I wonder if Pikachu/Eevee/Snorlax can use their Z moves for their types as well as their special ones.

They can. Pikachu has already been see using the regular electric Z-move. Also Z-moves a Pokemon can use are not based on the Pokemon's type but rather the types of moves it can learn. If you were to transfer in a surfing Pikachu from HG/SS then it could learn the water Z-move.

The Z move is dependant on the type of the move that the pokemon has corresponding with the held gem, so I doubt any other move would work with the specific pokemon gems, unless they count as a gem of the type of the held pokemon (electric for Pikachu, normal for Snorlax, ect.)

It'll be popular with baton pass, though. People would have had to go several rounds to set up what eevee can do in two with this.

Eevee needs to be able to take at least one hit though with it's shit defense. Focus Sash is out of the question due to needing to hold the Z-Crystal. Even if it somehow lives the first hit and is faster the second turn, priority can still take it out.

It seems way too risky to be worth a Z-Move/(Mega?) slot, especially when there are other more reliable Baton Passers. Who's going to switch out against an Eevee? It's not a threat on its own.

Memory serves it was mentioned in Rockruff's reveal in coro coro, that he shares a secret with them.

At the time, some of us (myself included) figured it was maybe that synchro thing (think ash-greninja), then maybe z-moves though that quickly turned out to be different. So this seems to be the only thing left.

Does Eevee get baton pass? For VGC, you could have a rage powder/follow me user tank hits, and while getting that set up on eevee to pass to a pokemon that can then go sweep the team.

Problem is that you need the RP/FM to take 4 attacks. Opponent could also easy Z-move them and then fuck your Eevee up so you lose your Z-move and 2 Pokemon for playing defensively.

You could sacrifice your RP/FM to bring in Fake Out on Baton Pass turn, but then you got a useless Eevee in the back.

Still unbelievably fuckin stupid that I can't evolve my Rockruff into a Day Lycanroc in Moon just by waiting until daytime. Hopefully version-exclusive evolutions are limited to this line, because the idea is fuckin awful. Both designs are awesome tho. I wanna see the night form's BST.

What if there's another Eeveelution in the future? I know there clearly won't be one in Gen VII. I'm assuming Z Moves will be sticking around (they will), so will they just add any future Eeveelutions to the cutscene? Seems reasonable enough. It would be amazing if Eevee got some BST and movepool tweaks to make this Z Move really usable, cuz it's cool as fuck.

I also based this on the theory that Game Freak is trying to cut down on the number of new Pokémon so less Pokémon having evolution means a lower Pokédex count.

That's true, but I still think they prefer to have them evolve where they can (although Wishiwashi suggests ... maybe not, idk). Last gen there were only a half dozen non-evolvers who weren't legendary.

I REALLY think Crawbrawler and Minior evolve. I know Minior has a signature ability but I feel like it still can. That list I dont think we will have that many single stagers.

It could keep the ability upon evolution, maybe. I guess not many with abilities like that do evolve, though.

So if anything that should encourage them to get to a number after Gen VII that can realistically reach 1000 with one gen.

I've seen a couple people suggest that they make Gen VIII have 151 new Pokémon to reach an even 1000, which means after Gen VII the total would have to be 849. Which means Gen VII would have 128 new Pokémon. I see this scenario as somewhat likely (or at least appealing) just because it makes a lot of marketing sense (with regard to the moment they reach 1000 Pokémon needing to happen during a new gen).

So I'm pretty optimistic about the new Pokémon total in Gen VII. And I think some Pokémon that nobody expect to evolve totally will.

Ow.... Didn't realise the new Amie is called Refresh xD my bad. I'd say it doesn't. Probably just an expanded version of Amie.
Then again, they could let you feed your Pokémon status curing berries in that mode. Give a treat AND cure a status AND more uses for berries (vast majority sadly is useless)
