Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

There were also only 4 playable shrines in the E3 demo; maybe that's the mix up in the rumor? That or there could really be only 4 dungeons? Who knows.

I really hope the 4 "real" dungeon rumor is true.

I much prefer the idea of them playing with wildly different puzzle ideas across a hundred mini dungeons set in a different dimension underground basically rather than have them be restricted by a dungeons theme/logic layout in anyway.

Give me the Mario Galaxy level approach of random dessert planet after a hamster tube world after water slide world.

the pillar thing was brought up in gaf speculation already, just for context :D

Before E3, even. They first appeared in this artwork:

You can't blame anyone for not following every Zelda discussion in this thread. So much pointless aggression and sniping at one another over minor things like where an enemy is looking in a trailer

I hope all the shrines don't end up sharing the same aesthetic as the ones from e3. It'd be cool if maybe they differed in appearance depending on their region.

I would think they know having over a hundred of them would mean reusing the exact visuals for everyone would get old quickly but they would obviously still need to stick to a basic set of design elements that can be reused to not waste too many resources on these. Maybe a color variations is in the cards or a different elemental touch will help vary things up.

I think they'll differ in details and colors, but share the same general look. I look at them as the equivalent of the FLUD-free levels in Super Mario Sunshine: Concentreated sections of pure gameplay.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll reuse certain elements to maintain a shared look, but even something as simple as a change in the color schemes would make a huge difference.

And while it may seem obvious that having the exact same visuals would get old, I still feel like it's the kind of thing Nintendo would overlook.

I can't stop watching videos of this game. It just looks so much fun. There are so much game systems and physics at play, and everything looks polished and fun. I honestly love everything about what I'm seeing, (beautiful) visuals included.

I'm not even the biggest Zelda fan (I enjoy all the games, but it's not one mof my favorite franchises), but this is my most hyped game right now.

This is one of my favorite videos (it's old though):

The part showing Link catapulting himself is mindblowing to me. No open world games gives you this much freedom with physics.

The two hours video from GameXplain is pretty awesome too. Watched the whole thing.

Hopefully the positive reaction the game has garnered about the physics engine will drive Nintendo to include even more fun stuff to do in the overworld, because that catapult thing was not intentionally programmed in (neither was levitation) as you can see the camera doesn't even follow Link correctly when he's launched.

So hopefully they'll come up with places in the overworld where you could use experiments like those and not become just things you can do but that serve no purpose.

Yeah, imagine if they put places that you can only reach by being creative like that.

So after looking at the 'Hylian language' translations of what's been seen so far...

How assmad would we be if the plot twist was just a 'it was all a dream' or 'it was a simulation the whole time' thing?

Uhh what? No one was mad at LA's ending, ya crazy? That's one of the best, if not the best, Zelda ending.
And it wasn't even a twist or anything since you knew far in advance that you were in a dream.

But, I agree that twist wouldn't fit BotW. It barely fits any game really.

Nobody was mad that Link's Awakening took place in a dream, mostly because that twist was revealed quite early.

Now, Super Mario Bros. 2, on the other hand...

Unless this is a joke, this is also news to me.

If anything, I remember reading players were really impressed by Mario's sleeping animation.

people don't like Link's Awakening's ending because it's heartbreaking.

SMB2's ending was bullshit because it wasn't a Mario game AND they've never gone back to it despite having Shy Guys and Fuzzies and etc. in other games.

It's pretty rad though when you think about it that either the dream world was a real place Mario and co. visited in their dreams and then like met up and talked about after because otherwise how did they make friends with the Blue Toad and invite him to Mario Parties and the Sprixie rescue mission and then I guess that dream worlds reality bled into the mushroom kingdom verse and shy guys and fuzzies transported from one to the other *or* I guess it's also possible that Mario's dreams are so powerful he willed real shy guys and fuzzies into existence which if you think about it makes a lot of sense also because like ... shy guys never take off their masks so maybe Mario never having seen their faces in SMB2 never "imagined" a face for the into reality (😂) and since we know from Paper Jam that the Paper Mario reality is a subset of the Mario reality (previously referred to as the "mushroom kingdom verse" above) it makes sense that shy guys and fuzzies then exist there also, as a trickle down effect from either of the above scenarios and then if you see fuzzies in Paper Mario they have a unique way of latching on and consuming heart points in a way no other enemy can which is logical really because ... they're trying to return to the Mario-womb so to speak that created them. Mario is their mom. They're consuming his lifeblood and he can only squint and say "ok, herrrre we go"😁😂😂😂 and so like ... its not a coincidence then I think that the new slurp guys in Color Splash seem to be the only other Paper Marion enemy ever to evince the same behavior. They have to tey to replenish their otherworldly essence slowly pulling them away from the paper reality to the Mario reality then back ton the SMB2 dream world...

I'm glad that Link's Awakening ending was hearbreaking, I had tears when I finished it the first time (and got more tears when I finished without dying once). The last time I felt this in a Zelda game was with Anjou and Kafei's quest in Majora's Mask, at the end of their quest.

This kind of moments in a Zelda games are rares and I would rather *insert AVGN gross quote about ass, excrement or suffering* than having a dull happy ending.

EDIT :
Oh and it's more complicated than "It's just a dream, lol".

The shape of the ZL button prompt is... interesting. As in, it doesn't match the shape of the ZL button on the Wii U GamePad.

Before this takes any absurd NX talk, can we get a comparison image of the same prompt from E3?

To. Discuss about NX? The previous one got locked.

"When is Nintendo announcing this thing? Come on!"

"Nintendo has no right to make their fans wait for an announcement. Who do they think they are!"

"Guys, I'm pretty sure that Zelda, Metroid, 3D Mario, Mario Kart and Smash Bros will be the launch titles. I asked Emily Rogers and she tweeted a winky face."

"So when is this happening?"

"Nintendo is shooting themselves in the foot."

"Do you guys think this will be stronger than a GTX 1080? Or will it simply be as powerful as 1070?"

"WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO YOU UTTER PIECES OF SHIT FUCK I THREW MY GODDAMN CONTROLLER AT THE WALL AND BROKE IT BECAUSE I WANT NX NOW MOTHERFUCKERS YOU OWE ME A NEW CONTROLLER"

"Check out this steamy Star Fox fan art I found, wheeeew!"

"Is NX even real?"

Just copy and paste that about 2000 times into a word document and read all the way through it. There's your thread.

Hmm, slightly curious, is that icon definitely unique to this game?
Have speculated they might use grip style Z buttons which wouldn't be that shape but would depress in the direction of the arrow. (And could potentially double as a some kind of central shoulder button when sideways) Might not be it though.

You forgot the occasional comment about someone wishing for Nintendo's failure so they can go third party.

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.

A curious catch indeed.

Would like to share something I made!

*EDIT* It looks better from farther away since I had to use a lot of low rez images to composite it together.
