don't get a cinematic or plot advancement for every step of your way.

Feeling glad I went with my gut on this one; approaching two hours in (on PC) and I'm having a great time. Love the way it looks and sounds, and everything seems to control really nicely. Can't wait to dig in again tomorrow night!

Ah, I see you updated Geforce Experience too. Those icons are related to the new version; to remove them, go into Geforce Experience, hit the little cog top-right and disable the switch in the "Share" panel.

Try dashing out a platform instead of jumping. Then you will be able to double jump and dash again, which makes the runs much easier to get in time.

As for that area on top I think you need another frame/robot to reach those.
Yeah I forgot to post I was using the dash before jump for sure. That absolutely is essential to getting to certain places that seemed undoable prior to knowing that maneuver.

Being that this is the first XPA game I understand the problem with people going with the Anniversary edition on PC...unfortunately it will happen again with Forza, and Gears as not everyone is buying ReCore. All those games require the Anniversary edition as well. Luckily for games that come out next year (early next year) everyone should be on the Anniversary update (yes, MS will force consumers but we don't know when, only businesses get to hold back updates for long periods of time).

Note that there will be two updates next year for Windows (feature updates like the AU), I don't think that the games that are coming out early would require them (Scalebound, Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, and Crackdown 3) but I do see that it may happen to games in the future. Can't wait for them to figure stuff out and get on a regular cadence so people can get used to stuff (and stuff not break...). But I do see the games coming out at the end of next year probably only requiring ver. 1607 (Anniversary Update).

I love this game! I'm not sure what the reviewers are thinking. However, I'm still in the beginning so I have yet to see. And I didn't know you could customize Mack's look. I took a screenshot of it.

Edit: Could somebody help with posting pictures? I can't seem to get it correctly. Never mind, I got it.

Can't they patch the 2 corebot limit in the endgame so you don't have to go back and forth? Seems like something that would be very easy to do.
